I had no intention of sucker punching Matt with my post. I should have posted his whiny tweet that my post was related to. He actually had a tweet thread a couple hours earlier that was pretty even on it. I don't want his bar, his site or his show to fail due to this. That was never my intention.
But the collateral damage of a cancelled college football season will be mind-blowing. I can't even wrap my head around it. I think UK is in a better position than many schools but there will be programs dropped and jobs eliminated.
The thing about The Libertarian Party this year Is it’s not just a bunch of right wing people that want to smoke weed. A lot of the Bernie bro’s And commies are gonna be voting for Jo this go around. Obviously not gonna be close to winning but I think we will at least get the 5%

I can't understand what changed with the Big10. They just had schedule reveal show for programming on the Big10 Network on Wednesday and then will cancel today. I have not seen anything that would trigger that quick of a turnaround.
-My job is based on federal requirements so I *think* I am safe for the time being, but If the SEC does scrap the fall season then I imagine there will be some layoffs here. We survived the 2008 crisis and this one up to this point with some slight pay reductions but nobody lost their jobs (though we didnt fill a lot of positions once people left/retired).
-I think the decision to play/not play is one of the biggest in the history of higher education. Maybe that says something that the biggest economic decision is based on athletics and anything related to academics- but nonetheless the trickling financial impact is going to be a tough pill to swallow.
-Mengus taking shots at Demling's family bc Jody was reporting on the initial Trevor Lawrence plea to play was really bizarre. Although it seems that Mark has changed his stance after seeing the overwhelming majority of athletes want to play and feel better about their safety in the current protocols than they do outside of those walls.
-I'm the praying type, and I've been keeping all of you that have choices to make on kids going back to school in those prayers. I can't imagine the stress of worrying about your child's health- even if the odds say they will be fine.
-I think there are more people out there that publicly mock Trump for being a lunatic, who will cast their vote for him in November behind the curtain. I guess that's how he won in the first place. She mentioned one still had "a good bit left in it" and I can't imagine how awful that swill would taste. I've got some others from his collection, one which was my great grandfathers that he received from four roses when he ran a still there. I dig the nostalgia of having those around.

Dominos already starting to fall. My sister-in-law is an assistant volleyball coach at a school in the WAC. Team won their conference last year and made the NCAA-T. Due to budget cuts within the university, she'll be out of a job at the end of year. Not that the job paid a lot, and her family is thankfully OK financially, but it still hurts.

-I will say this...if the whole "cancel every sport because you can't play football" approach of the MAC, etc. filters down to the high school level, I'll be writing another letter to the school board. Not figuring out a way for 60 kids to play a full-contact sport shouldn't affect my kid's ability to run a 5k through the woods by herself. The financial web isn't as intertwined on the HS level, but I could see it being a FAIRNESS!!!1 issue.
-I actually thought that Peevy taking the DePaul job would lead to a dismissal of that retread Dave Leitao, and then a hiring of Kenny Payne at DePaul. Payne would KILL IT in that job. -If KP leaves, you need a guy who can navigate the current CBB recruiting landscape. It's no longer just locking down 5-stars, you have to know how to work the transfer wire like an ace. Two younger assistants who seem like studs in that regard are Matt Abdelmassih (Hoiberg's guy at ISU and now Nebraska, and who also recruited strongly at St. John's in between) and Ulric Maligi at Texas Tech. Think both of those guys would kill it. I'd be happy with either.
Bruiser makes more sense for the Barbee/Robic spot...the "Cal guy" who isn't necessarily major HC material, but is trusted by Cal and can handle big-picture stuff while leaving recruiting to the other guys. I know Barbee has gotten credit for some recent recruiting wins, but I still question how much of that was actually him.

So many forget that the presidential election is decided by a dozen states at this point and Ky ain't one of them. I had to remind people of this Saturday at my son's 7th birthday party with some authority that may have temporarily scared and hurt some feelings. No, the country didn't handle everything perfectly, and yes, it became political because everything is stupid.
But no matter how things were handled from the outset and how many masks were worn, how much social distance was practiced, and how many gallons of hand sanitizer was used, there would still be positive cases. Especially among 20 year old college kids who have been locked up for 5 months and just want to party, man.
And because there would still be positive cases, you would still have risk-averse college administrators scared to death of even one player getting the virus, which could expose the school to liability.
And the advent of social media has just exacerbated the problem, given that every positive case is being treated like 9/11.
So if CFB is canceled, it's not because "America failed." It's because 2020 is the worst and the decision makers are short-sighted cowards.

Yeah reading the school district’s plan in this very issue was a real uplifting piece of “welp, here we are as a society!” the other day.
FYI- doors get closed for drills or “events”. During shooter drills the kids are supposed to social distance but if there’s an actual shooter you don’t have to social distance.

If any business or school gets sued over it, they should have the nuts to defend that claim vigorously and not payout due to social pressure.
