I guess him and Hump didn’t want to play behind 5 star freshmen for four years.

If that is the case, then there was a simple solution. They could have worked hard on their games so they would be better than the incoming 5-star freshmen.

Losing Matthews was a huge loss to last year’s title chances. At 6’6” with his elite wingspan, Charles was the type of player UK could have used to guard guys like Josh Jackson and Dillon Brook en route to a national title.

It’s easy to downplay such a loss, but Matthews in a defensive role last year at the 3 (with Briscoe coming off the bench) would have been a great blend alongside Monk on the wing.

All that said, I’m glad to see the young man playing well. Through 5 games, he’s averaging 18ppg, 6rpg, and 3apg. No bad.

Definitely would have helped, but Matthews thought he was a one and done.

Because Michigan lists all its players by what year they are academically.

He's a redshirt sophomore.

Believe this is the right answer. Most conferences add a loss of a year if you transfer IN conference. Otherwise, you just have to sit a year and have 3 years left.

Charles Mathews is shooting 28.6% from three, and free throws at 56.3%. People are like HE CAN SHOOT.

Isaiah Briscoe shoots 28.8% from three as a sophomore (more than doubling his percentage from freshman year) and FT at 63.5%. HE CAN"T SHOOT. He'll NEVER be able to shoot.

lol
Some of our Nostradumass fans have been hilarious over the years.

Remember, WCS, Andrew and Tyler are all 4-year players who will never play at the next level. [roll][roll][roll][roll][roll][roll][roll]

The guy is averaging 17.5 points per game on 58 percent shooting (.375 on threes) at Michigan. Sounds like he can shoot to me.

And, btw, Matthews is also putting up excellent rebounding, assist and steal numbers. And he was always a good defender. Appears the kid's developing into quite a baller.

Shame he didn't stay. We surely could've used him last year at that 3 spot--where his only competition would've been Briscoe--and in our backcourt this year.

Makes a lot of layups. He will not shoot a high percentage from 3 for the entire season. He's not a shooter.

Are you an idiot... when you transfer unless going down in division you have to sit out s year... therefore you lose a year of eligibility

Yes you do you have to sit out a year when transferring.. unless you transfer to a lower division

Maybe, you should delete one of your posts before people wake up and read them. They might form an opinion of you.:flushed: Hint: one is right.[banana]

We may need one of those facepalm gifs for something this dumb. I'm not sure you even understand what the word eligibility means.

You do not lose a year. Each player entering college has 4 years of eligibility over a 5 year period. Completing the required academic year in residence when transferring does not eliminate one of the years of eligibility.

If you played only one season at a school, then you can still play an additional three seasons at a new school after you've sat out for one year.

You have no clue how stupid you're making yourself look. Apparently you need an elementary school explanation of something I presumed everybody here already knew:

NCAA rules entitle every player to four years of eligibility. Players who transfer get a 5th year to make up for the year they sat out. They do NOT lose a year of eligibility, they still get four, the same as those who don't transfer. Got it?

Amazes me that a grown up college basketball fan would not know this.

In his defense, I thinks he’s just saying that they have to sit out a year. May have missed a post or so but I think that’s what he’s saying and he’s right about that. He just worded it poorly by saying the player loses a year of eligibility because that’s wrong but I think he’s just saying they have to sit out a year.

See Kyle Wiltjer - played 2 years at UK, transferred, then played 2 years at Gonzaga

Didn’t lose a year. This isn’t new, lol

Maybe, but his wording didn’t seem like it whatsoever

I commend you for a charitable interpretation, and at first that's what I thought he maybe meant, But no, if you read his posts, he's actually quite clear that he means lose a year of eligibility, and he gets quite snotty with those who try to correct him.

Charles should have stayed around . He would have been a junior and would thrive with our transition offense! Anyway I'm happy for him.

Ya'll might think I'm a prick, but when a kid leaves just to be leaving, I am not one to celebrate him doing good.

Kid is killing so far tonight.

Don’t blame him for transferring - afraid of getting overshadowed by another wave of elite talent coming in so he leaves, works on his game, and with time he becomes better. Glad he’s doing well.

He got tired of playing behind 5 stars. Any doubts he would still be on the pine this year?
