Not at the present. But I have a history of advising those that want to operate their own business and I was qualified to have that business due to a lot of education on the subject. Don't even attempt to act like you can take right wing propaganda and think you have more knowledge than me on the subject. You don't.

Possibly. But that isn't me.

As a hypothetical as it won't happen but I would be willing to bet any amount of money that if I took you and your business as a client, I would be able to make you significantly more profitable with your business and more wealthy as an individual.

As a dentist, you are trained to work on teeth. People without that training and education shouldn't try dentistry. Same with financial professionals. But who am I kidding: your mind is too warped thinking a bunch of crap and you are too closed minded to simply understand.

Nope, we are talking about our tax structure that favors those who don;t pay vs those that do. You know why there all kinds of tax write offs? Consultant, lobbyist, work the Congress, promising money to get their clients ways to write off profit.

Forced savings...

Lov me some Trump
I'm an S corp, Everything passes thru. I have a building that's in an LLC, tht rent my corp pays that corp is income that has to be taxed. Depreciation only writes off a little of the 40,000 per year rent. The reduction to 21% has saved me quite a bit.

Yes, most saw more money in their paychecks starting Feb 2018 due to a change in the IRS tax tables and this led to a turbo boost to the economy in 2018 in the short term. IRS has admitted they screwed up those tables and this issue of withholding too little is going to lead to smaller refunds and in many cases, those used to get a refund will have to pay if they didn't adjust their withholding on a W-4. Fact: Most people (I'm not one) will be paying less if one calculates their Effective Tax Rate after filling out their 1040. Fact: Higher tax brackets will benefit a lot more than the lower tax brackets if one looks at the entire tax paying population. Fact: those with larger families and those living in high tax states have a higher chance of the tax legislation being a tax increase and not a tax cut.
Pretty good synopsis.

Democrat, Republican, fvcking ISIS as far as I’m concerned. If you have ideas to help me increase my earnings? I’m listening. I don’t give a good damn about your personal beliefs, just make me more of that money.

And that is the appropriate perspective one should have. Receiving good financial advice and applying it is very smart. Unfortunately, it is tough to know who to trust as there are a lot of bad advisors and others that are crooks.

Quick story since I'm doing nothing but watching boring golf at the moment, in 2017 my wife and I needed to change directions in one part of our financial planning. Even though she is married to a very knowledgeable person in this area and I have made her rich with not one financial regret in 25 years of marriage, she wouldn't listen to me. So I made an appointment with someone I also have a high level of trust. She did all the talking about the issue and he gave the exact same advice I was giving. The day after the meeting, we made the change. I still chuckle over it.

Point is, good advice and consultation on any topic is invaluable. But it is sometimes hard to apply the advice.

You don't understand economics and terms such as short term.

I do understand that the government rarely gives anything back once it starts taking. It even takes from itself (like BO did from Social Security for the ACA). Rebublican or Democrat, neither has a clue how to manage a budget.

Most citizens probably don't even understand the tariffs are really another defacto tax on me. I'll put up with it for awhile cause something needs to be done to fight China and our "friends" unfair trade practices. To Airport's point, every item that sells with a tariff on it taxes the lower 50%. Every lottery ticket sold to a lower income earner is a voluntary contribution n to the state taxes....

I see these things and think if we actually support things like the green energy agenda or health care for everyone, i'll work for practically nothing. NOT.... Ocasio Cortez says I don't really need to work to have a living so why should I? Why should anyone?

I know but watching Pebble front 9 when I want to see a battle on the closing holes.
They are not going to finish today. I played there in 1990. It was only $150 then and you didn't have to stay at the lodge. I played Spyglass, the pebble and then Olympic Club. I played the old #5 and it was a temporary green. The greens were in terrible shape. Several more could have been temps.

There are 100 million more people than rich people. They need to pay their fair share. That's where the real money is. They've bought them off with promises of refunds for more than they ever pay. No, the reason it is stupid is because stupid people like yourself cannot see what socialism does to a country. People in power pander to them promising them pie in the sky that rich people have enough money to take care of all the welfare, defense, SS and whatever the govt funds. It's not possible and idiots like yourself foster this rich vs poor crap that has ruined this country.

We need to find a way to tax the coyotes in Mexico. With the estimated 42 million people who are planning to come here in the next 10 years, this represents the biggest growth industry in the world. We could build 50 walls and still give Bru a break on his taxes. We just need to identify the coyotes social & W-2.

Not speaking to you but rather the point you made.

You distrust based on whether it is a democratic or Republican plan. That is a preconceived, agenda based position and is not objective by it's very nature. So an honest conclusion is impossible.

We all have opinions on what is "fair" and I'm sure my opinion is different from point above. I don't intend to make this conversation into a debate on "fair" but rather what this tax situation is doing to the public and country.

It's our money Bru! Anything and everything we give them is "fair" because it belongs to us! We give them enough. Refunds are proof of that IMO.

You all should see some of the
Pentagon fencing....

Each individual spike (or post)...is almost like a barbed wire...
At each post tip the metal is bent back as a jagged medieval javelin, of sorts ...

Cheaper
doesn't look that expensive...

If you wish to climb that fence, fine
but you'll probably stab yourself in the hamstring ..

Good luck

As a special inviting option, we should electrify the metal. Touching it in any way activates sensors that send a volt of electrical current coursing through your entire central nervous system directly to the pain centers inside your brain telling you "ouch" let go! Or quite simply if you engage this fence fully, yo' *** is gonna fry and then yo' *** is gonna die!:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

This perfectly explains the Trump policy for reviving our economy! The Government shutdown didn't cause GDP to explode, the tax cuts did. So who's better at spending the money that's being generated by hard working Americans?

Even economically stupid Leftists can answer that. This one sure did in this post.

I'd prefer to leave it at illegally trying to break into the USA. We cut down on that nonsense, Democrats will lose 40% of their vote. Mission accomplished.

My effective tax rate on my gross income stayed the same, as I suspected, since my itemized deductions last year were about double the standard deduction. However, due to the change in withholding, which I wasn’t aware of because it was so small I didn’t notice, I went from owing about $300 last year to owing $2500 this year. F’UCK! F’UCK!

It could be worse. Simply leave your with holding the same and next year you will earn the right to pay a penalty next year.

So the OP (country) complains that the tax cut was so insignificant it wasn't even noticed, yet bitches that the tax bill due this year is 2500.00 despite the fact less was withheld?

Upset with having to pay Uncle Sam more, bitching about the reduced withholding (kept all of it by the way) votes for Leftist politicos who claim we don't pay enough, and expects folks who make the most to send in every extra penny. (no billionaires)

See how life on the Left scrambles your brains, and transforms logical thought processes into incoherent economic schizophrenia?o_O

:)Thanks I think.

I actually have quite a few friends that are left leaning professors from my grad school days in engineering. And I avidly listen to NPR. We go round and round about this all the time... What is missing many times is a civil discussion. My take on things has some worth but my professors positions also have worth. I'll be the first to admit that the ACA had some very good aspects (allowing my kids to stay on my policy till 26 and pre existing conditions). But taxing non ACA participants and adding birth control to my policy was costly & stupid...

Anyway, if folks want to get mad at me, that's fine. I'll still try to hear them out. And I won't call any one bad things on here. BTW, the future of Social Security and Medicare is fragile and my left leaning friend's points about the need for reform are not lost on me. I want those programs to be viable when I retire. This is another reason I worry about open borders. We need to work on those two social programs, help Puerto Rico, and our vets before we bring millions more Guatamalans into the country and prop them up.... Anyway, Time to call it a night.... :flyingwv:

This! IMO it's the main reason we can't find consensus on what is right and what works? This can be known, but partisanship and simple disrespectful discourse prevent serious discussion of workable solutions.
