Yeah, spoke to an infectious disease specialist this weekend. People show up short of breath and can then just go in to septic shock in hours and require ventilators.

Or not much more than mild respiratory illness.

Do you feel lucky?

Mom is in Colorado on a consulting job and they told her to get the hell out and go home. Flying home Tuesday and I’m worried as hell. Almost 30 hrs each way driving, with packing, moving and house closing I just can’t swing driving to get her. Nor do I want her driving 3 straight days. Just no good all around.
This **** is real and the machismo BS isn’t going to stop it.

Yes, SF Bay Area. Moved last year when school ended.

Joey, I appreciate your input on the driving decision with my in laws. Never met you but your posts have been very insightful. Same with CB. Thanks guys.
No problem! Sorry for being amped up this week, but I’ve been doing a lot of extra “mitigation theater” for my own extended family since Thursday. Luckily, I got them to not host (/not attend): a wedding shower, a bachelorette party in Mexico, a toddler birthday party, two funerals, and several church services. It’s been difficult to navigate socially and weigh the risk/reward to get people on board so quickly, see: my FB post responses to my FIL. That’s why I’ve been more “gloves off” here to a detriment (venting). Apologies for being so harsh to everyone, especially to Booker.

My mom’s sister is the worst, she’s getting direct one degree of separation advice from a hospital director in Paris, and is just out there fancy free and in bad shape anyway. Nothing can be done with her and everyone is worried.

A pangolin is not even top 10 of awful **** Chinese people eat. I've eaten off the non-white people menu at Panda Garden back in the day. I got dried jellyfish. Which was a delight compared to the other treasures available.

If it is a disaster and I'm hungry and some dumbass lizard is walking down the street, I'm going full Mario Brothers. Koopa is probably delicious.

People eat the iguanas down here when they shoot them out of trees. Apparently not bad, but I haven’t tried it.

Dow futures down a cool G...

Here we go again.
Going to be a wild ride the next month or longer.

You need to look into some of those GSE preferreds. They might convert to common shares at a really good rate.

I've seen reports that South Korea is going to ban short selling for 6 months. That would be a huge help here.

^Or just hang tight.

-Everything I've seen suggest May/June slowdown then return late fall and will be something that sticks around forever. It's really going to suck in the short term but we're going to get through it and it's not likely to be something we deal with for years and years. We'll get some sort of vaccine, hopefully by then, and start to put this thing in it's rightful order of common seasonal viruses.

-Government is going to have to spend tons of money. Helping the health care they are signing off on tomorrow, small businesses, airlines, hotels, etc and more importantly addressing health care deficiencies so we don't have to do this again.

-Should be plenty of pent up demand as well. Been 3 days and I'm going nuts. Everyone canceling travel plans, spring break, no sports. Would think people are going to want to gtfo as soon as the coast is clear and spend some of that money.

Probably make another run for some more rice, beans, and baby stuff and then hunker down.

Might grab a couple cartons of Winstons and start smoking again.

Ended up going to Nashville after all, and of course it was bonkers. By 5pm every single bar was jam packed. Party busses, self propelled bike bars, and tractor pulled party wagons full of twerking hoes everywhere. Just crazy. That towns explosive growth is just off the charts.

I kept telling lassie — “this is what it looks like when 50,000 people cancel travel plans, the economy is being wiped out, and we’re in the midst of a worldwide pandemic.”

My wife is out of the work-field until June.... then they will revaluate... which usually means lay people off.

Reports of people getting it a second time already seem a bit disheartening

Have it on good authority that Publix has some trucks cooming Tuesday... hoping for Progresso soups and some white rice. Would *love* some OJ and bread but we'll see.

Doesn't matter anyway. Spending and debt only matter when the Democrats are in charge.

Thanks to catholic_back and Joey for their posts the last several days--extremely helpful in making some decisions about what to do for my mother (lives alone, currently undergoing cancer treatments). Made the trip this weekend to get her set up for the next few weeks.

Hope everyone stays safe during this mess. It's going to be a wild ride, but we'll make it.

Just wait until we refinance all that $27 trillion in debt. YUGE savings. Because that’s how that works.
Just curious, what government agency/programs other than the military, are you going to slash the funding of in order to get budgets under control? It would be great to cut all of them in half but that isn't happening. Do we have to say why?

Outside of the people who truly don't GAF, there were a lot of people who had already made plans to travel here for whatever reason: SECT, bachelor/ette parties, etc; they weren't going to stop.

And I know a lot of people who thought true lockdown was coming so they figured marcus get one more night of partying in.

Came home one night from a hard day on a site in Indy and said to hell with it. Wanted to move to the biggest baddest economy in the world. Almost impervious to recession (we shall see...never expected this ****). Many of our clients are all cash. The amount of money out here is astonishing. And the weather is pretty amazing too. Been 65-75 and Sunny 75% of the days I’ve been here. Btw, there isn’t **** in the streets where I live. SF feels like a world away even though it’s less than an hour away.
