- Melatonin dreams are extra trippy.

- Today's NBA feels somewhat like 2000's baseball to me... the numbers are obscene but I'm not sure what they actually mean.

- Have had all the time in the world to learn a bit on the guitar and just haven't. Probably something I liked the idea of more than actually doing.

Have taken some big exams in my day. Never got too worried about multiple choice, the answer was in front of you, just had to figure it out.

Oral board exam, shew- now that was tough. Examiner could smell fear, if you weren’t sure of yourself, they’d turn up the heat. Many very smart people broke under the pressure. Would be a terrible recurring nightmare.

-I think Paolo-to-Duke is less an indictment of Cal's use of bigs and more the reality that K's current Duke staff is just absolutely killing it. I never pegged Jon Scheyer as an ace recruiter, but he's being given most of the credit for their recent hauls. Nate James is growing a reputation of being a terrific bigs coach. Nolan Smith is active in social justice matters. There's something to be said for surrounding yourself with former players who are still young enough to connect with kids. I'd love for Cal to do the same, but he just doesn't have any Kentucky kids to choose from yet. Ulis would be a great start.

-Something seemed off with that Huntley-Hatfield kid once he left IMG (an unbelievable prep experience) for some no-name "academy" in Pennsylvania. Never passed the smell test. Kinda feels like Chris Walker 2.0

-Two "political" takes that aren't really political takes:

1. Andy Barr's commercial about losing his wife is really well-done. But it also aired four times in the 45 minutes I was watching TV with my folks last night. And his opponent has a very powerful ad, too. Barr just needs to change up the messaging, and sooner rather than later.

2. As stupid as political conventions are (and I'm only switching over during NBA breaks), the way both parties have done them this year is still miles better than the usual "show old people dancing to Fleetwood Mac while balloons get smacked around" gamut. Would much prefer candidates presenting TEDTalk-style speeches on certain topics (economy, foreign policy, etc.), then be asked follow-up questions by a panel of journalists (yeah, I know). They'll go back to the old way ASAP because having thousands of people there is much better for the local economy (counterpoint: PROTESTS), but still....ideally, this is the way to go.

-You all know that my mom has been battling a form of Alzheimer's for a number of years now. Her form of it was always more related to vision than dementia, essentially rendering her blind. But last night was the first time it reared its head as straight-up dementia. She was really confused about my dad, almost like she didn't know him. It must come and go, because a few minutes later she was okay again. But still....DIAF, Alzheimers.

I heard a story from a radiologist about a gal who got so freaked out during her radiology boards that she hid in the bathroom and they had to hand images through the space under the door. Still passed her which was surprising.

That's weird. Aside from my recurring college dream where I forget to go to a class all year and/or miss the final, I've had the football one a bunch.

I don't know ANY of the plays or verbiage obviously, and don't even have a real uniform. I just run around and improvise like a Tecmo Bowl dude, and my high school basketball coach is the football coach.

*Now, all we need is Chase to post that creepy guy that he claims is in everyone's dream.

Yeah, that story doesn’t pass the smell test to me, but I wasn’t there.

we had 10 sections, if you failed less than three you could remediate those sections the next year. More than that, had to retake the whole exam. You got three chances to pass, otherwise you’d have to repeat the entire residency (4 years) or seek life elsewhere.

One of my classmates, the smartest of us actually, totally got psyched out, had to repeat a section the next year. He passed then.

-Alright, folks, what your skin care routine? Need to up my skin care game and I'm a noob. Looking at the Brickell regiment. Riding and sun exposure is causing too many blemishes on my gorgeous face.

-I thought rob had the homosexual dreams.

-Melatonin is fantastic. Never had an hangover or wild dreams like nyquil. Only bad news is I basically require it now.

-BHH being with Maze was always the REAL issue. They can float rumors about his game not improving but that's it. Assuming they pushed for a commitment, Maze intervened, and we moved on. Like Green from last year. I feel Cal is more comfortable not getting strung along by recruits now that he can hit the waiver wire. Paolo obviously didn't sit well because it was Duke.

-Things seem to being going well in Wisconsin. ☹

-Cool that Sandman kid has blown up. Keeps getting bags from the major networks and throwing jabs at the RNC. That's just great.

-Good call on the Rome podcasts. 15 minutes is perfect for a work commute.

My 8 year old had 3 soccer games and 3 volleyball games on tap for this weekend, but Governor DeWine (who I like a lot) passed some sort of law where a team can only play 1 game in a 24 hour period so both tourneys were canceled. She is beyond bummed out.

It sucks.

OTOH, by weekend has now been freed up so my neighbor and I are going to smoke some meat and excessively drink some alcohol all day instead of just at night.

* School has been great a few days in, but I know it is just a matter of time before there is an overreaction to something and we will be back to homeschooling.

My kids missed the bus on day 1 and my oldest forgot her glasses today, but other than that it has gone pretty smoothly.

* Smoked sweet potatoes with maple syrup/cinnamon butter is a great, easy side dish.

* Absolutely slammed at work. Worked until 5am Monday/Tuesday morning.

* I was going to say that AG Cameron is a future star, but I think you can take the "future" off of that description now.

* I saw a Red get forced at home plate on a bases-loaded single to RF last night. Not to go all Chumps here, but that Staff has to go.

* Loved the first 2 seasons of Umbrella Academy.

* Didn't love The One and Only Ivan. The book is one of my favs to read to my kids and the movie just didn't quite match up.

* Alright, leave me alone and get back to work.

I think the NBA numbers are, in part, a product of teams realizing that putting someone on the floor who can't score is a waste of time. Hell, at this point it seems that if you're a 5 who can't shoot 3-pointers, your days are numbered.

Yup. MKG is an afterthought with Dallas. If he had a jumper, he'd be perfect for the 3 and D generation. He can guard 1 through 4 and probably even the new stretch 5s. Without a jumper he struggles to stay on a roster.

* I often have dreams of going to a concert and some short, fat guy sticking his greasy hands in my drink and saying "Taste me." Concerning.

* The drone of a zoom meeting from the other side of the house while your spouse tries to pay attention to a videoconference is the song of the 2020 summer.

* Jerry Falwell, Jr. got $10.5M to resign from Liberty University. On the positive side, he's set for life and doesn't have to deal with Liberty University any more. Counterpoint: he's now known as a cuck.

Strikes and gutters, I guess.

~NBA in this covid state is glorified dirt bowl/blue court/Rucker...no D, no opposing fans to help create intensity and drama...no home fans to help create intensity and drama. Throw in their social justice ignorance and it is pointless.

~Clinique for years...I am 57, look 45, and no reason to change.

~Cameron destroyed the left last night...now if he would do the same to Andy. But first, he better worry about Louisville becoming Beirut when the Taylor decision is announced.

~Until cops are actually allowed to defend the cities against the ignorant, the riots and violence will not stop.

~Great to see Lefty rolling...confidence builder. One last hoorah at Winged Foot would be icing on the cake for him.

I wish idiots like UKO had the self awareness and the balls to admit that politics has ALWAYS been a huge part of sports, and they’re only annoyed when the positions and stances run counter to their own.

Uh...no. I have an issue when they take their political stance to the venue that they "work" in. They have every right to protest, voice their opinion, etc.....go on TV, buy some air time, write a blog....but when you are at work, then do what you are paid to do....same as you and I.

I wish idiots such as yourself had the self awareness and the balls to recognize the difference, but I do give people too much credit at times.

"Political" Sports Randoms:
  • I don't think people really like politics in sports. It's interesting, especially to political people, but I think it is a net negative. I'm old enough to remember Rush Limbaugh being on NFL Countdown and even though I liked him at the time, I didn't like him on the show and thought it was a terrible decision.
  • The Detroit Lions taking a day off practice because of a shooting in Wisconsin is just dumb. Really dumb. Same for the the Raptors thinking about boycotting a playoff game over it. I get boycotting something over policy, but good lord, if teams are going to take a day off whenever a cop is involved in a questionable shooting of a violent felon, they're not going to like the results. People don't like uneven or irrational reactions to events - and this is a perfect example of an irrational reaction.
  • I believe the NBA ratings - which are supposedly way down - have more to do with style of play and the breakup of the season than SJW stuff. What I mean by style of play is the lack of diversity in style of play. The analytics have proved out what teams should be doing (more 3's, FTs, etc.). And while it's often beautiful basketball, it does feel a little predictable at times. I miss the days where one team would play fast, another would play bully ball, and another would play small-ball, etc. All that said, there's got to be at least a 5% hit due to people not wanting to see all the SJW ****. You'd think the analytics could show that too.
  • Sportswriters aren't asking athletes tough questions. But then again, when can you count on sportswriters?

I've watched MKG in his limited minutes with Dallas and it appears he hasn't improved much since leaving UK, which is a bummer.

Teammates are scared to look his way (even up ahead to him on fast breaks) unless absolutely necessary and his ball-handling is still sub-par.

At least Tony Allen could break guys off the dribble. Unless it's a straight-line drive, MKG is absolutely useless out there. The defensive gap between Finney-Smith and MKG isn't that far, so you might as well give minutes to the offensive threat.

Feel bad for him -- but he got a nice rookie contract.

Nerlens is another guy that kinda plateaued. He'll never be a starter but he can guard almost all 5 positions and contests everything.
