Kylin Hill says he won’t represent MS next season if the flag isn’t changed. I see a floodgate opening for State and Ole Miss. By the way the NCAA ruled on our flag and championships, I guarantee you that they will grant waivers to any players wanting to play out of state. Reeves is about to cost this state tens of millions.

We were warned about Tate and voted him in anyway. He and most of the legislature are good ole boys, and won't do what's right unless some big money rolls into their pockets under the table.

Not sure what he wants miss state to do. Cohen was all over the radio this morning campaigning. I guess Maybe we could refuse to play any games until the state leaders act.

Need a bunch of black OM players to say they will sit out if we really want something done. Just a fact that there are many more legislators with OM ties than there are those with MSU ties.

Good for him. This will no doubt spread rapidly and, hopefully, force Tate Reeves clammy, limp-fish, ***** hand. I'm surprised it took so long.

It’s really not that hard. It’s the right thing to do on about 1,830,899 different levels.

Here is my concern... I still have zero faith in our leaders in Jackson. I will believe this gets resolved soon when I see it happen, otherwise I’m concerned it may cost us Kylin if not other players.

It was awfully rude of us

To change the flag to something he doesn’t like right before his senior season. Of course, maybe MS history isn’t taught until second semester junior year. **

State government leadership needs to feel the big time heat. They need to fear enough players threatening to sit out such that football games get forfeited. No SEC games in the state. Etc. The media attention for all that would be a disaster for the state. This isn’t like the “bathroom bill” deal where the nation is pretty split. Nobody but a few extreme lunatics are invested in this and are married to the confederate battle flag. There will be no sympathy. Rip the band aid off and be done with it!!!

Seriously, conservative or liberal, WHO are these people desperately clinging to a 150 year old symbol of a time when MS was not even part of the United States? Why does it mean so much to them? Change the state flag and all these people can still fly the confederate flag on their front porch 365 days a year.

That's not true. Maybe it was 20-30 years ago, but no longer.

I counted a few years ago and State had the most. USM was 2nd. Ole Miss was 3rd, actually. Their influence in state politics has been waning for years now.

You would be surprised, I think over 50% of people in MS do not want it changed from a recent poll.

If the leading RB in the SEC thinks he can inspire change by transferring out and being vocal about it, then more power to him. With everything that has happened, show some damn sympathy.

He wants State fans who are for keeping the flag to change their mind.

Holy skittles!! Just change the flag. I do not even care what they change it to. They can put a picture of my bare *** on it. Just change the thing.

Tate was in charge of the Senate for the past 8 years though. This whole ‘do nothing’, ‘let the people decide’ precedent is entirely on him. If he had the tiniest bit of foresight he would have voluntarily changed the flag in 2015 after the Charleston shooting. We voted him in, over both Waller & Hood (both wanted to change the flag) now we all get to deal with the consequences.

Have said for years the only way the flag will ever change is if MSU and OM players refuse to play. Very sad, but true. I wish that Tate Reeves, Delbert Hosemann, and other so-called "leaders" had half the fortitude of Kylin Hill.

But Gunn is for the flag change, right?

Supposedly. The deal is he nor delbert think they have the votes to push it through. If that's the case, be mad at your legislators. They are the problem. I'd love to see a public boy and let's see who votes against it.

The majority of that is just stubbornness and not wanting to be told what we have to do. If the legislature just does it, few will care substantially enough to impact their giving, voting, etc.

Our anger should be at Gunn and delbert.

Can they do anything? I think the deadline to drop bills passed long ago, and I don't think the leadership can just suspend rules without a 2/3's vote. The best they can do is I think finish up the session so that Tate can then call a special session to address the flag. Not a parliamentarian though, so maybe I'm missing an option. Or maybe there is still a placeholder bill out there that they can hijack for a flag change.

THIS may actually get the flag changed. Of course, it can't be just Kylin. It'll have to be a substantial number of MSU and UM players.

If enough players from multiple schools boycott such that games can’t be played. And the universities stand resolved to honor scholarships and support the players in their stance, the flag gets changed.

It will be an even fatter curveball then, Tater!! Swing the damn bat!!!

im not sure football is going to happen anyway....lets make this a huge positive PR thing and have the university say they wont play until the flag is changed. that would be a major statement and take a lot of balls to pull off, plus its the perfect season for it anyway. 2020's football season is going to be an unmitigated disaster. may as well get something positive through all this crap.

Maybe if they were openly vocal about their desire for change and started leading instead of politicking, they would have the votes. They are sitting back scared to death to take a position. If they start leading and pushing and come up all balls, I'll then double down on harassing my legs.

In other words, he wants everyone to think the same way? This is such a stupid answer.

I agree on removing the flag. But memo to Kylin Hill (and you): university leadership has been vocal about wanting change as well, and the flag hasn't flown over the campus for six f'n years now. Punishing Mississippi State, when the university is on your side of the argument and pushing for the same thing, is immature and foolish.

It’s the “give an inch, take a mile” concern. These people feel the change is being made out of spite and not because of genuine offense. They fear what other items will be removed next. And so I don’t get called a racist — I’m in favor of a flag change.

Absolutely. Be the university in our state that makes it happen. I think the players will buy in. Just have Keenum deliver the message that our athletes have elected to proceed with practice and activities assuming the issue is resolved. But unless the current state flag is voted out, Mississippi State athletes won’t be competing on the field come end of August.

Nope. Would be struck by the courts

He can issue an executive order that it not be displayed in government locations. That would probably appease a lot of folks (including the NCAA and SEC folks) and buy Tater time to address changing it.

It makes too much sense to do this, which is probably why he hasn't.

This is the correct answer. And with what's going on in the rest of the nation, how would you convince them otherwise?
