I hate to be the one to say I told ya so. But I told ya so. Not to gloat at the expense of a program I have supported and lived vicariously through since I was old enough to understand what it meant to be a Kentucky basketball fan, but I would be lying if I said I didn't feel at least a little vindicated after tuning in to another disappointing start to the season. So what-say-you those who have publicly shamed anyone with negative remarks about Calipari over the last 5 years? Are you still finding comfort in most regular season wins in the last 10 years or most points in the conference tournament or whatever it is you’ve been hanging your hat on for so long? It sure isn’t fielding a respectable team. I don’t know about the rest of you but I don’t find much solace in the fact we’ve made it to three final fours in Cal’s tenure only to get our hearts ripped out. That is not a source of pride for me. No other fan base in the country cares to hear about how many times we *almost* won a championship. My final question is this: if Calipari exits in, say, two years, and he spent the last decade doing everything except winning championships, will you still look back and say we were still wrong for doubting him?

There are only a few pumpers left, everyone else is bailing.

You know, even if Cal turns this team around and wins a title, I'm still not going to support Cal if he sticks with this model.

Yeah a title would be awesome, but it would also give Cal a false sense of security and make him think this is the way to go. It is not the way to go and he needs to change it immediately.

I thought Cal was smarter than this. I thought he could manage better than this. He can't win without the elite of the elite talent or tough as nails juniors and seniors. But he keeps doing the things he struggles with.

Way too much knee jerk stuff in sports. Calipari has had success, a championship along with multiple final fours in a 10 year span. All at a very high winning percentage. Not to mention he’s been a major promoter and ambassador for the program. You don’t push someone out with all that behind them. It’s too costly and frankly bad business. Calipari is likely at a crossroads. He has to make some philosophical decisions on continuing success or not. He deserves the opportunity to do it.

True...I think most of us are just looking for any kind of sign he gets that he has to have a better strategy and willing to make changes. Not seeing it yet.

I can’t see it happening . We have been losing games we have no business losing for years , due to lack of a dependable offense. you either get enough insanely talented guys to overcome the lack of a system or you suffer . We be suffering .
Don’t let the defense off the hook. Our players have been continually beaten off the dribble for years now.

I’ll continue to watch every game and root for players and coaches to do well. In years like this one, when things aren’t going well, I’ll continue to watch them. Because I don’t think it’s UK’s birthright to win every game, nor to be FF contenders every year. It’s sports. Every team and every coach in the history of sports have had good years and bad.

I believe that Cal is a very good coach and the team will turn it around. And they’ll most certainly be better next year when they have some players that have actually played together before. Not sure what anyone expected knowing this roster’s lack of experience.

I'll be the first to admit the Georgia Tech loss was a terrible loss. Also, this team looks lost on the court trying to run some type of offense. That being, Call me whatever you want but I still believe in and support Cal.

I remember the last Tubby years and the BCG time. This is much, better than those.

I do think it is funny that the same people that have turned on Cal and the 5 Start recruit (one and done) system, are the same people that wanted rid of Tubby because he recruited 4-year players and didn't have enough talent.

My one hope/request is that I would like to see Cal turn the offense over to a good coordinator/assistant.

Hey man, that's cool. Nobody should hate you for continuing to support Cal, but we shouldn't be called idiots because we are not happy with Cal, but that's what's happening.
Stuntman just literally started a thread where he calls us idiots right in the title. Nice.

You can criticize and question most everything and still support the coach and program. But I wouldn't expect anyone around here to do that. It's all hell, fire and brimstone hair on fire idiocy. Cal has more than enough credit earned to get a pass on a whole losing season god forbid that happens. We'll be right there playing great by tourney time, and ya'll will be right back on the bandwagon ready to jump off the next time we lose a game or two. Because that's what you do.

I totally agree with Kyjeff. I dont need to win a title every year or even be in the FF. But I do want wins in Nov, Dec, Jan Feb and March. I want a team that looks like they know what a basketball is and know the fundamentals of the game. I want a team that can run both offence and defense from the first day to the last game, I want a team that can play zone if needed and can hit the 3 ball enough to move an opposing team out of a zone. If you asked me if these are 5 star recruits for Basketball or Badminton, at this point id have to guess badminton. I sick of this every single year. its crazy to think that a team with 10 Freshman can compete in D1 basketball at the elite level. Cals gotta change drastically or be gone.

That’s bc both situations have sucked & are extremes at both ends of the spectrum with no happy medium. It doesn’t have to be one extreme or the other. It was well past time for Tubby to go bc it’s a fact that he wasn’t devoted to recruiting & the talent was unacceptable his last few seasons. I’m not saying Cal needs to go but he definitely needs to reset his philosophy & not continue to go completely all in on freshman dominated teams.

Personally, I don’t get much joy out of UK basketball anymore & haven’t for the last 3-4 years at least. And, most fans I know feel the same. I don’t like having an entirely new roster every season & watching **** basketball for 3-4 months hoping they learn enough basic fundamentals to do something in March, which usually ends with losing to an inferior team bc we revert to our November form.

Ever since I first became a fan I have planned my life around UK basketball & missing one second of a game wasn’t an option. I even chose UK basketball over a fiancé once when given the ultimatum. But, the last few seasons I find myself changing the channel & losing more interest by the game. I’m almost apathetic. Something that I never would’ve believed possible 5 years ago. It’s just not much fun for me anymore & I HATE that.

Its not just losing a game or two, Surely you can see that? Its way more than a game or two.. Cal doesn't care about UK. Cal cares about Cals look and he thinks he looks good getting all these guys to the pros. Damn shame is that if I or you were coaching his talent WE would be getting these guys to the NBA. It wayyyy more than a few games, its and entire philosophy that we object to. If he win a title this year and doesn't change i want him gone too.

The idea that you'd still want Cal fired even if he won a title is one of the most deranged, insane things I've ever heard and is pretty much the crap that gives this fanbase it's reputation as being insane
Tubby won a title his first year.. it was all down hill after that. He had RP. last group, when they were gone so was the hustle and hard nosed play. straight down hill. Then we all wanted him gone... Same here. Cal needs to Change or begone. Im at work today and even the UL fans aren't ragging me. Even they are in shock. They are actually to shocked at what they saw to kick me while I'm down.

This is how some see the state of the program right now:

Several of us have been on this train for years. But there is room on it for others who are finally seeing what the rest of us saw starting in 2016 or earlier.

Lol I was just gonna say, what a rediculous statement.

Coming off a 38 win season that came up just a bit short, After 2 final 4's just 3 years prior... we had fans who were like "Na, Cal's not the guy"?

******** lolol.
There was a guy here who told me Kentucky would have won it in 2015 if he were the coach.

Sounds like this forum lately.

People are making **** up at this point. We have some fans doing the "lets get along bit" after blasting people that don't agree with him.. we have fans that would rather Cal not win a title... Fans that think we should automatically win 2 titles every decade.

It's getting nutty.
