I changed the title of the thread to something less douchy.Good article. Asinine thread title.
I enjoyed that article, Thanks for posting it.
They did an interview with him about a year and a half ago - it really did sound like he had learned a lot from his experience at RU and TB. I'll have to see if I can dig that up after the Spring Game.Great story. I sometimes forget that Schiano is still only 50 years old.
His expertise on coaching defense has never been a question. Hopefully he's learned enough over the last few years about delegating authority that will serve him well when he gets his next head coaching job.
When he left I said this is going to hurt us for years because he was "Rutgers football ." He was the juice and attitude we had and needed as we were building something. The haters can deny it all they want but it's the truth . Without him we have had no identity and everything started going downhill from recruiting to a clean program to the way the media views us.Very good article. I am sad that we weren't able to get him back last year.
I also liked how Meyer was very complimentary toward Schiano.. and Schiano of the strength conditioning coach. It is clear the coaches support each other.. and that probably goes down to the players as well.. its that FAMILY thing again. How much better is that compared to the head coach who is afraid his assistant might get too much credit.. insist on a raise or leave....I like hearing Meyer talk about the value of having another HC on his staff. Good parallel hopefully to having Kill on staff now for Ash.

Were you sad when he left at the very last minute and took every legit assistant coach on the staff with him?Very good article. I am sad that we weren't able to get him back last year.

Good point on both. But maybe Rutgers would've been able to get a better coach if Schiano left early enough. That was a later departure than usual and RU didn't really have a choice.Yes.
I was sadder when we hired flood and kept him for four years

If Schiano would be left at a normal time that a football coach usually leaves, Rutgers would've had a hell of a lot more coaches to choose from. Rutgers was actually a good spot for a job at that time. When Schiano left at the last minute in late January of that year, all of the good coaches to hire from were gone, Schiano took all of the better assistants and Rutgers had no choice but to keep Flood.Disagree, there were choices. Flood should have been an interim coach for 2012 and then hired a real coach. Kind of like fickell at Ohio state.
At the very least he should have been fired in 2013 as the train wreck was obvious.

That happened because in a panic move we hired Flood to keep a class together. When he left I said this is going to hurt us for years because he was "Rutgers football ." New HCs even if they were one of the assistants of the previous HC usually will want their own people and let go some of their co-workers to make room for them. Were you sad when he left at the very last minute and took every legit assistant coach on the staff with him?
Of course. At the very least he should've been fired after that Pinstripe loss vs ND. No chance for a suprising season... which it happened. So let's assume you're correct. It doesn't mean you keep the guy for four seasons!

No! No! No! No! No! He couldn't get good/decent coordinators, and, I'll give Franklin credit for doing something GS would never do (could be his biggest stumbling block) - go out and land solid coordinators, and let them do their thing.Very good article. I am sad that we weren't able to get him back last year.
[roll]BTW, that match the hand drill was taught to him by Jerry Sandusky.
