I’m incredibly disappointed in the poor start to this season, but some of y’all take this **** too seriously. As in if the basketball team isn’t the bestest ever you take it personally and lash out like a teenager who just got their phone taken away.

Cal won’t be fired even if we go 2-28. Maybe he’ll get tired of the pressure and move on like OTS did. But if you think any AD would shitcan a HOF coach with an 80 percent winning percentage and a title under his belt, you’re as delusional as the people who expect to win a title every year regardless of roster makeup.

Cal flat out can’t coach. He’s always had elite players and that alone can cover his lack of basketball coaching. His dribble drive garbage is a flop. He doesn’t teach passing is easier than trying to dribble yourself into scoring position. He doesn’t teach that a pick can actually work to get someone open. Here’s his number one play.... “ok take the ball and pound the floor then lower your head and run around your guy and score.”

How'd he win in 2013? James young, Harrison twins, Poythress, Dakari, etc.. None of them are "elite", the only player that was, was Randle. But looking back, that team was void of top end talent.

I know this might be crazy, but is it possible there was some coaching in there?

I hate to be the one to say I told ya so. But I told ya so. Not to gloat at the expense of a program I have supported and lived vicariously through since I was old enough to understand what it meant to be a Kentucky basketball fan, but I would be lying if I said I didn't feel at least a little vindicated after tuning in to another disappointing start to the season. So what-say-you those who have publicly shamed anyone with negative remarks about Calipari over the last 5 years? Are you still finding comfort in most regular season wins in the last 10 years or most points in the conference tournament or whatever it is you’ve been hanging your hat on for so long? It sure isn’t fielding a respectable team. I don’t know about the rest of you but I don’t find much solace in the fact we’ve made it to three final fours in Cal’s tenure only to get our hearts ripped out. That is not a source of pride for me. No other fan base in the country cares to hear about how many times we *almost* won a championship. My final question is this: if Calipari exits in, say, two years, and he spent the last decade doing everything except winning championships, will you still look back and say we were still wrong for doubting him?

Absolutely not, and I am more than justified by Zaytoven liking your post.

There is, but you will never get the haters to admit it. Same way as him taking kids right out of high school, elite talent or not, and turning them into a cohesive unit by tournament time, against experienced teams. What all the haters want to do is point at the kids in the NBA and say, "See how good this kid was, and Cal held him back." What they fail to realize, or admit, is that these kids were taught how to be professionals by the coaching staff, and this, along with them naturally maturing, is what makes them really good at the next level.

K has a couple of down years, but it doesn't mean he can't coach. But, you might as well save your breath, because these folks have an agenda and they won't be satisfied until Cal is gone. What will really be funny is that when the next coach comes, they will complain about his recruiting. He can coach, but he can't recruit. Strange how they thought the same thing about Tubby, and they weren't satisfied until he was replaced by BCG. I don't think it will be that bad when Cal leaves, but whoever gets the position, he will not be good enough for the haters, because they always have to be hating something. That is why they are in heaven right now. They have something to further their agenda of "Get rid of Cal." Thank goodness that these guys, on a website, are a very small percentage of people that are haters.

I'm not bailing, that is a weak take. Sound like a bunch of spoiled b**ches. Waaaaa, so soon we forget the years of 1999 to 2009. You fans are the worst, we got off to a rough start ... "let's bail". Byyyyeeee! Fan base dont need ya. I support Cal and glad he is our coach. Even if we get off to a 1 and 3.

Wow, what a collection of quitters. Congratulations to the ClOD.

While you guys are gloating and playing with yourselves, I got a team to support.
Well, Hot damn, Bass. I am sure you can pull them across the finish line. Are you in contact with Cal every day giving advice on offensive sets, things you learned on Play Station? Or things you learned in Church League, you were a LEGEND, right? If these guys find themselves and start winning, we all will applaud your services. You can then take a bow.

I’ll continue to watch every game and root for players and coaches to do well. In years like this one, when things aren’t going well, I’ll continue to watch them. Because I don’t think it’s UK’s birthright to win every game, nor to be FF contenders every year. It’s sports. Every team and every coach in the history of sports have had good years and bad.

I believe that Cal is a very good coach and the team will turn it around. And they’ll most certainly be better next year when they have some players that have actually played together before. Not sure what anyone expected knowing this roster’s lack of experience.

Stop being sensible!

Sounds like this forum lately.

People are making **** up at this point. We have some fans doing the "lets get along bit" after blasting people that don't agree with him.. we have fans that would rather Cal not win a title... Fans that think we should automatically win 2 titles every decade.

It's getting nutty.

We're talking about an interview in one thread. All the things going wrong and these people are creating a controversy out of an innocuous interview. A plain Jane interview. It's quite comical.

You have GOT to be related to Cal. You go thru more twists and turns trying to defend everything about Calipari.

Here's the deal, plainly and simply ... John Calipari is, overall, a mediocre basketball coach, and a great recruiter. As long as he had the best players, by a wide margin, he had success - which should be a surprise to no one.

His mediocrity became glaring when he gave away the Wisconsin game in 2015 with the best collection of talent ever assembled on a single college basketball team, from top to bottom, by (a) foolish pre-game preparation, most egregiously marked by his stubborn refusal to watch film of Wisconsin in preparing for the game, and (b) he again demonstrated his woeful lack of in-game coaching ability in the biggest game of his career.

Since 2015 Calipari has been unable to get the best players, and thus U.K. basketball has been a picture of almost constant mediocrity since 2015, minimally interspersed by flashes of the kind of play that individuals like De'Aaron Fox and Malik Monk can bring to the game from time to time, single-handedly, without any coaching.

Except all the times in the past I've called him out on things I guess. I'll work on being more negative though. How about some pointers. You seem to be very versed in it. This whole interview topic is complete nonsense though.

The same way that U Conn. beat our A$$ twice in the NCAA tournament, with only one player on each team that made the NBA. A guard. Cal only knows one thing, Drive it toward the basket. The Harrison twins saved his a$$ twice in the NCAA Tournament.
Cal has never won with his coaching, just his recruiting. Out of 11 years, how many times has he had the No. 1 recruiting class? He hasn't even been to the FF the last 4 or 5 years, and I have my doubts about this year. Cal is not a judge of talent. He just tries to get the longest and tallest. He doesn't realize they have to put the ball in the basket.

OLD STOLL FIELD GUY!

Not my pay grade to tell others how to be a fan. I have said all along, any fan that likes how things are going and having Cal as coach is fine by me, just don't expect me to follow something over a cliff.

You know I was always told by people that hated Cal, it was always we don't want him to leave we just want him to change or we do want him to leave.

Whenever someone would point out it's almost as if your gloating when UK does bad, they get all defensive and I understand why. What UK fan would ever want to see their team do poorly just so they can say I told you so.

But threads like this make me think otherwise. There are fans that would rather "be right" and see UK do poorly than be wrong and see us succeed. Not everyone honestly. Maybe not even a small portion but some.

It's sad.

I'll be the first to admit the Georgia Tech loss was a terrible loss. Also, this team looks lost on the court trying to run some type of offense. That being, Call me whatever you want but I still believe in and support Cal.

I remember the last Tubby years and the BCG time. This is much, better than those.

I do think it is funny that the same people that have turned on Cal and the 5 Start recruit (one and done) system, are the same people that wanted rid of Tubby because he recruited 4-year players and didn't have enough talent.

My one hope/request is that I would like to see Cal turn the offense over to a good coordinator/assistant.

Partly yes, partly no. Cal's first 5 years were great (Tubby won a title in his first five years too). His last 5 years look eerily similar to Tubby's last 5.

Since when is a sunshine pumper a derogatory term?

Nice try Line, but that was a massive fail on your part.

I mean that's fine if you don't see it that way but the very nature of someone making a thread just to say "I told you so" is a bit ridiculous IMO.

I mean if this team turns it around eventually you're not going to find me on this board making posts saying see I told you so.

And my original post did say I didn't think it was a large group but just the fact it's a handful is sad.
