You did say he was for open borders, and now you give him a homework assignment over some article before you'll buy into his claim about his own political stance? You go down this path with so many people, yet you don't return the favor. When pushed, you dodge or assign homework for someone else. People are going to have differing OPINIONS on politics and political issues. You need to get past this "one solution based entirely on the facts I choose to accept" philosophy.

I agree. I'm ready to defend my position on immigration, how I think the problem should be solved, and how I'd like to see it handled. So I'm entitled to my opinion on what others pretend to say about how they want the same problem addressed absent their expressed desires.

What I can't get is anyone on the Left to honestly explain their position on this. I gave him every opportunity to do that by indicating what in that article I linked to he disagreed with and all he did was come back and accuse me of lying. What did I lie about when I didn't even hear his position on it?

I think protesters who shout "no borders no walls no USA at all" are all on the Left. Is that wrong ? Can you point me to someone on the Left who has condemned that rhetoric?

How about you?

He told me "I'm not for open borders". OK. So what else did he say he was for?

What is "catch-and-release" and where is that codified under our current immigration law? What is the statutory authority on DACA? Where is the Constitutional provision for a "sanctuary city"? If anyone on the Left favors any of these things, how can they NOT be for open borders?

Now you have YOUR chance to explain it to me.

As a Sovereign nation trying to protect our national identity and culture and history and institutions and traditions, we have a right and a necessity to control who comes into this country, under what conditions, in what numbers, under what circumstances, and for whatever purposes we choose. Do you agree or disagree with that?

If you agree, then honestly we have no argument except over how we implement that policy. If you disagree... please explain why and what the alternative is?
