You're a liar. It's that simple. You've lied everytime you post. I advocated for cal before BCG. I advocated for cal this time around and I made it perfectly clear I love cal. You have misrepresented what I said several times now. Please go back and dig up anything I said negative about the man. He has stated many times he provides info he receives from the NBA and offers his advice if they want it.
So tell us what he should do "hold on to his (your) players"
Coach K has the best model. He brings players in who are 1 and done and he retains most with exception of his championship season last year. he gets similar types of recruits and has a knack for keeping them around. He also has 2 championships in 5 years. You gonna dispute this too ??
It's been well documented that Cal wants the One and Done rule to change. He thinks there should be incentives in place to keep players multiple years [insurance in case of injury and stipends being among them].
But until that day comes, Cal is making the best out of a flawed system. And his teams have been in the hunt more often than not during his tenure here.
Not sure why this is such a hard concept to grasp. If you have an issue with this, you're better off rooting for another team anyway or making like said ticket holders and dropping the whole thing. Cuz I don't see Cal's approach changing any time soon, given the circumstances and current landscape of the sport.

Duke wasn't even the best team both Championship seasons, just good enough. And lucky enough to have a cakewalk region.
Coach K also whiffs on occasion. See the Mercer and Lehigh games. Where were they in 2011? Exactly.
I think you have the wrong picture of Cal, like he is literally pushing kids out the door when they have little chance to succeed at the next level. He gives them an honest assessment, but the choice is ultimately up to what they and their family want. Would you rather he manipulate them into staying when they clearly don't want to? How do you think that would play out?
My last post in this thread. He pushed me on specific system a coach who has a better system without a doubt it's K. I can't stand coach K but his success has been 2 titles in 2010 and 2015. He keeps players around generally and has two championships in 5 years bc of it. Those are just facts
Where were we in 2013? Again I don't like K but you can't spit convenient facts and not look at the entire context.
your expectations are unrealistic and Cal's results are incredibly good there 64 teams that try to win championship every year lol I have been a UK fan for 47 years and have high expectations but this period with Cal has been off the charts successful.
K's system isnt better. He won 1 title with his old system and won 1 with the one and done system. Two different systems.
Wiltjer wouldn't have averaged 10 min a game last year are you crazy? He was smart to transfer his game doesn't fit with cal's strategist. You have to be at least competent on defense to succeed with cal and Wiltjer is not.
The cupboard was bare following a Championship year. Guys took the opportunity and left. Not Cal's fault.
Weak incoming class. Not Cal's fault.
Ryan Harrow's father had a stroke. He had some other personal issues too. Not Cal's fault.

He used 1 and done 1 season so he has a 100% success rate. K is constantly tweaking what he does. He watches what others do to bring success and he changes it to his style. Every season he changes things up. K is probably the most reflective coach in the NCAA and he is willing to do what it takes for his program to be successful. He wins championships bc he coaches for championships not regular season success.
Because K is a helluva coach does not mean I would rather have him here. As a person I like cal far more than coach k. Cal is the perfect fit for us. He has been tremendously successful. That said it doesn't mean hes perfect and this forum is to discuss UK hoops. We just got put out second round and I addressed why I thought that was and why next season is no certainty.
There is no such thing as a "system" coaches have to be flexible season to season and not get caught up in a fixed mindset.
Plenty of context. I know what happened in 2013. I never blamed cal. The other guy tried to use K losing in first rd and I said to him ok, well we didn't even make it one season. 2013 to me is not something I even consider as it pertains to Cals success.
BtW I emailed this thread to Cal to see what he thinks. I told him I started the thread and who I am. We see what he says

What do you consider 1 and done? Because if you argue Irving , Parker , and this year as not being one and done for Duke then I could easily argue 2011, 2013, and 2014 as not being 1 and done since only 1 or 2 players left early in those years.
P.S. Duke was hoping Thornton and Jeter would also be 1 and done when they were recruiting them
I don't have a problem with 1 and done players but they should be an exception IMO not a selling point. 2/3 of each class should be multi year players in each recruiting class. Towns needed to go no doubt. Davis was ready too no doubt. Cousins, wall were ready. If it stopped there I would say nothing. But when you have mass exodus every year you cannot build a program like that

which OAD players in the last 3 years has K convinced to come back?
without his OAD players last year, that team would have been NIT bound

his last title was directly related to OAD players

I don't think recruiting lesser talent is a recipe for winning.
Cal has been here 7 years now. I'd argue he's already debunked the idea that you can't build a program like this.
I think your wrong when you say that Coach Cal needs to change his Philosphy on his recruiting. That is what we hear all the time that Coach Cal needs to recruit more 3-4 year players and no as many OAD. I disagree with that statement because Coach Cal recruits the best and if some fans remember before we landed Coach Cal the former Head Coach was getting 3 star players that were 3-4 year players. In his last 5 years we were heading to the NCAA Tourney as a 8 or 9 Seed and usually losing in the 2nd round. I would rather recruit the best and have a chance at making the Final Four and winning the Championship. We have now been to 4 Final Fours out of Coach Cal's 7 years and an Elite 8 loss. We have 1 championship and 1 runner-up in those 4 years at the Final Four. Your not going to have that chance to be able to play in 4 Final Four and win a Championship with 2* and 3* players. With Coach Cal's recruiting classes we have players that stay 3 or 4 years and there has been some players that Coach Cal has told there not ready and they make the decision to go to the NBA. All Coach Cal can do is give the players the information from the NBA and they have to make the decision. We had a couple in each of the last 2-3 years recruiting classes that left after year one and that was there decision to leave after 1 year. I would rather watch like next year a Class that has Fox, Monk, BAM, SKJ, Gabriel, and maybe Bolden than 2 and 3* star players. We also have players returning next year in Briscoe, Lee, Willis, Hawkins, Hump,and Wynyard to go along with the #1 Recruiting Class. So, we do have returning players to go along with the OAD players each year.

Teague and Goodwin were told by teams they would be taken late in the first round... so thats not really borderline when you have assurances.

I am on your side somewhat here, but please consider this...if Cal "wronged" these guys as you are saying, where is the backlash from these kids as they all seem to be loyal to Cal and the program ,so maybe Cal is actually giving his imput and they are making the decisions? I know that I read that he was surprised the twins came back and that Dakari's people were the ones that pushed him to the draft against Cal's advice...but, you are like me in that you are a little envious of the control K seems to have on his players
