Not the bunch. Just the pitcher. The hitters are in their at em ball phase right now. They will find holes eventually. But they don’t need to be down 8-1 when it happens.
Considering all the things this team has accomplished this season, it’s nuts when you realize how razor thin our margin of error is between winning games and getting badly beaten.
I’m confident that this team will figure it out when it truly matters, but it’s clear that Macleod and Bednar have to be dang near lights out or we’re toast. I have zero confidence in a game 3 of any sort due to our severe shortage of starting caliber pitching and generally mediocre ability to score runs

It really is. It's possible the players are just special and will find a way, but if I were going to put money on it, I'd bet that we have overachieved so far and are going to regress to the mean.
With our luck, we will be down 9 runs after 7 and have to use about 60 more pitches from the bullpen to get 6 more outs.
It's bad enough that we can't find a 3rd starter but their guy is sitting at 44

the goal here is to keep the differential less than 9 runs and play all 9, a gentleman's scrimmage if you will
True, but of course the same applies to just about every other team in the country, including Vandy and Arkansas.

Not disagreeing with your general premise but Barco has been their best starter for a while now. Mace has been inconsistent whereas Barco has been pretty steady.
I also have to imagine it’s natural that our pitching affected our hitting. Early on when the game was close we were barreling him up and having productive AB’s. They broke it open and our mentality switched to let’s get this over with.
If you're going to have a complete shat the bed performance this is absolutely the precise game you should do it in. Our odds were never good considering the starters (their best vs our ...not best).

I really feel bad for MSU fans that went to the trouble to make the trip. That was painful.
