Virtual Lunch Randoms:

- It is so surreal to teach through Google. This is my 22nd year of classroom instruction and this has taken away everything I love about my job. There is just something about my personality feeding off the energy of my students and their personalities.

I hope we can get it back together in September because I'm not sure about this. My head is swimming with other negative thoughts, but I'm not ready to reflect on them yet. It's not all bad, but I worry about the future . . . of everything.

- Let's talk about food since it's lunch! I don't often eat fast food burgers, but when I do, there is NOTHING WORSE than having an unmelted, cool slice of cheese thrown on that processed beef patty. Burger King and Hardees's seem to be the biggest offenders of this travesty and it is why I rarely frequent their establishments.

- Hey, anth! You'll be thrilled to know that the garden bar at our local Ruby Tuesday in Bowling Green is back up and fully operational.

- I've said it before and I'll say it again, "Banchero" sounds like the odds-on favorite that ran a disappointing 5th in one of the Kentucky Derbies from the 70s/80s.

- Ugh. Whatever.

Good Afternoon:

:: All the grilling talk has me firing up the Genesis tonight for burgers and fries. I've adapted one of The Food Lab's techniques for scratch fries. Blanching the potatoes in water that has a little baking soda softens the potatoes in a way that creates a craggy surface. The end result is a super crunchy outside and perfect baked potato inside. The best fries I've ever had were at Les Halles (RIP). These are as close to those as I've come.

:: Anybody else cut their bacon in half before they cook it? I like to do it because the illusion of "more." You eat four pieces, but in reality it's only two. Oh wait, it's just me? Nevermind.

:: I have the expo dream..."I NEED A RUNNER!!!!!!!"

:: The more I see athlete activism the more it reminds me of the movie "Amazing Grace and Chuck." That's where I kind of see this thing going eventually.

:: The NBA's problem is the same that it's always been for years. You only really need to watch the last five minutes of a game. Now, I'm into the offense friendly brand of bubble basketball. I think it's fun. However, the point about predictability is spot on.

:: I can't believe we've got this far on skin care and there hasn't been a single, "it puts the lotion in the basket," joke.

:: All that said Cetaphil is kinda dope.

:: NTI update. I've taken on the role of "lunch lady", PE Teacher, and Security.

:: To all the teachers on here, especially those of you in special education...you all should be on the short path to sainthood.

:: Another perk of the pre-COVID above ground pool purchase...swimming recess. The boy had a tough mid-morning, so during his first break we took it all out in the pool for 30 minutes. Set him straight for the second session. The wife is the Pandemic MVP...by far.

:: Speaking of the missus...she found a no knead bread recipe on King Arthur's website that is phenomenal. That bread has been been the star of quarantine. We absolutely love it. Just mix the ingredients with a wooden spoon. Let it proof for a while. Bake at 450.

Burger King still has the audacity to have their burgers come without cheese by default. I don't have strong feelings about cheese on chicken sandwiches but people who order hamburgers are sociopaths.

Uh...no. I have an issue when they take their political stance to the venue that they "work" in. They have every right to protest, voice their opinion, etc.....go on TV, buy some air time, write a blog....but when you are at work, then do what you are paid to do....same as you and I.

If their employer is fine with it, then they can do whatever they want. They may or may not face outside consequences, but as far as employment, they can do whatever they want, and don't have to justify any of it to you. You're certainly free to change the channel and stop following the league.

In this case, their employer is fine with it and we all know the reasons why. Your statement doesn't hold water in the real world.

My statement doesn't hold water? What are you talking about? You weren't talking about the real world, you were complaining about the NBA. If it offends you, don't watch it. Pretty simple.

Mags is really perpetuating this idea that the vast majority of Kentucky fans don’t like terry Wilson. I don’t know a single person that doesn’t want to see that dude behind center down on the plains. Really wish he’d cut that **** out.

<—— not 100% sold on Terry Wilson

I love Terry, but I imagine Gatewood will be better pretty quickly. With that said, I hope Terry crushes it.

*I wear an spf lotion on my face every day... no shame in protecting your skin

*Had a rough morning at the vet. Old man has been hobbling a bit more on his back legs. Just advanced arthritis so the vet upped his pain medicine dosage and basically said "I hope this helps him, but he is nearly 14... so you have to keep in mind whats best for him" which i translated to mean I may have to make a tough decision in the next couple months if hes still hurting or it gets worse. I havent told my wife yet, just gonna mention he has a new prescription to take and leave it at that.

*The music from Yellowstone doesnt get enough praise. Always great picks... we're re-watching from season 1 and it was just as good back then

*My dad got busted about 90 minutes into his grandsons first virtual school day taking him to Dairy Queen. He tried to claim that their internet was down.

*Are the political national conventions necessary anymore? Does anyone watch both with an open mind? (both answers are No)

*Big Terry Wilson guy- He's not without fault and I have no idea what he will look like coming off of injury, but I'll base my opinion on his W/L record. If Gatewood emerges as a better option, it likely wouldnt be bc of anything Wilson did- Gatewood just has a better pedigree/potential. Wilson is my secod favorite Terry, behind that guy who was in the wheelchair with fireworks going off around him.

I like KSR but he is starting to base the idea of UK fans way too much on Facebook comment sections and other social media platforms. BBN loves Terry overall and I feel like he creates controversies like this where they dont really exist in the real world.

But a few less routine passes in the dirt and 1-2 completed deep balls at Auburn would help shut it all down.

I'd like to see Gatewood throw a single pass before I get too excited. Obviously we can win with a run first, run second, throw third QB, but a confident Terry or Stephen Johnson type is who we need under center. Plus Terry is nails

Honestly, I'd prefer if we put a little more importance on the passing game than what we saw from the gameplan with Terry last year and even Johnson's 2 years. I get that running is our hallmark now, and I'm not advocating for AIR RAID!! bs, but getting Terry in an early rhythm and actually using the TE consistently are key to expanding the offense

-g*d damn right. I love that man...i prefer to call him 10 win Terry.

-just goes to show you that many people are stupid...and infatuated by star rating and hype.
Has the NCAA even cleared Gatewood to play yet? Did I miss something?

Gran is going to be more run-happy than ever after last season, especially with the run-blocking Monstars for an OL, and Terry can hand it off as well as anyone. I expect to see a lot of wildcat too as Gran figured out some kind of magic with the QB run game, and they'll probably be hesitant to run Terry a ton coming off injury. Hope the magic wasn't all Bowden, or there's going to be a LOT of redass around here.

TDT's win-loss record is entering Heshimu = Warrior territory.

Matt must be hard up for content and manufacturing controversy. If Touchdown Terry is healthy, he's as entrenched a returning quarterback as we've had in years.

What's the other option? Hoping Gatewood gets eligible and picks up a new offense during a pandemic quickly enough to challenge? Sawyer Smith? Nik Scalzo? Beau Allen?

Ok.

Most young QBs struggle immensely. Terry is no different and he won 10 games. Like most everything in life, you get much better with experience. Three of our more recent quarterbacks, Stephen Johnson, Mike Hartline, Andre Woodson went from wondering if they'd ever get it together to stone cold, tough as nails killers by their senior years. TW is gonna be fine.

anth, Cetaphil and Cerave are basically the same thing and are solid for drugstore products. If you want to get fancier, The Ordinary is affordable and has a bunch of options to choose from based on your particular skin tendencies/needs. Hyaluronic acid is the GOAT.

Ten Win Terry is the mf man.

I know it's their schtick, but Penn Station's employees hollering at each other that you've arrived and then the last person to yell to the others turning to you and saying yes may I take your order is weird. Like...this kitchen is ten feet long. I know you all saw me come in. Sammich pls.

in the top ten of my covid annoyances: not being able to get a refill without getting a whole new cup.

"The Terminator" main theme is right up there with "Axel F" for great 80s synthy movie themes.

As for me and my family, we follow Touchdown Ten Win Gator chompin Terry. Says a lot about you if you aren't 100% sold on the best qb we've had with Stoops.
