This is a driver, and an incorrect one, of opinionsregarding Duval's contributions to our struggles/losses in games this year. He often performed too, or above, expectations even in losses. But he'd have one horrendous mistake, usually late in a game, that cost us the W. In the UVA game, his attacking and D got us back in the game, but that late turnover on that asinine pass attempt to Carter turned into a 3 for UVA that made it a 2 possession game. AKA game over.
.
He had a horrible turnover late in the KU game where he tried to split a double team.
.
But similar plays to that obscured how well he usually played in the game up until then. Those late game blunders allowed people to shift blame to TD for the team's failures. Sure, those late game TOs and mistakes hurt. But we would have been way up if the bigs had rebounded better (in some losses), or if the guards had been able to throw it in the ocean. When TD made a stupid mistake late, it gave Allen's apologists convenient cover to ignore his 20% shooting for the game because of the recentness of TD's mistake. All too often this fanbase would seize on TD's one or 2 mistakes, while ignoring all the good he'd done, as an excuse to ignore the game long bed pooping done by Allen.
.
What is going to be hilarious is when TD turns into a stud and everyone pretends that they'd always loved him, just like they've done with Tatum.
