Played in the Ky State Am qualifier at Winchester Country Club in a group with @tfields01 yesterday. He shot a solid 68 (with a double) which was good for second place and will move on. I shot 82 and am glad i survived the day. Well played fields.

Cawood and I were trading messages on twitter before the round and he was FREAKING OUT about playing for some damn reason, and he played really solid. 82 was the absolute worst number he could've put on the board yesterday. Flew a wedge into the stick on one hole and it banged all the way off the green, and then hit the middle of the flag on another pitch and it didn't drop. Had a bunch of putts that were well struck that didn't fall. Nothing worse than a bogey for him on the card, which is more than I can say.

Yesterday felt really good for me. Since I made the US Mid-Am in 2018, it's basically been nothing but frustration for me with golf since then. Little time to play with Kid #2 last year, a bad wrist that just won't get better, and some nuclear blow-up rounds in tournaments. Felt like I knew what I was doing again yesterday for the first time in a while. I'll actually get to play a decent bit between now and the State Am, so hopefully I can keep it going.

And if GD baseball - which the Governor's son plays - is allowed to go full-bore, but BIG TIME YOUTH SOCCER is cancelled, there's gonna be (probably not much) hell to pay.

I did not realize that youth soccer was cancelled. I thought Kentucky kids were going out of state to play? Anyway I know golf, tennis, baseball, softball and cross country have been either practicing or playing since June 15th. And other states outside of Kentucky have had soccer and basketball.

I too know teachers and even some of them work outside of Kentucky but the ones i know (both carnally and otherwise) are at least concerned if not very worried about working in an environment that at least potentially promotes a virus that affects older people with pre existing conditions and not children.

Wait. What I actually meant to type was: GOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

I think a lot of this cluster has to do with teachers’ routine of doing jack **** in the summer. The admins were working their asses off, no doubt. But, now the teachers have popped their heads up. I also love the non-ironic analysis of this giving them “time to prepare” as well.
Teachers are some of the most self-important, conceited ******** out there when combined as a group. They make a good salary to work 9 months out of the year, then complain when faced with the same reality every other working parent has been faced with this year. You cannot convince me that sitting in a room with 30 kids at school is more dangerous than sitting on a cash register and ringing up 300 customers.

Screw them and every other member of a government employee union. If you down with bad boy... I mean public unions, then screw you too.

Yep. Every single public school teacher I know wants to be back in-person. They feel like they've been hijacked by KEA reps, who have strong-armed ANDY into these moves.
Bunch of stupid sheep.

They're going to be really surprised when they see what happens to their pension too, when anyone with a lick of sense knew what was coming.

We've had a Fall Break trip planned to Hilton Head since December and now that's week is the suggested return date. I can't imagine Fayette County will be back in classes the first week possible so I assume as long as we're not threatened with prison for going to the beach the nephews will be learning to read from the pool.

We are in a holding pattern - having "practices" but nothing full contact or resembling actual soccer. The state club association has been building up to games through "phases," but after moving up to "Phase 3" (allowing normal practices and scrimmages) something spooked them and within a week they ran back to "Phase 2" (distanced passing ********). My oldest kid doesn't even know what team he's on yet because the coaches haven't been able to watch them play (for real) and move kids around.

My wife is a coordinator and is trying to schedule games with other clubs even though we have no idea if we're going to be able to play or even have fields available. It's great. My youngest is supposed to play Louisville FC's academy at the end of the month, but there's no way that's going to happen.

Ironically, many grandparents are being brought into the fray because there is no one else to look after kids with parents going back to work.

Even more ironically: I actually care for my grandparents but I am well aware of the need for state provided daycare, which I assume was your dismissive point ltsk

Great news, South Carolina is off the list of places you're not allowed to travel. Enjoy.

James Franklin just on tv basically saying they’re playing. He has an obligation to take care of his kids and families and they want to play.

Going to be a lot more of this in the coming days. I don’t think anyone has thought through the mental aspects of cancelling everything.

My kids start back in 2 weeks. My youngest's select soccer has been going strong with camps and practices and her school volleyball team started up last week with tryouts then practices.

The older one plays in a city wide rec soccer league and she hasn't started up yet, but she can't wait to get back to school.

These kids need the interaction with other kids.

I understand some apprehension on teachers' part, but if they aren't in a hot zone (hint: not KY) there is next to zero risk. I'm certainly not going to bash teachers, I think they are severely underpaid and unappreciated, but they need to tone down the drama.

If cases spike, then you address it. Right now, there is no reason to overreact in KY, IMO.

I honestly thought after the riots, 5 funerals for George Floyd, and the thousand plus people at the John Lewis funeral, people would say "screw it" and just ignore the restrictions.

I guess it will take something more important than having your nose rubbed in the fact that your life has been turned upside down by the very people making it happen; like college football being cancelled. If that's what it takes, then I'm all for it.

UCL, 05s team started going full squad this weekend. Coach said he was tired of the ********. The kids don’t wear any licensed gear or unis and basically show up to play “pick up”.

Public officials should be thrown out of office for the mental mind games they’ve played with the youth of this country. Political pawns.

G finished up his tee ball season last night, still has the tourney, and starts soccer next Thursday. Pumped.

Proud of the little dudes, we're the youngest team in the league, and hadn't won a game all season. Got that W in bottom of the 3rd after a scoreless top of the inning. They fought hard and got loads beter from the first practice.

So my kids got their school schedules yesterday. They will be in active Zoom/Google Meet classes and instruction for 5+ hours in a marathon session during school hours. Every single day. That’s absolutely brutal. The most I think my wife or I have done is 4 hours in a work day with active meetings. My wife works for an online university and her students don’t even do that much.

But at least they’re staying safe, right?

Really holding out hope that the Archdiocese shows some gumption and proceeds as planned. I feel like there's a decent chance they will. Literally every parent I've spoken with is on board and comfortable with what catholic schools have decided to do and put into action and they're making it known to the Archbishop.

Yesterday was meet the teacher day. See the classroom. Drop off supplies. Little girl dresses herself in her uniform (with the headband) which wasn't required. Giggling and skipping the whole way to the car and inside the school. That and seeing everything they were doing put my mind pretty much at ease. Then an hour later Beshear makes his asinine recommendation. Yea, not today, Andy. We don't even have the heart to tell her it may not happen (again).

I think some of our coaches are there. But there have been police patrolling the park during practices (although I don't think they give a **** - a couple of them brought Popsicles one day) and anonymous whining to club (and maybe government) officials about coaches not following rules or keeping kids separated or whatever. I assume those are parents of kids who suck.

My oldest kid also plays JV for his high school and they are limited, too, because of KHSAA directives. I'm a pessimist by nature, but I would be shocked if we play anything resembling a full season.

Really odd the private institutions are able to get teachers back in the building safely. Wonder why that is?

I have no issue with individual teachers, only the union, and that's not exclusive to teachers btw. In fact, my favorite solicitation calls are when a trade union calls and asks if we want to unionize. 30 seconds of maniacal laughing, get hung up on.

After all of the protest ******** in May/June, I know for a fact the cops don’t care about Karen/Kevin nonsense. Love our local police chief who pretty much said he’s worried about “real” police issues and doesn’t have the manpower to do everything. Teenagers/kids playing soccer isn’t really a grave threat to public safety. Not when there are people shooting each other downtown.

- Is this the beginning of the end for Cal, or are we already towards the middle of the end? At this point does he even entertain looking for the right coach or does he just text a buddy in a lesser situation? Do we still have a ***** bus even if we dont have sports?
