Yesterday was a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I generally stay off this board when the cats lose, but after reading some of the thread titles and comments I feel like I should break my own silence following a loss.

"Cal Can't Coach" , "Bruce Pearl", "Team Turmoil", "Players Suck" .... really? After a overtime loss that had me running through my basement with joy. This is the junk I see from our fans. How about we lost, the sky is not falling, we dont need a new coach, and more positive thoughts that we will get better.

Basketball is a funny sport with many ups and downs. Look back about 9 months ago ... 4 game losing streak and then boom win the sec tournament. Stay with these guys, support them, and put the negative in the trash.

Generally when a team takes a loss like the cats took Saturday, they equal it out with a big win in the near future. Will it be Unc, Louisville, Kansas? I dont know but I cant wait to find out.

I don't usually celebrate losses. But I am not a real fan like you.

I agree. We have a lot if fair weather fans. They’re all in when we’re winning, but they’re the first people to ***** and make excuses when we lose. They are the people, if they hit the lottery, that would ***** about how much tax they’d have to pay.

Sorry this is Kentucky basketball not Seton Hall or some run of the mill program. We are supposed to be the elite program. There is a long history and tradition. To me, the fake fan is the complacent one saying its OK.

Does that mean I want Cal gone? No. But as fans we can apply social media pressure for some modification of philosophy. Let's get players who have shooting skills along with only the very top one and done or skip the tweeners who will be great in the NBA but not here.

We have played no name teams with no name players who shoot the lights out compared to our superstars. Get one or two of these kids to go with the athletes.

When Keldon hit the shot at the end of regulation were you not happy and jumping for joy.... That is what I thought. Negative fake fans!!!

Point proven I come on here and post positive thoughts, and the **** fan points out the negative.

Well damn...I'm changing my opinion on the BEAT DOWN Duke put on the CATS back in November. That was a Good Loss! I didn't look at it as a learning experience for this bunch of CATS. Now I do. I'm sure the guys will learn even more out of yesterdays loss. Think about it, Duke has all the Hype but Seton Hall was a team that has gotten plastered by lesser teams yet they beat UK in NY. What a fantastic learning experience for these young CATS. I can't wait to see the improvements. :cool2:

Funny post... so when the fans last season were saying this team is def not a deep run team you say it was proved wrong by the SEC title?

So what happened in the NCAA? Looks like those who were concerned were proven correct in the end.

I bet 80% of the fans that are upset on this board are mad because of how Coach Cal's lack of coaching, in game adjustments, getting these kids mentally prepared for games and frustrated that we keep on missing out on the elite players. Also, I think people are getting sick of the OAD and kids leaving early when they have no business leaving early.

I bet of those 80% of people, most want Cal as the coach. We just want a change in PHILOSOPHY and for him to not let his pride ruin his potential future legacy.

Good points. I take issue with "the fans" that think we're horrible, garbage, etc. but offer nothing in the way of concrete steps Cal should take to get better. I do think Cal tends to favor "athletes" over shooters and guys with terrific basketball skills. Taking Dontae Allen was a good step...I'd like to have seen us making a serious run at Ky Ky Tandy as well....I think he could play for us and compete for a starting position. The only thing I might disagree with a little is we do get the best shot from teams like Seton Hall. I doubt that Powell was as fired up to play St. Louis in front of an empty gym as he was to get a shot at UK on national TV in MSG. A lot of these guys don't play that great the rest of the season.

Pretty much how I feel. I also think his ego will keep him here until he gets things fixed or is run off.

Click the X in the corner if you don’t like criticism. I will say, I don’t bash players but Cal is open game. I have 8 million reasons why I feel that way.

I paid thousands of dollars to sit on the 2nd row at Banker's life field house. I sat through every soul crushing second of a 30 something point @$$ whooping.

I've spent 10 years telling myself that "If only Cal could get an experience team. We'd be great all year, and we'd definitely win it all."

I'm sorry if I'm not all rainbows and sunshine after we lose to Seton Hall by 1--when we had nearly 10 seconds--when we had timeouts.

You can be a real fan and not be happy with bad results. You can be a real fan and understand reality.

Cal knows this, openly brags about us being everyone's Super Bowl, and does nothing to counter it. Just keeps putting a physically and mentally immature, flat team out there. No enthusiasm, no swagger, no brotherhood.

Some will say it's a ultimately a waste of time to use a sports message board for catharsis. Still, many of those same voices will concede that healthy, regulated catharsis is precisely one of the more obvious roles of a sports message board. I'd say that information gathering is also of vital importance, obviously.

What then, should we say about fans like you who use the forum as a way to chastise those who merely seek to utilize the forum within one of its most fundamental offerings: that of a community of cathartic expression?

I get that there's fully committed positive perspectives out there and they're certainly welcome here in order to provide balance, but this place was created, in part, to give fans a foundation for healthy critical expression. You're attempting to invert the whole purpose of a sports forum community by wanting to regulate streams of thought that do not align with your own. Like you said, "life is too short." So why spend it trying to convince people to share your value, when the community you're trying to convince is merely using the forum for its obvious purpose of catharsis and critical expression? You, and those like you, seem to be wasting the most time trying to invert the foundations of a system that is antithetical to your goals.

Effectively, we get to work it all out here so it doesn't show up in the form of juvenile boos at Rupp.

Would you prefer the inverse?

The way you speak is really impressive and coming at me with your bull **** is a waste of time. I dont really care what you think my man. I was trying to make a point to stop being so negative to the players which most are kids, and our coach who has crushed it in his years at Kentucky. Fans writing coach Calipari's daughters, calling for a new coach, and saying the players suck is a weird way to show support! You do you man!

Kind of disagree, as fair weather fans do indeed celebrate winning, but lose interest when losing occurs.

I would imagine any diehard fan who bleeds blue would not be happy about a loss to an inferior opponent and may voice displeasure, cause they give a ****.
