It’s supposedly a done deal on Duren reclassifying. Some major recruiting people are saying if he goes to college the pick will be Kentucky. With the whole NIL thing, it’s looking like college is a real legitimate option, more and more every day.
That would be cool.

I laid in bed and listened (No TV) to Ali vs Sonny Liston 1 from Lewiston, Maine.I hear he was pretty good.
Ali was a Kentuckian and Olympic Champ. So he was already my favorite.

Yeah everyone wants more guard play, but Duren is a guy that would dominate college ball.

Do you remember in the 1950's the "Gillette Cavalcade of Sports"? On Friday each week, they carried Boxing from Madison Square Garden.
Seemed like Carmen Basillio would fight every week!
There never was sports on TV (only 3 stations) except Sat/Sun afternoons. So the Fights was a big ratings bonus.
Radio or TV if you were in the house when it came on my dad was glued to it. He never missed a fight or a Red Skelton episode.
The only possible reclass rumor to my memory that didn’t end up happening was Tyrese Maxey. Reclassification rumors are almost always a “where there’s smoke there’s fire” type of deal.
I mean if you're just there for a year and you get to be _the man_ and enjoy Miami beach culture I can think of worse places to go. Just depends on the kids mindset.

Been at camp for 1.5 hours. Cal was supposed to do pictures at 3:30 and nowhere to be found. Maybe he had to hop on the Corman Express and go visit Duren.
Having been on the campus it sure is nice to have warm weather so much.

He’s not making any NIL money in Miami. Every sponsor looking for a spokesperson will be hitting up guys who play for the Dolphins, Heat, or Marlins. Hurricanes football players will make more than Duren down on South Beach. Hard to be a celebrity among celebrities. Who is going to buy Duren’s autograph in South Florida? No one cares about basketball down there.
Meanwhile at UK, his jerseys will fly off the racks and every car dealership in the Lexington area will pay top dollar for him to appear in their commercials. He’ll have his own Maker’s Mark special edition bottle before he sets foot in a class at UK. He’ll be signing balls all summer long.
That’s why I said it depends on his mindset. I agree the NIL money might not be as good, but we don’t know for sure since this is brand new. But if he just wants a fun year in the sun then it’s not a crazy idea.
It’s ALL about football. Mainly the Dolphins and Canes. Now, they do really love their Heat, to be fair. Take it from someone that’s spent a lot of time in South Florida. Yes, you are absolutely correct.
