Does Cal eventually deserve a banner in the rafters even if he fails to ever win another title?
So we think everyone else gets up there with one until him? The way you worded that it's as if he has to do more than the others to get the same acknowledgement.Does Cal eventually deserve a banner in the rafters even if he fails to ever win another title?
Honest question. Does Joe B have a banner hanging? So we think everyone else gets up there with one until him? The way you worded that it's as if he has to do more than the others to get the same acknowledgement.
Yup, so does Pitino, and Rupp.Honest question. Does Joe B have a banner hanging?
But Tubby doesn't. Honestly kinda ridiculous.Yup, so does Pitino, and Rupp.
Maybe he should be up there, maybe he shouldn't. I don't think Rick should have his up there in the manner it was put up. Of course Rupp belongs there and I can see the case for Joe B with him being a player-assistant-head coachBut Tubby doesn't. Honestly kinda ridiculous.
Not until he leaves/retiresDoes Cal eventually deserve a banner in the rafters even if he fails to ever win another title?
Sorry if my wording was confusing. Not saying that he should be left out, just wondering if he has done enough to deserve one down the road if he never wins another title. Tubby doesn't have a banner up there yet either. Cal and Tubby pretty much fall into similar accomplishment levels as of now.So we think everyone else gets up there with one until him? That is not a set criteria or Rick Pitino's name wouldn't be hanging there. Not until he leaves/retires
Both Cal and Tubby should be up there. In what kind of world is Rick Pitino in our rafters but Tubby and Cal aren't?
What?? Cal has done more than Pitino did. Four final fours, Runner-up, Title. That’s better than two finals fours, Runner-up, Title. The banner is what the coach did AT UK. Neither Cal or Tubby have matched what Pitino did. if you disagree, explain.

Good reply! I guess part of my reasoning is that Pitino had a probation team for 2 years and did one HECK of a job with those teams and then immediately took us to an E8 after probation. 5 out of 6 years, we finished in the E8 or better. Plus, no NIT or missing the tournament due to a horrible season. Cal deserves some negative points for a few of his coaching years. What?? Cal has done more than Pitino did. LOL Some of you are pretty dense to understand what Pitino did at UK.Pretty stupid post. Please show me how Pitino did more at UK than Cal has
Billy Gillispie is running down the hallway, maybe you can catch him at Porcino's.Good reply! Tubby....one national title, 1 Final Four, 6 sweet sixteens, 4 Elite Eights, 5 SEC reg season titles, 5 SEC tournament titles, Zero NITs, Zero losing seasons.Tubby is not in the same league as Cal. John has four final fours so far to Tubby's one. Honestly Cal has a better resume than any coach at UK except Rupp.
Post of the dayBoth Cal and Tubby should be up there. In what kind of world is Rick Pitino in our rafters but Tubby and Cal aren't?
I am a big Cal supporter but even I have wavered a bit more recently. In all honesty, Cal's losing season and an NIT year does have him slipping in the resume department. Hopefully, he can get us back to some E8's and FF's. If so, those 2 highly disappointing seasons won't mean much.Tubby is not in the same league as Cal. Very true, he wouldn't want the vote to happen anytime soon.I am a big Cal supporter but even I have wavered a bit more recently. Cal has matched Rick, how has he not a Title, a runner up, more FFThe banner is what the coach did AT UK. Neither Cal or Tubby have matched what Pitino did. if you disagree, explain.
9-16 in one season negates everything else he has done?Let Cal win 10 games again in a season and then we can revisit.
Let's get back to winning games again and not being political.
They should. Tubby would have won with class and integrity there just like he did at UK.Would Duke or UNC put a banner up for Tubby? F No.
he definitely deserves a spot in the recruiters Hall of Fame if there is one.9-16 in one season negates everything else he has done?
Yes and the position he now holds at High Point reflects directly on how ambitious he has been since that gifted ‘98 championship. Let’s not play pretend. They should. Tubby would have won with class and integrity there just like he did at UK.
That recruiting Hall of Famer is also in the actual Hall of Fame and is responsible for 4 banners (same as Pitino, more than Hall) that are hanging in RUPP Arena. He's handled himself with class, been a great ambassador for the university, and brought the program back to national relevance. If you don’t want to give him a banner that's fine. However, take down those of Hall and Pitino and never hang a banner for a coach again.he definitely deserves a spot in the recruiters Hall of Fame if there is one.
A 9-16 record was such a glaring spotlight on his inabilities as a coach.
In a perfect world we could have Coach Calipari do the recruiting and then have almost any division one head coach during the actual games.
it’s just a poor predicament unfortunately.
Let's not play pretend 98 was all Pitino's doing, either.Yes and the position he now holds at High Point reflects directly on how ambitious he has been since that gifted ‘98 championship. Let’s not play pretend.
No, one season doesn’t decide his legacy. But he does have some wrongs to right. Plenty here aren’t as enamored with everything Cal says or does anymore. He can now prove last year was an outlier. Last year was a major kick to his ability to have everyone defending him.9-16 in one season negates everything else he has done?
Cal has matched Rick, how has he not a Title, a runner up, more FF
Would Tubby have a title if Pitino didnt hand him a loaded team that just came from back to back title games?Let's not play pretend 98 was all Pitino's doing, either.
