Gonzaga has 4 one seeds in the last 5 seasons, assuming they get one this season.
We have only 3 during Cal's entire tenure.
There has been a changing of the guard. We aren't at the top of college basketball. We've been supplanted by the likes of Gonzaga, Baylor, Villanova, and Virginia. After what is likely to be another mass exodus and what appears to be a ho-hum recruiting class without an elite prospect, we are looking at another season on the treadmill of mediocrity.
Gonzaga's last 4 season's seeds have been #11, #1, #4 & #1. Not sure where you are getting the other one? Were you counting last year if there would've been a tournament?
Would we, as a fanbase, be satisfied with Mark Few or Jay Wright? Would the exciting brand of basketball make up for failing to meet expectations in the tournament most of the time.
Few has been to 20 straight tourneys at Gonzaga. An absolutely amazing feat. But he has been knocked out in the 1st weekend 11 times, has only made 1 F4 and only made it past the S16 3x total. That is despite being a top 3 seed 7x.
Wright has won 2 titles, but hasn't made it out of the 1st weekend in the other 8 seasons in the last 10 tournaments. Including a 13-19 season.
Overall, he has coached Nova in 20 seasons where there was a tournament played. He has failed to make it past the 1st weekend in 12/20 of those seasons. He does have the 3 F4s and more importantly 2 titles. Do the 2 'ships outweigh all of the early exits?
For me, I think both both
could kill it here but I'm not sure they could stand the pressure.
My first choice would be for Cal to get **** right, but he is alienating himself more and more every day. The fact that I am even thinking about who we should get next is ********. What a ****** season. Touch.
