A 2018 recruit was out "bid" by an unnamed NIKE rep who negotiated with AAU director Jide Sopido to place a future recruit in a specific school over two schools that are sponsored by Adidas. Dont shoot the messenger on this one. Could be rumor..Also hearing they are looking at Bagley. And Capel could be dirty.Duke recruiting has really picked up the last 3 years with 15 5* guys and counting

That is Quickley's AAU team, I'm confused, what you are trying to say?

More like mid to late 60's. Maybe (77) that is when you discovered him. One thing is sure about him was that he Never backed down about who he was.
Didn't the King, Elvis Presley die on August 16, 1977? Until that date Elvis was the King. Jerry Lee was the "Killer" and no one played a piano like the Killer. He also had two first cousins, Jimmy Swaggart and Mickey Gilley who were accomplished on the piano. A third cousin was equally talented but he became a minister and would only play in his church.

Jerry Lee Lewis was my daddy's favorite Rock N Roll entertainer and his favorite recording was "You Win Again", the recording he did for Sun Records. He recorded it a few other times on different labels but it was not as good. But it was still great.

Are we going to win the NCAA by being the only entry?

The FBI will if he's dirty..
That’s the only thing that makes me wonder if something might happen. The NCAA wouldn’t punish Duke if they put their player payroll in the friggin USA Today, but the FBI could give a crap about Duke. I still ain’t holding my breath but the feds are much more likely to take action than the spineless turds that chair that useless committee.

I'd like to remind everyone that there will be about 30 more rumors like this over the next several months and to just ignore all of them until its said by a trusted insider or a trusted news source.

Or maybe the OP could explain where he came up with this little tidbit (that is apparently nowhere else on the internet).

And maybe the KU trolls could focus on their recently announced internal investigation.

You don't think every college program is doing their own internal investigation? I guarantee even Kentucky is doing one. It's called due diligence. If the FBI popped this without any college or NCAA knowing about it, you betcha colleges are doing their diligence. And it wouldn't be the head coaches initiating it, it would be the AD's who want to keep their job.

Unless I misunderstood your post, but how this could be Duke that outbid a school for a 2018 recruit when the only two guys that have picked Duke for next year is Tre Jones and Cam Reddish. Don't think Duke had to outbid someone for these two guys.

Also, I don't think Bagley had to be paid to reclass and be eligible for the draft a year earlier...that would be an easy answer.

And it's easy to wonder why the recruiting picked up, K's association with USA Basketball, Capel and the fact that they went all in with OADs. They are selling showcasing the player and fast track to the NBA...pretty simple.

Unfortunately, I agree with this. I don't think Duke is dirty. Just my opinion but some schools just don't need to be dirty to get kids, like us too. Just don't see why Duke or UK would need to pay anyone. Now, there may be some wiggling around to get a kid eligible but I just think they find loopholes to use to not break any major rules.

This is beyond the NCAA at this point..

I can't say that enough.. There's no protecting Duke anymore. At least not the protection they're used to.

Let's all hope.. God it'd be great if K went out like Sandusky.

Nah duke isn't dirty Lance Thomas saved up his stipend for 70g worth of jewelry. Tell you the player that duke signed that after all this bothers me is Carter. We all talk about Cal backing off kids. I remember us being number 2 for Carter and Cal just backed off of him right after he made a statement about using the college he played for the way they use me. At the time Carter was ranked like number 2 in the country and people said well cal knows with duke as the leader we never get him. BS something else spooked Cal he doesn't back off competition unless he knew why Carter was a dukd lock. At the time even Carter wasn't sure why UK backed off.

The stuff we're seeing now is much like the Cory Maggette deal that happened with Duke in 99. Myron Piggie gave him cash while he was in high school which would render him ineligible. But Duke didn't know. Boosters and Nike were involved with Piggie. But Duke didn't know. Rules were broken and Duke benefitted from it. But Duke didn't know. THEY DIDN'T KNOW!!

Lance Thomas was different. He put down 30k on a 100k jewelry purchase while he was an unemployed college student. The remaining 70k was paid off by an unknown entity. Who? Duke doesn't know. With this situation though they are cleaner than the Maggette deal because not only did Duke not know, they weren't talking either. The NCAA's hands were tied. There was nothing at all they could do.

Duke is clean.

It's my opinion that both UK and Duke have no reason to pay kids. Why would they risk doing that? These schools sell themselves these days. It's the other schools that are trying to keep up.

The FBI could literally have a video of ratface handing a recruit a sack full of cash and the NCAA would say, "oh look, someone is dressed up in a Mike Krzyzewski costume trying to frame Duke."
Oh no that's not coach K, its his evil twin or the result of a secretive gov't cloning project gone awry.

Kids taking money is different from coaches paying players to come to their school. There are plenty of instances where kids have taken money from various sources but that doesn't mean the coach is dirty. If that were true, you'd have to call Cal dirty too because of Camby. It's just different when a coach pays a kid/family to come to that particular school.

Carter was always known as a Duke lock and Cal has backed off many different players over the years. That doesn't make them dirty at all. He could have given a verbal to Duke and Cal knew. You just can't label a player or coach dirty because Cal backed off a recruitment. We will start sounding like every other fan base out there claiming everyone is dirty because we didn't get someone. We are better than that and above all that BS.

Carter was never really an option here.
