It comes down to asking in the 2 straight loss scenario, will the NCAA do something new by allowing a 1 road win team for the first time (1994 was 2 i believe?). It is only 1 factor of many - i think personally it shouldn't be a be all end all and we still "limp in" but agree with many posters here, win one more to avoid "sweating".

Weve got a big ten tournament to win. If Rutgers plays with this defensive energy and Myles, young and Mathis play like tonight, theres no one we cant beat.

If we are going to the tournament we need to run into it. Its road games from here on out. Play like PSU 2nd half from here on out.

We are an 8 or strong 9 after today. Three straight losses dropped us from that level to an 11/first four in. We’re in. Two losses aren’t dropping us lower than a 10/11. Book it. Bubble has been pretty kind.

Ceiling is a 6 if we get to B1G Finals (and if Myles is back there is a shot). Floor is an 11

Im saying one of the last 9s but I will have full update tomorrow. We are starting to get a reevaluating of conferences like the SEC and Pac 12...they simply are not that good...wins vs lower level of bubble vs these schools are really not that meaningful

Palm will move us to last 4 out, Lunardi has us moving back to bye list, but we should be higher, good lord we just beat #9. 99% of bracketologist will have us in the field. Palm is the holdout

I think this win should be enough, but need to see how everything shakes out. A win at Purdue puts us at possible 8 seed terrirtory

I don't know if Lunardi will take a closer look in the morning and update the bubble but he has us 2 spots above the first 4, so there's only 5 teams in the tournament that are behind us. Based on that I think it's crazy to say we're a lock already.

Palm only starts following after the conference tournaments and Lunardi is contractually obligated by ESPN to spew anti-Rutgers bias until the last possible moment.

I think the "9 line" seems right for us after tonight.

Lunardi may dig deeper, getting out of the last 4 in line is huge though, we pushed Indiana into that grouping, I disagree with him, I think Indy and RU are basically the same right now as 9s and 10s.

also Lunardi will push their property....ACC, Big 12, and AAC....Big 10 is often crapped on. Palm likes to build up SEC and Big 12.

Definitely not a lock. We have one road win and a throwaway win. We can project that two losses still get us in right now but after each of these potential losses, perception changes along with our record, and it gets more doubtful. There are always teams that play themselves onto the bubble during their conference tournaments. Let’s win Saturday and prove we can win on the road. We can’t leave it up to the committee’s judgment.

We’ve proven to the committee we can beat good teams. We pruved this even before tonight’s win.

we have not proven to the committee we can beat solid teams on the road. Hence why I’ve always said the Purdue game is >>>>>>>>important to our Tourny chances.

Fantastic win tonight, no doubt. But Saturday’s game was always the must win

Now that we've won a game (and didn't lose out, as you feared), where's your head at?

Not a lock due to the issue of bid thieves. As long as most conference tourneys go according to seeding, we're in. If there is an inordinate amount of tourney upsets, then we're on the bubble. Probably still in, but we'll be anxious on Selection Sunday.

I think if RU does not win a game, they play in first 4 as the penalty for no road wins

I said the same thing on the Grease Truck Board. Denying us a bid after all we accomplished this year would be criminal. But putting us in the first 4 for our lack of production outside of the RAC is fair if we lose the next two.

great win. I’ve said all along though that we need another AWAY win. I’ve said Purdue is MUCH MUCH more important than Maryland game.

the win last night did give me a ton of confidence that we could win at Purdue. Didn’t think we could a week ago.

We R a lock. Find at difficult to see who behind us is better and can make up so much ground. Guessing NCAA wants Texas for ratings and what not but who else... Purdue making a case I suppose... that's it. Don't see many bid stealers either other than maybe St. Louis which just would only knock an A10 team out.

We R in!

Horrible take, as usual. "MUCH MUCH"??

Purdue is absolutely, 100% not more important than dominating a top ten team start to finish, while leading by 20 for significant portions of the game. The perception of Maryland in CBB is very, very good. That was our best win yet, and it came in the 2nd to last game of the season.

we’ve proven to the committee we can dominate top 15 teams from start to finish well before the Maryland game.

we have not proven to the committee we can win an away gene against decent competition. That’s why it’s much more important. We need to prove something to the committee.

You're just wrong. If you've "proven you can dominate top 15 teams" throughout the season, then you've proven you are an NCAA tournament team. Period full stop.

As to the road, you are focusing too much on the record, and not enough on the incredibly close margin of victory. Any committee member who is overly concerned about our road record will look and see that while we have not one, we have outperformed almost every other team by road margin of victory (loss).

Losses

St Bonnie -6
Pitt -9
#16 Michigan St. -12
#3 Illinois -3
#18 Iowa -5
#25 Michigan -6
#9 Maryland -5
#19 OSU -6
#24 Wisc -8
#20 PSU -1

hopefully we’ll never know whether I was right or wrong because RU wins at Purdue. It’s a prediction. If I’m wrong so be it.

If RU doesn’t, well..sure, hopefully I am wrong!!

Another fascinating Ken Pom stat. We are #304 in luck! Means we are still 19-11 and still one of the most unluckiest teams in the nation. On some level has to help us with the committee.

No way is a B1G team going to be a first 4 play-in team. Going 0-2 would confirm we can't win away form the RAC and drop our scores. RU needs one more win ...or a lot of luck .

Amazing that if a ref called a moving pick on Harrar, or PSU missed the three, or Yeboah hit his last one that night, we are clearly IN and fighting for a 7 seed or higher. But because those things didn't happen, some think we might not deserve a bid. Really?Because of one possession at a top 25 team's house?

I agree with the view that the Purdue game is more important than the Maryland game. If I got to choose which game to win, it would be that. It accomplishes two things:

For one, it eliminates the potential of a two game losing streak prior to Selection Sunday. And winning on the road against a good team.

The Maryland game is/was less important.

FYI you don’t play on the road in the NCAA tournament play at a neutral site.
