I saw that interview and he looked bad, he must spend a long time being made up for the games. The make up artist has his hands full.
Given the early flameouts, I can't believe you'd even want anyone to know that. But hey, if you're good with bread banners....9 straight years as 1 or 2 seed. All time record

That's why he THE most popular coach with college basketball writers. He does terrible things running his program but he does treat everyone with respect. (Unless he needs your roster spot)I hate Kansas, and I think that they're dirty, but I still think that Self comes off as a really nice guy.
There are a bunch of coaches, such as K and Pitino that you can just tell would be turds to a normal person on the street.
Self doesn't seem that way at all...
Could Kentucky get upset this year? Sure. There’s a possibility. However if history teaches us anything, I think it would be a smarter bet on a different school crapping the bed.
What does Self’s tourney record look like at KU? What is Cal’s?
What’s he word on your big guy?
Interesting Question...
In Official Overall NCAA Appearances:
Calipari is 37-25 or .596 with UMass, Memphis and UK
Self is 43-18 or .704 with Tulsa, Illinois and Kansas.
Self made one NIT appearance with Oral Roberts and Cal had five NIT appearances with UMass, Memphis and UK. None of their NIT record are included in these percentages.
Cal is hurt by his 0-6 (2007-08) and 0-5 (1995-96) vacated seasons.
If you don't count all of the vacated losses and just give him 0-1 for those two years, then his record improves to: 37-17 or .685
Dok is practicing and should play some minutes vs. Penn. My guess he will get 10 minutes or so.
Here's his seeds at KU:

3 - First round

Not to make light of a death but that dude was too big. Cannot do that and get away with it... Just can't. I hope you're not that large...
No point in comparing anything but UK/KU tourney records. Plus, the way you wrote that makes people think that at Oral Roberts, all the other years they made the big dance except the one NIT. They didn’t. Why give Cal 0-1 for vacated seasons? What sense does that make? You are wiping out two final fours and instead giving him L’s for those games to fit your agenda.
If he doesn’t go, KU is ripe to get picked off.

You can't give him 0-0. Maybe his actual records of 0-6 at Memphis and 0-5 at UMass is too punitive. But I didn't wipe out two final fours, the NCAA did. And those games, he officially lost by the games being vacated. But even if you just give him 0-1, Self's overall record is better.
1 Final Four.9 straight years as 1 or 2 seed. All time record
When games are vacated, they are vacated. The 5-1 and 4-1 records do not turn into 0-6 and 0-5 records against him. The wins are wiped out, and each year should correctly be reflected as 0-1 in the record books. But, if you are going to judge coaching ability and records, just add up the actual wins and then note with an * that the NCAA vacated those seasons. You can't give him 0-0. And regarding the NIT, I was not attempting to imply that Self went the NIT often. He went only once with Oral Roberts. Cal went six times with UMass, Memphis and UK.
While Silvio DeSousa looked good, I agree with you; Kansas needs Dok to get far in the Tournament Hard to rely on Freshmen.
:joy:
This is perhaps the most ridiculous garbage I've read on this board all year, and half the people who post here likely have psychological problems.
Just for ***** and giggles, how about running the numbers without those two additional losses you inexplicably attributed to Cal? Any particular reason you don't want to go there?
Actually, don't worry about it. We already know why. That would push Cal (.712) to a higher winning percentage than your numbers for Self (.704).
Your bias is showing.
You guys want to pretend those games were not vacated, go right ahead...there are Louisville fans that will still claim a National Championship too.

Nope. Just pointing out how you selectively chose not to run the numbers in an intuitive way because it undermined your premise.
Except that this is a discussion on tournament coaching ability. The games happened, so if we are going to compare coaches and how well they do in the NCAAT, you need to include those games unless you are just biased...which you are, of course.
If you are just looking at records for some other reason, then sure, be technical about it and mark them as 0-1.
In this case, the discussion is about reality, not technicality.
Okay then you would agree that, unless you are bias, that Rick Pitino and Louisville won a NCAA Championship and the banner should still hang in Yum because it was realistically still a win, right?
