Played in the Ky State Am qualifier at Winchester Country Club in a group with @tfields01 yesterday. He shot a solid 68 (with a double) which was good for second place and will move on. I shot 82 and am glad i survived the day. Well played fields.
Cawood and I were trading messages on twitter before the round and he was FREAKING OUT about playing for some damn reason, and he played really solid. 82 was the absolute worst number he could've put on the board yesterday. Flew a wedge into the stick on one hole and it banged all the way off the green, and then hit the middle of the flag on another pitch and it didn't drop. Had a bunch of putts that were well struck that didn't fall. Nothing worse than a bogey for him on the card, which is more than I can say.
Yesterday felt really good for me. Since I made the US Mid-Am in 2018, it's basically been nothing but frustration for me with golf since then. Little time to play with Kid #2 last year, a bad wrist that just won't get better, and some nuclear blow-up rounds in tournaments. Felt like I knew what I was doing again yesterday for the first time in a while. I'll actually get to play a decent bit between now and the State Am, so hopefully I can keep it going.
