Did watch the video or just read the posts in this thread? Every player since Calipari has been here has said the same thing and no one was complaining when UK was going to final fours but now it’s an embarrassment. I’m fine with what we said
Not initially, look at Eric Bledsoe’s statements again when you get a chance. It was about getting “stuff” right at UK then the greatest night in UK history happened and it has gradually switched to this mentality Over the last several years but the caliber of player is way way down at the school and lots of guys leave barely making the D-league.

I agree with most here though you can’t have it both ways, if you want high end talent they are going to want to be pro, but there is a difference in a John Wall, MKG, than a Shaodon Sharpe and most players we settle for these days.

we used to get stud players that wanted to get better, work hard and become successful, now we get players who don’t even want to play but want the perks of the Kentucky effect.

He was asked about him and Livingstons goals at UK and said "we want to go far into our college season and get out of there as soon as possible" LMAO UK has become a joke as far as whether our players even want to be here. I get that they all have dreams of playing in the NBA but my lord. About 3 min mark if you want to watch.

But aren’t you one of the biggest Cal backers on this site ?

That Sharpe didn't play despite Cal knowing he would never play here next year is a joke. Can you imagine Tubby or Pitino or even Joe B tolerating that situation. Why didn't Cal say , son you will be a top 5 pick in this year's daft, the team this year needs you and since you are ON the team right now I need you to play and help us win.If he says no why not hold a press conference the next day and SAY that the kid has decided to prepare for coming gratf and will be leaving the team.. Many cr,y that would have ruined recruiting, horse apples , NOBODY else in college basket basketball is putting up with this kind of nonsense but us NOBODY

I don’t remember Fox and Bam having this attitude in the locker room after the UNC loss. But what do I know. I guess they did since some say all players under Cal felt this way.

I'm going to give you all a little insight most none of you will want to hear: it's not the culture Cal has created, it's the culture the fans have created! No players want to deal with most UK fans because of how unbearably ridiculous many have become. They want to get as far away from them as quickly as possible.
Yeah thats ******** . If that were the case they wouldn’t come here in the first place. Nice try though, except it wasn’t.

That's the culture we have at UK.We will be the first school with a high draft pick who didn't care enough to play.Shouldn't we feel proud?

No they didn't but they were the 3A list type recruits. When is the last time we had somebody that good as a freshman. Best player we have had in 3 years was was the kid from Canada.

Definitely not wise to say it especially with all that is going on with this program Right now .

I don’t really care since I figured that is how I believe most top recruits view college . He has a reputation for being a competitor and hard worker so at the end of the day hopefully that’s what he does while he’s here .

Boy, Triple C really hit a grand slam with this recruiting class. 4 players: 1 who will never even play despite robbing UK for nil money, 1 whose already admitted he can’t wait to leave before he gets here, 1 who decommitted and the last who will probably be a mix of Brooks and Whitney.

Stellar job CCC. This was supposed to be his big comeback class too. 😂 Now it’s down to 2 players, 1 I already can’t stand and the other I have low expectations for.

Lovely.

I don't believe they would have stayed in the end, and I have doubts that really happened. One was the #1 pick and another the #2. The kids have goals and dreams and when it's staring you in the eyes you don't turn it down.

Either way, whether you come out and state it plainly or demonstrate it with your actions the end result is the same. You may find the latter more palatable but it doesn't change the outcome. Let's wait to see how Cason carries himself during the season before we persecute a kid with little or no PR training who plainly stated his goal is to get to the NBA asap.

There is tactfulness. Wall had it. Davis had it. They knew they would be OAD, but they respected the program enough to not say stupid comments like Wallace just said.

I wish Calipari had this same mentality. Get out as quick as possible, but I’m afraid we are stuck with him since he tried the NBA already and highly doubt they would ever want him back. His final season coaching in the NBA, he started 3-17 and was fired.

And yet fans aren't allowed to criticize players or they'll be labeled as abusive nut jobs. Basically, "Here's your crap sammich, enjoy it and keep quiet!"
The guys blistering our fans remind me of the terrible advice given rape victims in the 60s. If it appears inevitable just lie back and try to enjoy it.. That's what our fans are being asked to do.

Shut up and color boys!!! You know the drill. These kids are on a pedestal and above criticism. Your concerns are of no importance. You're all to blame and go root for another team!!

Anyone who spins this **** is despicable. We all know it's just a pitstop to them, nothing else but damn!!

Maybe Cal told him to take on that attitude just to irk the fan base.

This is it in a nutshell. It's not the kid's fault, it's Cal's.

Cal doesn't respect the Fan base or the tradition of UK so WHY would any of the NEW recruits? Heck, Cal will spin this also into some BS that portrays what Wallace said as being helpful to recruit others. This is just another example of Cal tearing down ANY attachment the fans have to his players.

How could this statement help this kid get ANY local NIL deals???

I think Cal is a good coach but coaching basketball is different from football. You can't just show up and use superior talent to win. Anyone can lose to anyone. It is even worse now with all the transfers and dog eat dog, I and done. A coach has to coach like he is coaching st Peter's.. Who will you get to replace Cal?

Half or more of this board is already complaining how we've slipped in recruiting, you can't have it both ways.
Could we have it one of the ways? Lately we take the slightly above average players who don’t want to be here.

No idea, I don’t think we will be replacing cal anytime soon he has a lifetime contract so it is a moot point. I think as a unc fan it is easy to understand though that whoever it is will have a very good chance to be successful and if he fails then will be replaced with someone who will be successful quickly.

I don’t think he meant that as bad as it sounded but that’s a terrible look. Everybody know he’s wants to be one and one but there some thing called tact. how you say something often times matters just as much as what you say.

Pretty much where I am with it...horrible choice of words, yes, but go far into the season and get out asap can easily equal make a long run and be OAD. But with the state of affairs here currently this was only going to go one way

No one is saying they don't want him to have an NBA career but can he wait until he actually plays here to talk about it?I mean we are about to lose a kid who never bothered playing.
Yeah his talk is easy, now let's see what he does on the court. Will he be solid and contribute or will he be the next Whitney,Askew or any other overhyped kid to come here and be a non factor.

Well to play devils advocate, the kid isn’t here yet. Who’s to say he won’t love it just as much as MKG?
Who's to say he even plays? Maybe he'll just spend the season on the bench so he doesn't hurt his draft stock.

I think it was a stupid thing to say but I believe this kid is a real competitor not like the kid that sit the bench half a year this year! I think he will play and give it his all this next year. I know one thing next off season we don’t need to expect him to come back for another season and we can thank coach Triple C for creating that culture!

What's the difference if he says it out loud compared to just leaving after a season. You should just realize this is the mindset of nearly every single top recruit and not take offense.
We have had players claim they were staying four years to get their degree but then left after one and they were called out by the fans, so why hide it if you are going to get trashed either way.

Just checking in this morning , I've read page one , haven't got to page 2-3, ands it amazing the poorer the situation is , or the more damaging to our reputation , the more the defenders sprint to the defense . They move with the quickness of a cat to make any excuse they can to defend their king . Its nauseating .

Yes. He's ENTIRELY wrong. The fans did not create this situation. The fans have NO SAY, remember? This program is run by the AD and the coach, only. The fans are owed nothing, they contribute nothing - so say the Caltards.
What a poor, sad existence. shew. Man it must suck to be you.

He could have said that he is going to get paid thru NLI and work out for 8 months in practice, never suit up and declare for the NBA.

People spinning a guy saying “I want to get out of there as soon as possible” before he ever even plays a game for us as no big deal. What a culture we have created.
Yeah , its quite amazing . My level of interest will be next to zero next year . And I was a guy that flew all over the country attending games . I'm a 3rd year season ticket holder in football, nothing but the funniest , most exciting game ever . And I think I'll spend more time watching Rachael and the softball team. I know they play for the name on the front of the jersey .
