I guess him and Hump didn’t want to play behind 5 star freshmen for four years.
Yeah but he only played one year here....you dont lose a year of eligibility just from transferringHad to sit out a year

Because Michigan lists all its players by what year they are academically. Why is he listed as a junior?
Losing Matthews was a huge loss to last year’s title chances. At 6’6” with his elite wingspan, Charles was the type of player UK could have used to guard guys like Josh Jackson and Dillon Brook en route to a national title.
It’s easy to downplay such a loss, but Matthews in a defensive role last year at the 3 (with Briscoe coming off the bench) would have been a great blend alongside Monk on the wing.
All that said, I’m glad to see the young man playing well. Through 5 games, he’s averaging 18ppg, 6rpg, and 3apg. No bad.

He's a redshirt sophomore.
Some of our Nostradumass fans have been hilarious over the years.Charles Mathews is shooting 28.6% from three, and free throws at 56.3%. People are like HE CAN SHOOT.
Isaiah Briscoe shoots 28.8% from three as a sophomore (more than doubling his percentage from freshman year) and FT at 63.5%. HE CAN"T SHOOT. He'll NEVER be able to shoot.
lol
The guy is averaging 17.5 points per game on 58 percent shooting (.375 on threes) at Michigan. Sounds like he can shoot to me.
And, btw, Matthews is also putting up excellent rebounding, assist and steal numbers. And he was always a good defender. Appears the kid's developing into quite a baller.
Shame he didn't stay. We surely could've used him last year at that 3 spot--where his only competition would've been Briscoe--and in our backcourt this year.

Seriously?
No, you don't.
Believe this is the right answer. Most conferences add a loss of a year if you transfer IN conference. Otherwise, you just have to sit a year and have 3 years left.
Are you an idiot... when you transfer unless going down in division you have to sit out s year... therefore you lose a year of eligibility
Yes you do you have to sit out a year when transferring.. unless you transfer to a lower division

We may need one of those facepalm gifs for something this dumb. I'm not sure you even understand what the word eligibility means.
Maybe, you should delete one of your posts before people wake up and read them. They might form an opinion of you.:flushed: Hint: one is right.[banana]
When you transf
Dude use google... when you transfer you can’t play the following year... you lose a year... damn you’re ignorant

Might want use that thing called “google “
You have no clue how stupid you appear on this thread. Apparently you need an elementary school explanation of something I presumed everybody here already knew:
Under NCAA rules, every player is entitled to four years of playing eligibility. Players who transfer are automatically granted a 5th year to make up for the year that they sat out. They do NOT lose a year of eligibility, they still get four, the same number as the players who do not transfer. Got it?
Amazes me that any grown up college basketball fan would not know this.
In his defense, I thinks he’s just saying that they have to sit out a year. May have missed a post or so but I think that’s what he’s saying and he’s right about that. You’re both right actually.

Maybe, but his wording didn’t seem like it whatsoever
I commend you for a charitable interpretation, but no, he's actually quite clear that he means "lose a year of eligibility", and gets quite snotty with those try to correct him.
