Catdaddy, I've been watching, attending, and rooting for UK for over 70 years. Losses don't bother me. I don't like them, but I know it's part of the game, and to me, IT'S ONLY A GAME! What does bother me, is when I see a coach make a mistake, that he should know better. If you don't think Cal should have called TO with 9.5 seconds left, and down one, then you don't know basketball. This is especially true since we are basically a Freshmen team. Cal should have called a TO, and explained what to run, and said, "Let's win this game, you can." Instead, the youth showed, and we looked like a "Chinese Fire Drill."

That’s right. Fairweather fans just stop watching when the team isn’t great. They only pay attention when we’re #1 and the talk of the country. They certainly don’t care enough to be on here voicing displeasure and concerns when things aren’t going well.
I think some people don’t understand what a fairweather fan is.
I 100 percent agree a time out should be called. I never mentioned anything about the people complaining about coach Cal not calling a timeout. I hate seeing the "we need a new coach", "Cal is done comments". I was pissed when we lost because of the way it ended. I thought a timeout should have been called with the way the players looked lost. I was hoping hagans would take it to the basket and possibly draw a foul. I wish a timeout was called, I dont want to get rid of coach cal and I didn't write his daughters on social media.
My thing is it seems like most people here can’t tell the difference between “man, I’m a little concerned” guy, and “FIRE CAL!” guy. You voice some concerns and all of a sudden you’re somehow lumped right into the fire Cal group. Frankly you’d have to have your head buried pretty deeply in the sand to not be concerned.
I agree with most of this! Only thing I disagree with is I love the OAD, just not recently with us striking out on elite guys we usually get. Great post!
Well said, it just always seems the fire cal voices are louder! I'm not happy with the loss, it ruined my weekend. This has not been the start I thought this team would have after the Bahamas but I beleive they will improve. Hagans has gotten soooooo much better in just one month. I look forward to progress the team makes in the next month.
We can't criticize one of the worst overpaid coaches in college sports history? I think our players are playing tough. I give them all the credit in the world... Its not them that is the problem... It's the coach we have that makes as much as Saban that can't create results unless he gets the Top 5 recruits....

Honestly I think the worst performance from this weekend were the fans. From the Father/Son behind me pissing off a lot of Seton Hall fans (kinda funny though, I will admit).. to another Kentucky fan saying "Good game" to Seton Hall when he thought the game was over (before Hagans missed that FT).. to a traveling-but-sleepy fan turnout..to this forums epic meltdown like the season is over..
That was a home game for Seton Hall, in case anyone wasn't aware. Kentucky had a ton more fans, but the entire row in front of me may as well been asleep. Seton Hall student section next to me was LIT. They had all the energy and noise.

Did you pay him the 8 million? No, you didn’t! If anyone should be mad it’s the school! I was always told and even learned from experience! You don’t air your dirty laundry for the world to see! How do you think all that looks to future recruits and their families? How do you think bashing the coach on social media looks to future coaches? Why would any high caliber coaches want to come coach here? The players and the coaches aren’t allowed to make mistakes and work threw them without being trashed! 18 and 19 year old kids are just learning how to play the game in college. But, here at UK they’re not allowed to grow , they’re expected to play perfect every game and win every game where you take every teams best shot. Where sometimes you play 5 on 8 depending on the opponent! I’m a fan just like all of you and spend my hard earned money supporting my team as a spectator! These players don’t owe me crap and neither does Cal! If everyone is so displeased with how things are going and think Cal isn’t doing his job you write the administration about your concerns you don’t air it for the whole world to see, cause just sometimes it might come back to haunt you!

That doesn't even make sense. Which further proves my theory on the state of this fan base lately.. or at least some of this fan base. I shouldn't say ALL of us.. many of the good fans probably did what I've done the last 36 hours and limit myself from forum.
Having a bad team would be so much easier to accept if some posters on this site would JUST ACCEPT THAT WE HAVE A BAD TEAM.

It’s been like that for awhile! What happened to when you team gets down and getting loud to encourage them! I’ve been to games where we were down and the crowd actually was a factor and boom we turn it around and win! With all the trash being spewed at the players and coaches online is actually a disgrace! Whatever happened to UK fans being the best fanbase in the world? Cal I think has ruined us! When did we get so self righteous and spoiled! We trash our own on every possible social media outlet including on here! We have so many lurkers on here you’d think we’d keep the trash talking to other fan bases and teams not our own!
It’s one thing to admit we have a bad team! But, constantly trashing the team and the Coach is another! I’m going to support my team and Coach win or lose! Yea, I hated the Duke loss and was down for days! But, once it was time to watch them play again I was there watching and supporting like I have for 48 years! After all, I’m a fan and a spectator of an amateur collegiate sport! And yeah I get pissed too! But, I do it at home where the world can’t see! Go Cats!

Fans that think everything is fine (all rainbows and sunshine), just wait until March, and name 3 better options to be our coach are just as bad as the Cal sucks/faaarrrrr Cal people. Voicing concerns over the state of Kentucky basketball and wondering if Cal can return us to the successful early years here or is he on his last legs because of his stubbornness to change is not being a negative fan.
The only problem with that is we don't have a bad team. The numbers suggest we're pretty good, and we'll probably get better given our extreme youth. Dude, we just don't accept your opinions unless they're based on facts. Sorry to burst your bubble.
We're 39-15 in SEC regular season games over the three years...57-15 going back the last 4. You can look it up...google is your friend bro.
Do the numbers actually suggest we’re ‘pretty good’ or is this just another blind assertion by another cheerleader? I mean seriously, what numbers are you looking at? Baseless optimism won’t make us shoot the ball better, or play defense, or rebound. Yeah, we’re young. That’s the problem... every single season. And yeah we’ll improve, but so will everyone else. An improvement from a bad team is a mediocre team. Meanwhile, these other teams who don’t have to use the ‘extreme youth’ excuse are improving on the team they had last season.
it is disappointing to see some of these kids leaving way too soon. It makes you wonder who is talking to them?! Some of those who left early could have been 1st round picks if they had stayed another year or two. Leaving early cost them millions and guaranteed contracts.Stupid.
Booker, for instance, would have been a 1st team AA and a lottery pick if he had stayed one or 2 more years. Murray and Meeks would have been too
I agree with the first part but I don’t think booker and Murray are the best examples of players we lost too soon. They’ve both been killin it ever since they got drafted. I’m more annoyed at players like Vanderbilt, Briscoe, Skal, Wenyen, just to name a few. Those guys would’ve been 4 year players if they played at any other school. But, as is usually the case, they felt entitled to an NBA contract.
You nailed it but it’s incredible that people continue to think Cal should not be admonished. I NEVER attack the kids on the team but Cal.....Get it together or I will continue to lob grenades.
