You do realize the team you’re using as an example is arguably more of a blue blood than we are right???

Also, I’m not saying uniforms have anything to do with it, but you do realize that Ohio State is the only team north of the Mason Dixon to win a National Title In this century right???
Dude, I ain't him, but I think he knows that.

Had to go to a production plant in Tennessee from time to time.

On my first visit the group of gals figured out quickly I wasn't from the south and wanted to know which side of the Mason Dixon I was from.

When I said Nebraska all was well as that is just territory.

It’s all about winning. And whatever appeals to today’s recruits will help us win.
Thats exactly right. Times change, things change, traditions change. Always have, always will. We as humans like familiarity in our lives. So I understand why some, especially older fans give push back against change. Im sure in 40 or 50 years fans will be complaining because they don't like that Nebraska isn't wearing the black uniforms, because they are part of our tradition.

Probably. The point is that alternate uniforms are part of College Football. Traditional power or not. It’s a recruiting tool. This is just my opinion, and I’m probably in the minority, but when it comes to recruiting today I don’t think we’re at a point where we can just rest on our previous glories and expect recruits to flock to Lincoln. We need to use every recruiting advantage we can get, and if that means alternate uniforms then let’s do it.

Said he wants alternates home and away - the blackshirts I assumed. The cool part I liked is his idea that if the defense holds an opponent to x number of points we wear the black shirts the next game. I would drop the first idea and say shut outs = Black Shirts end of story.
A little weird...I think someone near him might have to point out the complexities of gameday blackshirts. Like you shutout a Sunbelt team and then have the best offense in the country the next week and have to wear your black shirt while giving up 30...or you never get to wear them, or you end up only wearing them against bad teams to make sure the d looks good. I prefer them in practice when the conditions are more controlled or even in warmups...

I’m pretty sure Frost understands the complexities of the blackshirts, growing up in the state and playing for the huskers and all... he gets it. He also isn’t opposed to some changes that could impact the team in some positive ways.

If it doesn’t work, he will be smart enough to tinker with it until it does, imho.

Maybe give players who excell patches they can they can patch to their unies. Maybe a skull and cross bone patch for players that really excell.

Would rather see the defense get skull and bone stickers on the back of their helmets for defensive achievements during the season..

I love the jerseys love the idea of having a few different jersey options going forward. Not sure I 100% agree with idea of wearing them as a reward for the Defense. This is a team game, will the offense get their own jerseys as reward if they put up say 600 yards offense? Plus I would like to see them even if the D isn't great.
I agree. I would love to change our road unis, I have always disliked the red pants and white jersey. I think we could go flashy like the chrome white road unis from a couple of years ago.

Your in the minority on this one for the most part..

When Nebraska played away games you Identified them right away with wearing red pants you knew that was Nebraska playing..

If we’re going to wear all white uniforms away from home we should at least wear a red helmet...I know I keep preaching this and will continue too..

There is a reason why we chant GO BIG RED thanks to Bob Devaney’s idea of wearing red pants for away games..
Let’s not lose sight of that ..

I think this has already been said, But schools that have white as one of their two primary colors have a very limited options. Look at Oregon with their colors being green and yellow, they can have a white jersey because road teams wear white and nothing is said about it not being a school color. Michigan is maze and blue but they wear white jerseys all the time. So schools with white as one of their primary colors can either adopt a black, or stick to just wearing white shirt and red pants or red shirt Or red shirt and white pants, or they can wear the same color on top and bottom.

In theory I agree with you. You and I are two old fart traditionalists. I even like those freaking balloons.
But our greatest tradition is winning. And I really miss being an upper tier, top ten team. So if Frost thinks a bunch of different alt jerseys will help us attract elite players then I am all in, tradition or no tradition.

I think black pants and white jerseys would not look like Nebraska. I am more for keeping traditional unies with throwing in alternates that look good every once in a while.

I used to be against different uniforms. But, I did like throwbacks, and still do.

However, I'm really warming up to the idea of it, the cherry is already broke fellers. Love her for who she is, not what she looks like.

I agree, none of these kids were alive when Nebraska was good. While Im sure their parents can tell them Nebraska was good, they can do a google search and see Nebraska was good. In their mind all they know of Nebraska is they are an average program located in the middle of the country. We are no different in their minds than a place like MN or Iowa. We have to do things to draw attention. I know everyone is doing alt uniforms now days. So it really doesn't stand out as much as when Oregon Started doing it. It is still a sign of the times in college football. You have to keep up with "Jones" so to say to stay modern and current in recruits eyes.
