There is no one in their right mind that would not have made that move. $4 mil more per year plus 2 extra years. Better resources and support…
Absolutely, especially with the $240 million accounting error at UofA and a salary freeze there. No quibbles whatsoever. Nobody wants to be a rat, especially the last rat, on a sinking ship. But a Fisch? Should a Fisch be worried about such a thing? 😜

Also the UofA , besides probably not being able to come close to the salary Washington offered, was limited by state law to giving Fisch just a 5year contract making Washington's offer more of a can't refuse even if he wanted to stay .

The reason Syracuse has the class they have is due to NIL donors. Hornsby and McCord are NIL kids. There are likely more. We are playing catchup in this area. Hopefully more fans step up.
Greg needs to step up and sell access to him and the program and deal with a handful of rich guys being involved in everything.

I think Fran Brown will be a better LT hire. Schiano's developmental program realistic ceiling seems like 8-4 or 7-5. In less than a week, Syracuse is now involved with several 4 stars [without a great NIL situation]. Everyone will argue that Brown has no HC experience and in watching his press conference I can see why recruits like him so much and you have to start somewhere! I give it 2-3 years and we will wish he was our HC. Stars MATTER! Great hire for Cuse
Or it will be their version of Fred Hill. Time will tell. Given the fact that our trajectory is up, I'll go with the proven commodity. We aren't desperate and in need of a big gamble at this moment.

Why was Fran never hired as a coordinator, he certainly had the bonifides as a recruiter, evidently not so much as a coordinator.
Fran' s recruits have not had a great track record for success at the collegiate level
Fren's secondaries we no great shakes especially at Rutgers
Fran may actually have a good record as the ACC sucks and with all the turmolil it will only suck more as times and rumors continue.
Sooner than later the 4&5's will gravitate more and more to the SEC and BIG, thats were the exposure and money is and wilk be
Having said that I think Fran was a good hire for the Fruit, they've been dead for years at least the talent will improve an maybe Kathy Hoechel will build a mega Rock salt storage facility near by

Not that it would have made a difference since he would have left anyway.

Resurfacing this because I can’t believe the product I watched on the field the last 2 weeks… developmental program with no depth. 4 straight years starting 3-0 only to lose as soon as calendar hits October. I will always have gratitude for Schiano 1.0 but in 2.0 he’ll never get us there. I’d much rather have Fran.

Fran took over a program that went bowling the year before.
I'd wait before deeming him a potential COY candidate every year he's Syracuse's HC
He's looking better than Schiano is right now, but to soon to tell if Brown will make the Orange constant winners.
Greg took over a garbage program and made it look like it might turn into a good one.
But .as of now, Schiano is looking like he won't be making Rutgers a constant winner and the program might not be in bowl qualifying team every year like we thought he'd make it

Still think Brown won’t get it done at Sara while Greg is shining down here in Piscataway?

Fran Brown would be very successful at Rutgers. I am not talking about Schiano mediocrity hailed as success by his fans, but real success, legit conference contenders and playoff participants year after year.

Hey remember when Greg didn't think Brown wasn't ready to coach his defense and hired the bum we have now?

Are you developmentally disabled? Seriously, did you ride the short bus to school. Care to elaborate on your reasoning so that I can totally annihilate you ?

Sure you can play this card all you want. Rutgers has never won more than 3 games in B1G in 10 years… it’s just embarrassing as an RU fan and Greg is never going to get us there

And the worst part is the Schiano press conferences… the excuses are hilarious at this point.

I don't particularly like the category of hiring recruiter like Shane Beamer (USCe) and Joey McGuire (TT) vs coach/developer but I wouldn't take he could "only" get Syracuse to hire him as a negative.

Lance Leipold could "only" get Kansas to give him a chance and he's done wonders there. Same for Kleiman at KSU. There are others. Cignetti this year at IU, we'll see how he does. ADs don't look off the beaten path much and it takes guys like Leipold or Klieman or DeBoer to do well to finally open their minds as to what could potentially work.

We'll see what he does now that he has the opportunity.
27-34 is doing wonders?

But how many punts or KOs have they returned?
Not sure what points you are trying to make.

You think it is perfectly fine to almost never return a kick or punt return over an entire season?

You think it is fine to put a backup QB in only to let him hand the ball off?

Reasonable people can differ on these things, but to many, Greg coaches and very boring brand of football.

When you own a Honda Accord, you are not going to drive on the tracks like a Porsche

Still not sure I understand your position. So, you are ok with both approaches?

The kick and punt returners are far from Honda Accords. Neither is AJ.

Less than $450,000 Greg paid for a Jett. 😂

A downside of our play style is not many Porsches will want to park in our Fieldhouse. 😬
Everyone has a price. The #1 player in NJ is getting a lot more than Jett to go to USC. You get what you pay for.

I'd buy a late 80s air cooled fat body and tail one like my mother's but easy pass on porsche. I'm a 69 corvette and 69 mach1 guy:)
