Assault and Battery, is Assault and Battery! Fist, hand, foot, knee, head butt, it does not matter!

You used to be a great poster, but now you’re just the board contrarian, and make it a point to defend anything just to stir up chit. I thought it was only Cal related, but I was wrong.

All good though, you do you , and I’ll carry on being me👋🏻

IF Michigan is good he might keep his job. But they are bad so he'll get fired. They might wait to the end of the season or something, but going to be tough to keep him around. Last year or earlier this year he incited a scuffle too.

It was like he was trying to grab the side of the dudes head then made a fist. Maybe he wanted to rip his ear off. Lol

I reaIly don't see why it matters if it were a punch or slap. Somebody would be much better off punching me than slapping me because what came back after a slap would be an elbow to the nose.

Maaaaan that was weak as hell. After reading the first page of comments, I thought I was about to see a ufc style jab at the very least. That was an open handed grab at the face almost.

Big 10 Iowa guy here. This is not the first incident along these line for Howard in the past two years. Here's from last year in the Big 10 tournament when he tried going after Turgeon of Maryland:

Mike White down at Florida is loving all of this. Michigan and Memphis are last 4 in, Florida is first 4 out and Florida just beat the #2 team in the country.

Memphis is losing at SMU.

When I first posted the thread, it looked like a legit punch.

If you watch a little longer, you can see a couple of Michigan players throwing hands.

Supension? His lack of control obviously helped escalate the situation and caused his players to start throwing punches...he should be fired.
Yeah I think the fact that he set off a fight where several players got involved and some threw punches makes it so you HAVE TO fire him. He has to be responsible for them, how do you trust him to now discipline and lead those players when they were following his lead on the violence?

Coaches are held to a higher standard than players, as it should be. Never under any circumstances is it acceptable for a coach to throw a punch or slap anyone—player, coach, ref, etc. He should be fired and it’s not really arguable IMO.

I just think he won’t. Which is a shame. If he’s not fired and it happens again, I hope someone goes after the school.

he balled the fist, then backed off....
But, multiple incidences of players and coaches losing control at UM... he needs to be fired
It almost seems like JH was kinda trying to grab him cause he open handed starts at the top of the head and kinda slides his hand down-look very indecisive as to what he wanted to accomplish much like CWs timeout in the 90's lol

He was blowing by the Wis coach and he was stopped for what seemed like an apology.

Howard just became incensed.

for him to claim that the situation escalated because he touched him was BS. That will be his defense, but a weak one. He should have grown up and understood the situation. He didn’t, he reacted poorly, and that situation should be on him.

If Wisconsin's coach just keeps on walking there is no donnybrook(ok it was no donnybrook, but I just like the word)
not so sure about that...Howard was soooo pissed, and other clips, that have been posted; this is not his first bobby knight rodeo

The Grabbing and twisting of Gards shirt collar was worse than the punch IMO

So Howard claims "self defense"?

Laughable.

If he had initially struck back after Gard first grabbed him, then I would buy it.

Waiting as long as he did to throw a punch / slap? No way that was self defense.

I was thinking suspension for Howard, but after that weak, totally disingenuous response, I think he deserves to be fired. He should have owned it and begged forgiveness.

Idiot.

Here is the “punch”

It appears in the video the OP posted that the assistant coach Howard went after had a quick altercation with the Michigan player in the headband, verbally and possibly putting his forearm on his chest. I’m not condoning anything, but looks like Howard lost it right after that happened.

Especially since the slap was on an assistant coach, not Gard.
