Regarding football, it's simple. Sit the senior skill position players (Terry, Ali, Rose). The guys behind them are better. Let them take their bumps with an all SEC schedule and gain valuable experience against quality opponents, especially Gatewood.

Every down we play with Wilson under center is a wasted play. Mine as well have him throw it out of bounds. It's what he does best anyhow.

This dude may have suffered a stinger on this play, but it's both awesome and scary rolled into one. Meet the biggest, baddest man in the NFL head-up at the goal line and drop him cold. 😮

* Made a brisket yesterday on the Weber. I meant to put it on first thing in the morning and cook it at 225F until it was time to rest. Life, however, intervened and I didn't get around to it about 4 pm. So instead I got the grill up to 400F, smoked the brisket until it hit 165F and finished it off in the Instant Pot. Not the cool guy method and I won't win any awards but it was pretty damn good and foolproof.

Going to use the leftovers to make brisket grilled cheese sandwiches.

* That Missouri game just murdered enthusiasm. With college basketball looking ever more like it might not happen or, if it does, in some mutant form -- my inner Billy Joe Wildcat feels like his third divorce and increasing pill addiction just might do him in this time.

* Oh well. Andy is probably going to declare another "emergency" and shut the Commonwealth down again either this week or next.

GO CATS!

- they shut down jury trials across the river so if you’re a citizen worried about your constitutional right to trial in the Commonwealth, kinda concerning?

- per social media I just missed running into the wcc fam by my house yesterday- both of us walking dogs like reals. GYEROalmostIRL.

- I find sports to be easier when I can blame all of my favorite team’s shortcomings on one person. For UK- this is all AJ Rose’s fault. Bengals have lost 4 games because of the presence of Bobby Hart.

- dressing up in semi costume to take the boy and his friends trick or treating Saturday (because we send them to murder school anyway so what’s a little Halloween fun?). Pretty sure my oldest is on the fence on going out, starting to realize I only have a few more years of this. Sigh.

- leftover Monty Inn pulled pork nachos for lunch

Made homemade pasta yesterday. Pretty simple to do, fun for the kids, easy to clean up, and tastes so much better than the dry store-bought kind. Oh yeah, and a million times more of a pain in the *** than just boiling some water, opening the box, and throwing it in there. Hard pass on that from now on.

- extreme levels of "kinda concerning?" at my firm this morning with Hamilton County shutting down jury trials (so, everything) again. Can't wait for Andy to follow suit. Guess I'll get motion hour back in Kentucky in 2022... if I'm lucky. Damn it.

- I've never been in a real neighborhood for trick or treating until this year, even as a kid--had to walk over to the next street over to escape my cul-de-sac to hit the pavement for my candies. My birthday is Halloween and I honestly wanted to hang out and hand out candy this year, and stupid covid and Andy are going to take that away. :(

- Had some people over this weekend and managed to teach a 6 year old to tell his parents "all I want for my birthday is a big booty ho," which prompted his follow up question of "where do you even get a big booty," and then his proclamation that "I'm going to dream about that every night." Attaboy.

- Rewatched Fear yesterday. I like it as a prequel of sorts to Taken. Marky Mark is a little too believable in a "Nicole 4 Eva" role.

Did they shut down trials in just Hamilton County or all of Ohio? I'm in Virginia and Northam pretty much follows suit with any decision DeWine makes.

So far just Hamilton County, but Warren/Clermont and the Dayton counties probably aren't far behind. Dewine is a little more scalpel than flamethrower, but we'll see.

-went with leather.

-inexcusable performance Saturday. Defense was OK. Team/coaches completely uninspired. High from Tennesee? Looking forward to UGA? Either way UK isnt good enough for that...and piglet needs to catch the heat.

-bureaucrats drunk with power...and above reproach because "we're all in this together" *plus* a complicit "free press"(lmao). What could go wrong.

<---- Loves being a desktop lawyer. I think I've stepped into a courtroom maybe 3x after a clerkship.

Super tasty little practice, except for the 14.2hrs I billed yesterday for a filing due today.

Man, I didn't know how good I had it with a fat mileage check every month til it totally disappeared. I still have plenty to do but it's so much easier (and more fun) to make hours driving all over tarnation.

What a ******, ****** performance. Coaching, Offense, Defense - all piles of ****... hell, even Duffy was average this week.

I still don't understand the Rose hate, tho. He only ran the ball 5x. Now I agree that Rodriguez need more carries, but Rose's 5 weren't the problem.

AJ Rose - 5 carries: 6, 3, 29, 3, 2

Rodriguez - 9 carries: 1, 5, 3, 1, 17, 7, 6, 1

Rose doesn't run people over and shouldn't run the ball more than 10-12x a game, but he gives you a consistent big play threat. He now has 16 runs of 20+ yards in the last 2 seasons.

Of course, if he (or Ali) fumbles again he should sit the rest of that game and if he ever, ever celebrates early again he should never get off the bench.

This loss had zero to do with AJ Rose getting 5 carries and everything to do with the offense not being to stay on the field and the defense not being able to get off of it. The one game we need Gran to go ultra conservative and just run it down their throats we try to pass right out off the gate and end up only running 36 total plays. Hell, we averaged 4.3 per carry and held Mizzou to 3.5.

I appreciate Wilson helping us to win 10 games a few years ago, but he has gotten worse. He is indecisive and makes poor decisions. His receivers do not help him out, but I would go 100% Gatewood from here on out.

We just aren't good enough to think we can show up and beat SEC teams. Vanderbilt might have beaten us last week.

- It really is unfathomable that we haven't had a QB recruit pan out in over a decade. There have been a couple game mangers but none since Woodson that actually created a legit passing attack.

- How many storms is the Gulf Coast going to get hit with this year, JFC.

The reason (justifiably so) folks want CRod over AJ, is that he runs mean and slowly waterboards the opposing defenses. The cumulative pounding opens **** up, theoretically.

Rose or Terry or both do something every game that exposes their lack of feel for playing the sport. It’s obvious that they are nervous and don’t react with confidence... you can spread that to coaching as well.

either way, it’s a boring-*** style And when you get pounded by Mizzou- time to take some heat.

Rodriguez runs like Benny Snell did. So of course we can start the guys who runs like Benny Snell’s change of pace backup did/does.

Rose will break off a big run when the seas part for him and there’s nobody to touch his shoe laces so he falls down.

  • Wilson is only in year 5 of college football (redshirt in 2016 at Oregon, JC in 2017); I think he makes the leap next year.
  • Have a feeling Gatewood isn't that great either; Stoops has a lot of money riding on each win. Can't believe he's sticking with a Junior (who sucks) out of blind loyalty.
  • I haven't paid attention to it, but could Rose possibly be better at blocking, catching passes out of the backfield, etc.? He's not the biggest problem, but it does seem like he's not our best option at RB.
  • Bill Simmons had Howie Long on his podcast. Long only talked about Bo Jackson for a minute, but he mentioned that Bo didn't work out and his training diet consisted of burgers and potato chips. Makes you wonder how much is inherit speed and strength with these guys vs how much the weight room helps. I've always heard that speed gains don't happen in college (i.e., you'll be as fast as a senior as you were as a freshman).

Terry hasn’t gotten worse. He’s exactly the same.

He's the same passing the ball.. but he isn't the same running it (which can be expected after his injury). He's busted a couple but it seems like he wants absolutely no contact... which makes it very difficult when we have so many QB runs. Overall, he's taken a step back.

- I’ve always found him to be an awful rusher.

- The Bo Jacksons and Herschel Walkers are complete freaks. Doesn’t apply to most even top level athletes.

Gatewood running the ball is gonna be a different kind of transition. That guy is huge and it looks like he needs an extra step or two to get moving. He takes up chunks with his strides but it takes him a bit to get started.
