And outside of Malik Newman shocking even our Lord and savior- what could be done to give you a sense of excitement heading into next basketball season.

What happens to Ray if Newman commits to OM?
Nothing. This staff cannot coach, develop, or recruit. I spoke to an exMSU athlete today that said he is done buying basketball tickets until Ray is gone.
if malik is aa good as sliced bread.....he has been calling coach cal and begging for a spot on their bench.

Is this a positive?I keep thinking he will turn a Tom Crean type trend, but we are not Indiana
but as someone who knows an IU fan or 2, please explain what this even means...
Is this a positive?
Are you referring to the guy being discussed here:
Hoosier Sports Live <s>@</s>HoosiersLive <small class="time"> Mar 3 </small> If Crean hasn't completely lost the fan base as we could tell by the empty seats, I can't wait to see the crowd Saturday. It's time.

Could 2nd half vs Iowa decide Crean's future? Loss to Northwestern before, possible losses to MSU and in B1G opener coming. This half. Huge.
Just search his name on Twitter. It's a disaster area.
Outside of Newman signing, nothing. Other than Ready and Houston, I think that everyone on our roster has either already reached his ceiling or has very little upside. Then, next year's class seems like Ray's best on paper, but it's still not one that's going to come in and provide immediate returns. If it does, I'll be very surprised
On top of all that, the fact that we're in year 3 and staring 12-13 total wins in the face is just abysmal. I have seen nothing from a 3 year sample size that leads me to believe that our ceiling next year will be any better than an NIT bid at best. Considering our 12 measly wins so far this season, even that may be a stretch.
Honest question... have we ever had a men's basketball coach go through 3 straight season that were this bad and not get fired?
Crean's first three years at Indiana they were 6-25, 10-21, 12-20. His fourth year they went 27-9 and made the Sweet 16. I believe that's what he was referring to. Of course MSU is not Indiana and Ray can't recruit half as well as Crean so that kind of turnaround is a fantasy.
