I disagree, what has Texas done since he left? When he was there they were Kansas biggest threat in the conference. Look at the talent difference at UT and us but he gets them to overachieve. He owns Cal head to head. Not saying he’s my first choice but I wouldn’t be disappointed if it happened
What did they do before, when he was there, or since he left? Your memory about Barnes threat to Kansas is faulty. Barnes' best (most consistent) years were at Clemson. Fact.

For my money, swing for the fences. I won't re-list names already mentioned, but here's some others to consider

NBA: Scott Brooks, Frank Vogel, Nick Nurse, Michael Malone, Ryan Saunders, Nate Bjorgken

College: pretty much covered everyone. But here's some names to add for discussion: Kim English (longtime Barnes asst at Tenn, now HC at George Mason), Matt McMahon (Murray St), Steve Prohm (Iowa St)

Ugghhh this is not how it’s going to go. Calipari cannot keep a job that everyone and his bosses want him to lose. He’s not going to live day after day being seen as a loser holding a school to a contract. It’s too much pressure and his ego is too big to take those kinds of hits. He’s not me or you.

He doesn’t have to have the full amount. He’s got plenty of room to go after next season in a buyout. Calipari will absolutely walk away with over ONE HUNDRED MILLION dollars and a buyout. He’s won’t be concerned with all of it he’s made too much and will continue to do so somewhere else. Y’all need to quit talking about this issue like it’s gospel. It’s actually probably the opposite of what you keep saying.

What I’ve been saying for years and because people fall for his sales routine they don’t hear it. He will try hurt the program on the way out if he’s pissed. He’s not the guy that’s largely portrayed. We need to be careful.
I was just thinking this. Compliance better start watching him closely. If he starts playing games we could end up in real trouble with some major violations. Cal might burn down the house on his way out the back door.

Ray Harper (not sure who he is besides coaching at WKU) but they just said he is 13 - 3 versus Pearl

Seriously Donovan, Stevens, Drew, Few(not going anywhere) are fine with me

If you're going to make a coaching change, then you better d@mn well have his replacement lined up and locked in. Otherwise, it could get even worse.

Remember when Tubby left for Minn, which I think caught everyone off guard. Mitch had to scramble around and we ended up with BCG. Who was.......like 5th or 6th on the list. He was popular initially because he'd just beaten Pitino/UL in Rupp in the NCAAT.

Same as it's always been for the most part...at the top of the list anyway...

Billy Donovan
Jay Wright
Brad Stevens
Mark Few

You offer any of them a record-breaking deal...money, new personal jet, whatever...if you can get an indication that any of those guys are interested, you give Cal the ole Tubby...work out an amicable departure to where UK can say "no we didn't fire him...he took another job..." and Cal can say "I wasn't fired it was time to move on..."...basically the next time an NBA team comes knocking you just kind of let them in..." Cal bud we love ya but it's the NBA...we'd feel really awful if we got in the way of you moving on up..."

Scott Drew
Frank Vogel
Mark Pope
Eric Mussleman
Ed Cooley

Not necessarily, guys, you bump Cal/leave NBA door wide open for, but names to have on the list to watch/scout over the next couple of years.

I know a lot of folks here have said they would take Pitino back but count me in the group of fans that say Oh hell no. I was ready for Pitino to leave when he went to the Celtics. I am tired of having coaches who have egos that are bigger than the program. I am tired of being talked down to as a fan. I am tired of the smartass remarks to the fans and media like "Basketball Benny's" etc. To me it isn't all about wins and losses. You can win and win big and still be a decent person.

Cal is still owed well over $60 million more on his current contract. We can’t afford to fire him, and no chance he’s walking away from that kind of money.

Like it or not, he ain’t going anywhere. If you don’t like it, take it up with Mitch.
Well, then that just proves Cal sucks AND has no professional integrity.

We could hope that there is some kind of way to fire him for just cause. I don't know what that would be. but most contracts have one. Has anyone seen Cal's contract?
What kind of contract doesn't include a performance clause? Oh yes, those in academia.

If cal resigns or is fired, who are legitimate options to replace him?

Bennet from Virginia comes to mind. I doubt jay wright would be interested but worth sniffing around. Again long shot but could sniff around brad stevens.

what are other good options?
Bennet? People ***** when Cal slows it down with a lead but you want Bennett who slows it down the whole game? Lol

We are going to need someone to rebuild a program when Calipari goes because of his recruiting. There will be lots of holes on the roster to fill and the first season could be a mess.

I'd give Scott Drew the first call.
Can’t believe it took that long to name the first and hopefully last call. If it happens soon this is the answer.

We need to start cheating or just bring back Pitino. He knows what UK basketball can be and will salvage it before he retires.

It’s a business and fans need to stop being loyal. Is Cal loyal to the fans by sitting Sharpe? He doesn’t give a damn about the fans. Get over it!
I have to say ... I love it when you post. I don't necessarily care what you have to say ... just not that interested, but I do like that avatar. Fine work. :)

The way fans get mad at Cal for "stall ball" this guy isn't the answer. He's got no concept of offensive basketball. Maybe UK could replace the rims with peach baskets.
Holtman is terrible. Scott drew is probably the best choice of college coaches but let’s see who makes a run in the tournament. I’m sure there are 50 better options than our arrogant wind bag coach who is unmotivated to win but motivated to act like a clown in the media. He’s an entertainer that’s it!

Kind of shocked at how many want Pearl. IF he was the best I still wouldn't want him. A cheater, sneak, liar and just the way he comes across. The guy at Arizona was highly thought of when he was there. Gonzaga, NC and Duke the only three schools to average over 80 points a game for a bunch of seasons. And he apparently had a good hand in it. But of course Gonzaga's competition the worst so not sure how he would do against better teams. Stevens is one the best modern day coaches I have seen. Drew looks to be pretty good also. Not many that could hack it here. But have to realize the very few at the very top in coaching and recruiting ability, have to believe there would be a couple very interested. Fans are unmatched as well as the history. A great game coach that can recruit would have a ball at a place like this.

Ah Bennet.
The guy that lost to a 16 seed.

I'm sure you would have done well with that if he did it here.
