Am I the only one who doesn't care that much that Kansas passed us? I mean, don't they have 100 plus more losses than we do, too? Even Dean Smith, when UNC briefly passed us in the early 90s, said that winning percentage was a bigger deal.
But don't we? Three more wins and 100 more losses. How is that something to brag about?Kentucky should hold that title. Most everybody cares.
Nobody pays attention to that and never will. It’s the win total that matters. We know. You know. Nobody is ever gonna brag about the best winning percentage of all-time. Should. Kinda can’t. It’s the total. But don't we? Three more wins and 100 more losses. How is that something to brag about?
150 more losses, and yes, it's a pretty pointless record when teams started in different years. You either need to normalize for games played or just use win percentage, which we still lead it.Am I the only one who doesn't care that much that Kansas passed us? My thing about the winning percentage is this: how often do you really hear people bring it up? It sounds like a fallback option after the numerical win lead was lost. No one used to talk about it until Kansas passed UK, then it was, "Oh, winning percentage is way more important."I'd be willing to bet that the fans who are okay with Calipari right now are mainly the same ones who are okay with Kansas passing us in all-time wins.
They're also the ones who are okay with losing to the likes of Evansville and who push for "only March matters", until we lose to someone in March and then is becomes "the tournament is too random" or "at least we don't have Billy Gillispie anymore."
I bet I could name 25 posters who fit this criteria. Two of them have already posted in the thread. I'm looking forward to the others joining him soon.
Winning percentage falls in line with how Kansas fans have talked about their 20+ years of consistent dominance. It's the same type of nuances argument that only devoted followers of college basketball hone in on.My thing about the winning percentage is this: how often do you really hear people bring it up? It sounds like a fallback option after the numerical win lead was lost. No one used to talk about it until Kansas passed UK, then it was, "Oh, winning percentage is way more important."
And I get that Kansas has more years in history, but the fact that Kentucky overcame that and still had the most wins all-time was a testament to their greatness.
The fact that blue woman likes all your posts is enough for me... lolI'd be willing to bet that the fans who are okay with Calipari right now are mainly the same ones who are okay with Kansas passing us in all-time wins.

The fact that you consistently devolve to ad hominem instead of actual rebuttal is telling. The fact that blue woman likes all your posts is enough for me... lol
The reality is that we're dealing with some members of BBN who actually have very little to no expectation for the program.I read where the day after Kansas passed us, UK took the "all time wins" phrasing from their official account
and then I hear the announcer reference Kansas as the all time wins leader at the end of one of their games
For people to say they don't care or it doesn't matter, or substitute some other stat as more relevant isn't a reflection of what the University prided itself on.
You'd lose all those bets. I was far more ashamed losing at home to Evansville and to Jersey City Community College this March than I am losing the wins lead to Kansas. Michigan and Notre Dame football have the most wins, but no one looks at them as the top football program.I'd be willing to bet that the fans who are okay with Calipari right now are mainly the same ones who are okay with Kansas passing us in all-time wins.

Nope.I have a lifelong friend who is a Tarheels fan. We have gone back and forth for 35 years now. Whenever I tried to use all time wins, he'd say "against who, a bunch of SEC football schools"? What shut him up was our eight titles. Can't fake those. When Carolina passed us in 95 or whatever it was he didn't even care. I agree. It's a meaningless stat especially when you see who programs beat before 1950.
This is so true. Really pisses me off. Biggest douche on this board (KybASSfan) is proof of this. A moron that thinks Triple C is king and talks stupid sh*t to everybody that wants the C man fired. Thanks for the truthThe reality is that we're dealing with some members of BBN who actually have very little to no expectation for the program.
Once we acknowledge that reality, it makes sense that some of them never "get it." The program could go 0-32 one season, and they'd still talk about how it's not as bad as it seems.
Good point, but I'll counter with this...do you know what teams are 1 and 2 in NBA titles? That's right, Lakers and Celtics. Do you know what team has the most overall wins?Other than maybe batting percentage in baseball....no one uses percentage.
All time wins...home runs....scoring....etc.
Anybody know Kareems shooting percentage?

why would we have to choose? You'd lose all those bets. I was far more ashamed losing at home to Evansville and to Jersey City Community College this March than I am losing the wins lead to Kansas. Personally I'd rather win two more titles in the next 10 years and still be second to Kansas than not win any and take back the wins lead.
ThisI care and I want to get back to most all time wins, but in reality win percentage is a much better metric than all time number of wins. Neither are perfect though, because they can't account for the relative level of the competition teams play against. Look at Gonzaga for example. Few has a very high win percentage but they rarely play anyone with a competitive program so it really doesn't tell you much about his coaching ability. Although I care about those statistics from a bragging perspective, in truth they aren't the end all be all. Titles and final four appearances are far more important in my opinion.
Don't so much care about the 3pt thing, but the wins thing is a big deal perception wise...why do you think they announced it for KU at the NC game? This all times wins and the consecutive 3 point basket meant a lot to me.
Except the man in charge...he'd much rather you announce how many oads HE has in the cnba.Kentucky should hold that title. Most everybody cares.
We have played more games but we play in a tougher league. The Big 8/12 has always been among the best.Am I the only one who doesn't care that much that Kansas passed us? I mean, don't they have 100 plus more losses than we do, too? Even Dean Smith, when UNC briefly passed us in the early 90s, said that winning percentage was a bigger deal.
Tubby had more wins at UK than Pitino did. Is that how we should evaluate our coaches?Did they mention Triple C’s winning percentage when he picked up his 800th with this season?
Do they mention coach K’s winning percentage or his total wins?
NO!!!!
Triple C has these people hypnotized and it’s crazy. This is what Cal has done to certain fans.He has made them believe that nothing matters anymore.
