I thought farmers woke up to the cock, not the clock?

You do know you don't actually gain daylight, right? Like, it just moves. You know that right? So, maybe wake your azz up a little earlier...or sleep a little later...or whichever one seems to fit your agenda at the time.
Point being, for everyone who wants it in the morning, there's someone else who wants it in the evening. And the issue at hand is, having daylight savings time only makes about 50% of the people happy while making it a beating for about 100% of the people.
Yeah it had nothing to do with farmers and it never made sense to me. Sun up until sundown was the same no matter what time it was
I HATE the hour change...it is so annoying.
And I have never thought "Wow, now I can play golf until 7:15pm" like, how often does that even impact people?
I hope not. The time change is a pain one day once per year and it makes a BUNCH of sense the remaining 364 days.
Don’t believe everything you read. Cows really don’t care. It takes exactly one day for them to adjust.
It’s not a problem. IF the dairyman was really that worried about it, he could change the milking time 15-20 minutes over 4-5 days.
Relieved to see our leaders are focused on the crucial issues of our existence. Personally I like it being dark in the fall when I get off, it's a great excuse to be lazy after all the work of summer is wrapped up. Other than that, IDGAF. Current state of politics:

My dad would disagree with you. Now todays world with mega dairys the cows are a issue because they probably don’t move them very far
Plus, with the mega dairys they probably just have a quick meeting with the cows to let them know that daylight savings is coming up and HR takes care of any issues.
I live in the north and hate daylight savings, particularly during summer nights. There is no good reason to have natural light in the sky at 10:00 pm.
Shifting clock times during the winter doesn't actually do anything -- natural light is natural light, no matter what time the clock says it is. I prefer so-called "extra light" in the morning but others prefer at the end of the day. Six of one; half dozen of the other.
Let's set the clocks and forget them, either on standard or DSL. This shouldn't be hard.

It was dark when the bus came in the mornings anyway in the winter months. DST would make essentially no difference.
So who forced your dad to milk an hour earlier or later with the time change? It was an issue for your dad’s schedule and not the cows. I know way more about the subject than I care to disclose
More daylight activity and less lights on in houses and schools was the theory back in the day. Face it, people whining today about the time change are a bunch of Karens. This is a non-problem. Hell at least half the people whining don’t have to get up for work. It’s comical to listen to all the retired seasoned citizens at my church whine about it. One day per year you can get up an hour earlier.
It doesn't get much better than some afternoon delight though.

first of all it just wasn’t my dad it was most of the dairy farmers back in the day, second of all there are so many day light hours in a day regardless of daylight savings time or standard time it either dark in the morning or dark in the evening. No energy savings
Growing up in the 70's was just the best. Music is one of the many reasons.
3 pm is a little early but by 4 pm it is pretty dark
