Yes, I know that the game happened in reality because I watched it.

I also disagree that the banner should still be hanging because the title was vacated.

That does not change the fact that the game happened, and if we were having a discussion about Cal vs Pitino in the NCAAT, I would count his wins in 2012 and 2013.

What you are doing is being disingenuous, and everyone here knows it.

So stop, please. Self is not as good of a tournament coach as Cal based on the results. That's just a fact.

Self... .704
Cal.... .685
those are the facts

Give it up man. You are trying to reason with someone who believes that Helm banners are the same as NCAA titles. She is fine erasing every win but wants to add a loss just so the numbers look good in her favor. These are fans who cheer for known woman beaters. Pathetic.

1 Final Four.

You should hang a banner for gaming the system.

Play a decent OOC schedule, but one that really only has 2-3 losable games. Win your wildly overrated conference. Get a 1 or 2 seed, bomb out of the tournament. Rinse, repeat.

Did Billy Preston at least get to keep the car, BTW?

Don't we play you ever year?

Keep pretending that Cal's NCAA Tournament record should include vacated games.

I didn't say a word about those games. Might want to check your facts. I'm a UK fan so what Cal did prior to coming here does not concern me. Since we're wiping those games out Cal is 1-0 against Selk in the only game that matters to me. Bet your a Texas football fan too.

Kansas fans know they have no way of winning his tournament let alone he to the final four. Graham leavin and possibly Vick...poor recruiting has caught up to Kansas.

We should be the title favorite next year. We may lose Vick and Newman, but if we do we'll probably add Langford.

Nice. I'd give up the streak for a title. No reason you can't win both.

No I'm just trying to figure out how you're predicting Kansas the title favorite for next year. Hard to predict that when you don't even know who's coming back for your team or others. I can do that too, Kentucky is the favorite for 2037. Cal has that class locked up.

Interesting Question...
In Official Overall NCAA Appearances:

Calipari is 37-25 or .596 with UMass, Memphis and UK
Self is 43-18 or .704 with Tulsa, Illinois and Kansas.

Self made one NIT appearance with Oral Roberts and Cal had five NIT appearances with UMass, Memphis and UK. None of their NIT record are included in these percentages.

Cal is hurt by his 0-6 (2007-08) and 0-5 (1995-96) vacated seasons.

If you don't count all of the vacated losses and just give him 0-1 for those two years, then his record improves to: 37-17 or .685

Dok is practicing and should play some minutes vs. Penn. My guess he will get 10 minutes or so.
Let me explain to you what KySpringcat is trying so valiantly to get through your thick skull.

First of all, Cal wasn't cheating during those two seasons, but let's even say that he was for sake of analogy -

Say your child is in a U-14 basketball league, and some other kid leads his team to an undefeated season, dropping 30 and 10 a game and generally getting the best of your 20 and 5 boy every time they meet.

It later turns out that the other kid is 15, and his title is stripped.

Forget about age for a second... at this moment in time, is your boy a better player than the other kid? Of course not. The numbers still demonstrate a considerable gap in ability which doesn't magically disappear just because the record book is altered.

Maybe later down the road when they're both adults, your kid will be better - and maybe when Billy rughead grows up, he'll be better than Cal.

But he sure as hell isn't now, and the actual tournament results make that clear (46 and 17 for Cal if your numbers are correct, which is a 73% win rate).

To answer your Louisville retort, no, they don't have a championship, but if we were comparing the strength of teams from 2013, it would be asinine to state that because Duke went to the Elite 8 and Louisville technically had no wins in the tournament, Duke was in fact the better team.

It's not a difficult concept.

Louisville was obviously better than Duke in 2013. Anybody who isn't brain damaged knows that. At the same time, Louisville was not allowed to keep their championship from 2013.

Cal is obviously a better coach than Self. Anybody who isn't brain damaged knows that. At the same time, Cal was not allowed to keep his F4s from those two years.

All of these statements can be, and are, true - all at once.

Kentucky board, learn to read bro
Yeah, he's a lot better than your average college coach. He's also the second best coach of the two we're discussing in this thread.

Self had the worst KU squad in 15 years, started a 3 star with an offer from applacian state, lost his 5 star one and done and...

Won a conference champ
Won a conference tournament champ
Won record conference champ
Went to sweet 16

Pretty damn good coach

Yeah. Pretty good.

Cal took a school that had been to 1 NCAA tournament in history (1962), and averaged 29 wins a season over 5 including a sweet 16, an elite 8 and a final 4. He did this with two players on his entire roster that even had a single high-major offer.

But yes, I'd say Self is a top 5 active coach, so I'd be happy with him if I were a KU fan, as well. Short of locked-in guys like Cal or K, you're not going to do better.

If we only lose Shai and Knox, I'd take us.

If we lose Shai, Knox, and Hami, I could go either way.
