-One of my favorite mad men scenes. ****** quality video

-Met over my mom's yesterday for 30 minutes for my nephew's 16th birthday cake. There were 12 of us there and everyone was spread away from each other but I felt super paranoid that someone was going to yell at us in their neighborhood. Luckily they don't live in one that chokes people.

Actually started rewatching The Wire last night. 60 episodes, should take about a month to knock out. After that, will follow up with Mad Men, Breaking Bad and The Sopranos. Again.

Listened to the 2012 national championship postgame show while running this morning. Funny to hear takes and opinions from Matt in the moment. What stood out was "if Cal is here for a decade, he could have 3 or 4 titles and 6, 7 or 8 Final Fours." Not criticizing him for that -- a lot of folks agreed -- but those things are damn hard to come by. And if things had broken differently, he could have had those numbers after a decade.

Read an article the other day about the (no offense, Asians) Asian Flu in 1957. Death toll in America was 116,000, which is akin to roughly 230,000 in today's numbers adjusted for population.

Gotta think Cal really wants Haarms. A back-to-the-basket rim protector is perfect for what he runs. Just hope the kid isn't leaving because he wants to showcase his face-up game.

My neighbors across the street are taking full advantage of lax policing lately and throwing some no effs given bonfires. Pretty sure they’re burning all of their dig up landscaping, old fences, I think some furniture they dug out of the basement/garage, anything. Flames soaring up near roof level, crackling loud enough it sounds like it’s on our porch the works really.

I’m watching Breaking Bad for the first time. Halfway through Season One. Interesting and entertaining show. But I just can’t get over the “meth” part of the show. The DEA brother-in-law is fantastic. I’ve heard it gets better, so I’ll continue on.

I’m also simultaneously rewatching Mad Men. Season One is absolutely amazing. So fresh. And yes, Richie would absolutely worship. Could see an office with both Richie and SAE. Throw in a tmfh to top it off.

As we celebrate Easter this week and the events of the Resurrection, could it be a better time than right now for President Trump to pardon Joe Exotic?

It's the confidence boost and shot at redemption America needs imo.

I'm not done with the Tiger King thing yet and I don’t know what he is in jail for, but from what I've witnessed thus far I feel safer with Joe Exotic off the streets. Especially since tigers can catch Covid.

Back in the Office Randos:

-17 days not having access to the office, ugh. Working from home was fine, and I developed some nice systems for taking more advantage of that in the future...BUT, never been happier to have my real office back.

-Knives Out was a cool idea, but I didn't really enjoy.

-Jess still has it, shew.

-Brooks will be the one of the least-hyped 5* returnees we've had, but I keep thinking back to his final game and the winning/confident plays he made vs Florida. He has all the tools to be a damn good college player.

-I realize it varies by player/skill level, but is there an overall average theoretical payout for Horse Racing? It has to be worse than a toucing slot machine, which still clocks in at around 90%. It's more fun than lighting money on fire though, so i guess I'll continue to do it for the time being. :uzi:

-Why does frozen pizza suck so damn bad? Never really understood why they can't figure out the cheese. Some are better than others, of course, but they're all marginal-to-bad.

-Ozark is probably a little overrated & ridiculous, but that's my genre so I enjoy -- dark family drama w/ murder/drugs/shenanigans --> that's the formula for a show I'm guaranteed to watch. Any sleeper recs for something like that assuming I've seen all the popular ones?

-This weather is helping, a little. Figure any day the hammer will drop on golf though, threats daily from leaders. [eyeroll]

-Watched a few minutes of the NBA2K tourney, and the game actually looks pretty dope. Was most impressed by the fact these dudes are running legit plays, sets, etc -- looked like real basketball. In my era, basketball video games were all about running down and bombing immediately, or going 1on1 for a dunk.

-I'll leave you with my Favorite video from Doggie Twitter this month (wait for it) :joy:

  • I like Tombstone pizza... a lot.
  • Work is starting to slow down... not happy about that.
  • I have become religious about completing the exercise, stand and calorie rings on my iWatch. It's the only thing I have control over right now. If I missed a day at this point I'd feel like Tom Hanks losing Wilson on the raft.
  • I've never baked bread before in my life, but did so several times over the last week. It's surprisingly easy and the bread I made was good, but I'm pretty much done with it now.

Because ingredients are frozen not fresh, because they have to last a long time so they're packed with preservatives, (especially the cheese) because cooking the dough at a low-*** 425 degrees it's impossible to get it crispy. Because they figured out the sweet spot between quality and affordability and that sweet spot caters to frazzled parents not pizza aficionados...

The Sopranos
The Wire
Mad Men
Breaking Bad
Deadwood

All incredible.

Just rewatched Bloodline...season one was excellent. Danny is as good of a character as their is.

Six Feet Under is my underrated show pick. Definitely not for everyone, but excellent writing and acting. Best finale ever as well.

Bloodline Season 1 is probably my favorite season of any show, ever.

-I obviously understand all that, Bristol. But w/ food science you'd think there would have been some advancements by now. It's the same product as it was 30 years ago.

In regards to The Sopranos,

**SPOILER ALERT FOR THE 3 PEOPLE WHO'VE YET TO SEE IT**

Tony gets shot in the head in the final scene by the man in the members only jacket. They begin setting it up in episode 1 of the last season, which is titled "Members Only". It's the one where Gene wears the members only jacket while shooting that fat dude in the restaurant with the initials T.S. As Gene drives away, he rubs blood off his face and wipes it on a map. Supposedly, the spot he wipes the blood is the location of the diner in the final scene, Holsten's I believe.

Something else significant happens in that episode. Tony gets shot. And the screen goes to black.

Honest confession: Goodfellas and Casino are the only mob movies or show I've ever enjoyed. I hate The Godfather and The Sopranos. Just not my thing at all.

Bloodline Season 1 is probably my favorite season of any show, ever.

I've never seen it so I may agree with you but, as of now, that distinction belongs to True Detective season 1 with episode 7 coming in as my favorite episode of a show ever.

Curious, have you seen Breaking Bad or Mad Men, rich?

Yes. Both.

I liked all 3 series. Sopranos was groundbreaking, imo, as possibly the first wildly popular show that featured an antihero in Tony.

Of course Breaking Bad and Mad Men did as well with Walt and Don Draper.

All 3 series were outstanding. I just enjoyed all of the angles being presented in The Sopranos the most.

Just a fair warning, Six Feet Under will never leave your soul. That show is something else, man. And yes, the series finale is the best I’ve ever seen.

I finished Season 1 last year (b/c Tommy mentions it in every TV post he's ever made), and never kept going. I thought it was good, just not enough to keep me from moving to something else...maybe I'll circle back.

Not a law ball, but I think HB415 essentially enables the direct shipment of wine, beer, and liquor into and out of KY. It doesn't have any effect on out-of-state retailers, however. That's the next hurdle. Last year, the SCOTUS ruled in favor of Total Wine in a case against Tennessee citing the Commerce Clause, but the downstream effects are slow and not completely fleshed out. HB415 is one good thing that has come out of this shutdown. Just waiting on Beshear's signature I think.

:fistbump:

Send me a bill buddy, and then explain if it means my online transaction is Ky based as my company is, or if I still have to register in states I ship to. There is a tax lingo in there that absolutely scares the **** out of me on how to collect and pay that accurately.

If you haven’t seen it worth a peep...

Life....has Damian Lewis in it from Band of Brothers
He’s a cop sent to prison after being framed. Hot attorney gets him out and he gets a ton of money over it. Goes back to being a cop but with an agenda. The crimes he investigates are very bizarre to say the least.

Starting to see a slow down on the demo end. Not sure if Rudd or any of you other commercial construction folks are seeing it as well, but I had a record shattering March and was on track to have one in April as well. It’s a good thing, as March is probably going to carry us thru the summer. Looks like nothing is going to really start to relieve the pressure until a vaccine is out. Just kinda surreal that one month we have more work than we can handle and by May we’ll have probably laid off 90% of our employees. Depressing as ****.

Moved my office to my dining room. It’s super convenient to try and manage our on-going projects and bid new ones while my wife teeters on the brink of insanity trying to teach her class remotely (she’s an elementary school teacher, not a nail salon attendant, unfortunately) and make sure our 3 kids fulfill their online class obligations. I’m telling you, having the country closed is not gonna sit well with people for long. I think we have until Memorial Day until people start saying F it and begin living their lives again. Right or wrong. Jmo.

a fall Masters would be dope, I guess. Probably won’t have any college football so that’ll be something. Been thinking I should maybe use this time to get my boys in to golf since apparently baseball is off the table until trump is out of office.

I’m not saying Dr. Birx is attractive at all, I’m just saying there’s something about her

been listening to a lot of INXS and Toto lately.

fellas - pop that snus
