He's obviously listening to his dad or someone his dad trusts. He neve even came close to averaging double digits in points. How in the world they think he's ready to play against grown men is beyond me. Parents sound like they regret him ever coming to UK.It’s a nice thought. There’s no guarantee though. And if EJ thinks his game is good enough for the NBA now, I worry he doesn’t see his weaknesses—everything. Which makes him less likely to improve
What a joke.
Knew it was coming. But not many have done so little and gone pro.
He’s a big man that can’t rebound. He’s a stretch forward but can’t shoot.
Did people not already know EJ was gone? Did you really expect him back? He’s know. He was going for a month now. Not sure why people are overreacting to something that was a foregone conclusion long ago.
Don’t have to be elite the cut the nets down2 seniors. A transfer from Creighton and a transfer from Purdue. Neither elite.
The strangest ever

I fully believe KB is/will be better than EJ.
LOL basically every year . We lose about 5 players every year on average but have lost 6-7 a handful of times too. Just last year we lost Green ( mid season but still) , Herro , travis , PJ , KJ . Year before we lost Diallo SGA knox Vanderbilt Gabriel SKJ . Year before Humphries , Bam , Monk , Fox , Hawkins , Willis , Briscoe . So yes .Have we ever had this major of a roster turnover?
We lost:
Maxey, Hagans, Quick, Nick, EJ, Sestina, and Johnny
At least Orton was a first round pick . We have guys leaving now who are 30 picks behind where Orton was picked or not getting drafted at all .Daniel Horton leaving was head-scratcher, too. As was Dakari Johnson. Not sure either one has been heard from since. I also thought Skal left at least a year too early (EJ actually reminds me of Skal - physical potential but almost nothing to show for it on the court production-wise).
I wonder if EJ even thinks he’s ready? His dad sounded like it’s all his idea and his mind couldn’t be changed. Not surprised but don’t think he’s ready. Hope I’m wrong.
I think it could beLOL if you think next year’s team will be better than 16-17 you may be in for a surprise.
Don’t have to be elite the cut the nets down
I disagree a little. I think Brooks will do more than EJ ever did on both ends. I think the 4 is his best position, hopefully he adds 15-20lbs.No, it's not.
Not unless his absence lands you someone like Kuminga.
All the positive spin is almost as bad as the premature departures. There's no reason to believe any of those guys is anymore ready for a "breakout year" than EJ was when he returned last year.
UK needs to replace EJ with a stud like Kuminga. It's the only way anyone can actually lay claim to this being a net positive at this point.
Don’t have to be elite the cut the nets down
I’m thinking more along the lines of 17-18.I think it could be
I think Cal created a beast he can’t control with the “I’m the guy to get you to the NBA” angle. When he first came to Kentucky I felt like he was such a hellacious recruiter because he sold playing for him and playing his style. It wasn’t all about the NBA. And when you have a personal angle like that it’s much harder to recruit against. But if it’s all about the NBA other coaches can now walk in and go “dude you’re good enough you’ll get to the NBA. You don’t have to play for Cal to do that.” So it’s no longer about Cal, it’s about the NBA.
Then once dudes get here, all they care about is the NBA, ready or not here they come.
Just my wildly unpopular take, I’m sure.
I think you are wrong, especially with two top 7 playersI’m thinking more along the lines of 17-18.

I just don't see Kuminga even being an option this year. Also, I'm not sure he fits with the kind of team Cal is likely planning to have this coming year. I think next year is best case for him.
I guess Virginia and Villanova was differentIt never bodes well if your title hopes are pinned on catching lightning in a bottle for six straight elimination games.
Even some of our better teams couldn't do it (2010, 2015, 2017, 2019).
You need luck, but you also need a pretty decent array of dependable pieces.
Maybe, but the sample size doesn't support your claim just yet; and that's the main issue here. We're rolling into next season with more "maybes" than we are sure things.
Kuminga is a sure thing. That's why Cal is pushing for him to reclass. That's really the telltale about how much Cal truly "likes his team" at this point.
We don't have enough yet for a title push, and Cal knows it.
Hope i am tooI thought you are wrong, especially with two top 7 players
It's more like Score A Few Points And Succeed. What happened to succeed and proceed?
EJ and Whitney gave us nothing. I appreciate using UK to get to the pro’s when you give UK something in return. This was a joke.
So what exactly has EJ shown in 2 years that KB didn’t show in his limited minutes as a freshman?
Y’all are thinking too hard about this. Junior or 20th year Sr, EJ isn’t better than KB.
And KB isn’t coming back to come off the bench.
I'm not mad. If you don't wanna be here then go.
Agree. I was as disapointed as others that EJ never seemed to flourish but I still appreciate him as someone who made the decision to come and be part of the family in the first place.I dont agree but it is not my decision. Support the kid, he is chasing his dream, be respectful of that.
Be thankful he chose to play at Kentucky in the first place. Dont be an ***!
Kentucky will be fine!
Save this message....
Kentucky will add 2 more bigs!! Brown, Banchero, Kuminga, Haarms, another transfer name not mentioned yet.
Then Brooks would be gone now too.We would have been better for the short and long term if EJ had left last year. At worst brooks was equal to EJ and would have had much more room to grow
I think this might be true but Brown , Banchero , Kuminga are not in the picture for next season. We will add Haarms and then maybe a role player who won't play much. As Brooks and Ware or Fletcher will get the PF minutes and Haarms and Jackson will get the center minutes. It is very hard to find time for more then 4 bigs.
I guess Virginia and Villanova was different
Well, if he "likes" it so much, what exactly is holding him back? Plenty of room.Kuminga likes the idea of playing with Clarke. It's one of the major reasons he's still strongly considering Kentucky.
If he came here, he'd give us 15 to 18 points/game and go #1 or #2 in the draft. You find a way to make a guy like that "fit" into your overall schemes.
