What a crap defensive series after a scoop and score. Pretty much negates all the momentum shift.
Unbelievable three timeouts been moving the ball down the field all day and we decide to let the clock run out
wow run plays and then take a knee ??? Northwestern gets the ball after halftime - 3 points or more before and then 3 points or more after and you take control of the game? What is the thinking here???
What was the risk even? They aren't getting any pressure on Thorson. The worst thing that happens is he throws a pick down the field with 30 seconds left. I just don't get it.
I don’t always agree with the flak Fitz gets for timeout usage (especially on D), but that last series was baffling. Clayton looked irritated too. He wanted to get the offense moving. Perhaps there were communication issues?
Interesting decision to not use the timeouts to try to get into field goal range. Have to assume lack of a healthy field goal kicker played into the thinking.

I just flipped over to the Vandy- Florida at Vandy and crowd is probably 50/50. Stanford games have the same scenarios. Notre Dame is one of the few exceptions to this private university attendance issues.
The second half start is a microcosm of this game so far. Potential touchdown pass drop by us then they March right down the field with continual missed tackles including by gaziano & Fisher.
Lots of guys on our defense not playing to potential. Ray Meyer once told a player that if he wanted to be good, he had to be good every day.

If they score here it's game over. Last two times they had the ball they marched over 80 yards right down the field and scored a touchdown. At this point our defense is really porous.
Well this season is almost over... So again, I fear we will here the status quo quotes of we have to coach better, players have to play better...
