Mack is an excellent coach. He is now coaching a top ten team in one of the better BASKETBALL conferences. I live in Northern KY where he lives. My impression is that he will stay at X forever but he might leave in 5 years or so when his kids leave home. Then he might go to any job in the country. He is a poor man's Brad Stevens. He is not taking the Louisville job.. I certainly agree that Padgett has done an excellent job but the team will continue to deteriorate over the next few year when recruiting ill be horrid.Outside of top tier blue bloods, Mack is running one of the better and more stable basketball programs in the country. Xavier will increase his salary no doubt, so money really isn't the issue.
If he is interested in big pay days and leaving Xavier, he will be in line for bigger opportunities than UL. In a few more years Duke, UNC, and Syracuse could all open. Hell, Michigan State could open next week. Also, he could quietly be on some NBA radars as well.
