And for those of us that can do math and used logic, they remained pretty much about the same as last year.

wait, i thought Trump was giving the middleclass a tax break? breaking even isnt a tax break now is it.

Again ...math.....

If they're taking less out of my pay checks and my refund remained the same as last year - did I break even or get ahead?

Lowering tax rates means you don't owe as much to the government. Breaking even means you're still paying a hell of a lot of taxes!

No one who got Trump's tax cut sent it back no matter how small it appeared to be. No one filing for a refund offers to let Uncle Sam keep it no matter how much larger they were expecting it to be.

Didn't read your link, but Trump and the GOP have lost the PR war on this "tax cut".

If these tax cuts are such a waste of time and something no one even notices why aren't the folks complaining about them paying their taxes under the old rates?

As I'm understanding the arguments on the Left they haven't made much of a difference anyway... OK so just pay under the old rates and shut up!

I didn't get a tax cut, did you? And I'll gladly shut up if I can use last years rates and deductions. I love when the rubes wanna argue math, trickle down worked in Kansas unless you do the math, lol.

What's stopping you from paying your taxes under last year's rates? If you had more ductions last year, just pay the extra tax and stop complaining about your smaller refund.

Everyone's situation is different, however most upper-income filers did not receive a cut in marginal rates. There were other advantages under the tax code they were able to take. I claimed as many of those advantages as I was legally allowed. If you didn't it's because you are ignorant of what the law allows you to keep as your own money.

But considering that you are on the Left I am not surprised by that.

....Except for the wealthy getting the biggest breaks......

What do wealthy people need from the government?

Ans: nothing.

Should it be any wonder then why they are so universally hated by swamp dwelling Leviathan loving government leeches and parasites?

Social Contract....look it up.....or move the Hell out of a democracy.....

Does that include 70% of your income after you're a millionaire being confiscated for bureaucrats to give away?

Or more than half of your estate if it's worth over half a million being taxed away when you die (death taxes) instead of you leaving all of it to your aires?

That "social contract"?

How much extra do YOU send in?

We're not a Democracy homo sapien. We're a representative republic and I'll be glad when we vote your debt ridden "Social contract" out of our public policy for representation.

Because you PAID LESS in overall taxes in 2018...

and KEPT MORE of the MONEY YOU EARNED in 2018!

cnn & msnpc sitting in a tree...

making up **** to woo their brain dead followers...

The size of refunds has nothing to do with the amount of taxes paid.

Average working person paid less taxes out of their paychecks every month to the tune of $1200 for the year.

That would depend EXACTLY on your situation and where you live. Not everyone got a tax cut sport but keeping believing what DipShit Donnie tells you don't worry though he and his inbreds got a nice tax cut.

Social Contract......accept or leave. That's how democracies work.....(and Democratic-Republics.......)

The Constitution. That's how a Constitutional Republic works through Democratic representation. That Constitution defines our "Social contract" and specifically limits Government's role & obligations and places ''we the people'' in charge of determining exactly what government does under terms of the "Constitutional contract".

A "Constitutional Republic"...not a "Democracy"...not mob rule......not a "Democratic-Republic" . Plus it's NOT accept or leave! It's govern with the consent of the governed, and if/when they stop listening to us we have the right under our Constitution to remove them....not us!

True actually...not everyone got a tax cut. However among those who did get a tax cut no one sent it back and some of those who kept their crumbs through the year are the same ones now complaining about how small their "refunds" are when those refunds represent how much they still didn't owe even with the tax cuts!

The U.S. is a Representative Republic governed by the Constitution, not a "social (ist) contract"..... accept or leave.

(You also think it's a White racist male dominated Christian Hell hole, so why are you still here? [eyeroll])

The founding fathers drafted the Constitution which sets up how the country is organized. Read it you might learn something.

You would literally be better served arguing with a tomato plant. Godspeed.

All right...why don't you point me to where in the country's "social contract" it calls for 70% confiscatory marginal tax rates?

As usual, your disappearing act answering this question will be like David Copperfield's.

The Founding Fathers also set up a system of taxation that left the decision up to the Congress they created, and we elect, to determine such things......again, if you don't like the social contract then you are welcomed to leave....

I agree with this, that's why we vote through our elected representatives as to what we want the Government to do and how much of our money we will allow them to use doing it.

But that's not "democracy" ....that's informed citizens exercising their role under the Constitution and dictating to the Government through our Representatives what exactly it is we want them to do within proscribed Constitutional limits.

If we're not a representative Republic why do we vote for Representatives? What are they there for and what are they bound by?

We are a Democratic-Republic.........democracy plus republic.......who is arguing we don't have representatives?
