Cal isnt changing anything... he's entered into recycling his talking points from the NIT debacle season, which wasn't nearly as putrid as his current effort."Never again" , "enjoy this now haters bc next year...." Not shocked some are buying in, just disappointed.

Ok. You can also argue he’s proven through results in the he can get off the mat and fire back with great results. Did you listen to the show? No.
Nobody is more redassed than me about what happened this past season and the red flags leading up to it but he’s here regardless next season so I tend to lean on hope and the fact he’s reinvented himself in the past.

I guess i'm on the side of time has already told us... Obviously, he's going to try and PR mouthpiece his way into sending everyone into the (early) offseason with this great hope for next season- but this hasnt been just a one-season deal. We've had increased turmoil within the team in recent years, the record against top competition has been mediocre, we're still likely going to be dependent on incoming guys being complete studs to plug some holes- There is a lot to fix, more than just x's and o's.

I’ll just say that Cal mostly said the right things. I would have liked to have heard “I’m paid a lot of money and in the end this failure is mine” but that’s a lot to ask of him.

Askew and Allen in the boat means more to me than Cal’s yapping. Add Mintz, Brooks, Boston and Toppin to the mix with Oscar and I become hopeful. Get Justus a job at Mcneese State and bring back Coach O and I might even start talking smack to other fans again.
I would ask for KyKy and/or Powell as a transfers but that’s probably a bridge too far, that many Kentucky kids would break Cal’s brain.

This board and thread is a lot more fun with positive energy, so hopefully not everyone is disappointed if some of us choose to view Kentucky basketball through a positive lens.

Just f’n win games and championships. It’s the standard he himself stated in his opening press conference 12 years ago. This new standard of 1st round picks being the sole metric he evaluates himself on is ignorant.
Coming off the worst season in school history I think the fans, in this thread and in general get a pass for being in a grumpy mood and taking a “wait and see” approach with the roster.
I’m an optimist by nature but it’s going to take a while before the sting of this season goes away. Like I posted a minute ago, roster fallout will tell me more than a fan call in show.
There’s a difference between being grumpy and negative which 99% of the posts here and on rafters are anyway (and which don’t get called out at all) and being so grumpy that you literally post disappointment that people aren’t being grumpy and try to say they should be negative and then post a horrible example to prove it.
It’s fine if you guys want to be bitches all off-season but those of us that don’t will post too.
Considering they avg 88 ppg against UK in the 6 games from 75 to 95, give me ****** all day.
-I think the experience with the fans this past year will be a net positive, especially in light of his bulletproof contract. I'd say he's now been given a pretty good feel for BJW's "invisible hand" in this partnership, for better or worse. He should respect more the fans' desire to win and how much fans do for the program. If he's smart, will realize (again) that it's a strength and not a weakness of the job.

Is it positive that Cal at least acted like he’s going to change? Yep. But he acts like that a lot, and then doesn’t.
Maybe next year when I go into it with zero expectations, just making the tournament will feel like fun.

Yea, but this wasn't a disappointing loss in the sweet 16 or a bounce here or there and we're in the Final Four epiphany. The NIT season was easily dismissible after 2012 and the Noel injury.

- Ran into one of my old high school buddies at a fish fry on Friday- this dude is a firefighter ready to retire in a couple months and his oldest is an 18 year old senior. It’s like we’re on different planets. Not too long ago he was at EKU while I was at UK. Life comes at you fast.
- I’m a generally macro-optimistic person and I believe it’s easier to get it back than to never have the ability in the first place. It’s easy to become complacent or to simply stick with what’s always worked. I know many disagree but I don’t truly believe Cal’s goal was preparing NBA prospects. I think he (correctly for awhile) believed that was the best way to win big. Now, he has to pivot and adjust after being punched in the face. Cal’s not a one trick pony. He’s won big at 3 different places in 3 different ways. I’m still with him but I expect change here soon.

@ you fools thinking Cal is going to straight up own his mistakes in the first post season presser. #1 He shouldn't do that. #2 he would never do that. Proof is in the pudding. Bring back the guys that should come back and focus on shooters/experience.

Even if most of the team returns, it’s still a potential **** sandwich next year. I don’t think BJ Boston is gonna turn into an all-conference kinda guy, and while I love Mintz and think he truly maximizes his potential, he can’t carry the team by himself.
Whatever we did to Nike I wish someone would just apologize for it. It just feels personal at this point.

Yeah a lot of my buddies from EKU that were in Police Administration or Fire Science are hitting that retirement age and some already have and are double dipping. And I'm nowhere close.

-my optimistic take: cal isn't gonna be mega-contrite/ask forgiveness in public(especially this soon)...and as much as I'd like to see it, he shouldn't. It would be spun as weakness by opposing recruiters.
