Except I didnt say that...I said the folks who constantly criticize me on here non-stop are "old idiots." And I stand by that...those that blast me consistently aren't exactly the ones that I feel need to have their feelings not hurt in response. Since I don't believe you are one of those, I wasn't putting you in the group.

Quite a long set of comments. Appreciate those of you who have said positive things. Had a great crowd today in Bardstown, including a couple of folks who said they post here.
You said it. Your true feelings come out. Not buying your "apology" as sincere. You were just trying to appease listeners. You take full advantage of UK fans thirst for anything UK. Then bash them like you did the other day if some dare not agree with you.
The thing is that this stuff is free market. People decide what they want. That's the way it is. I prefer others, some prefer yours.
We all know you used others info to get a following and still do imo.

WTF are you talking about?
Your rant was just as idiotic as anything else posted in this thread therefore pot meet kettle. Does that spell it out for you?

Also the vast majority of the post voicing displeasure with what Matt said doesn't fall into the category of haters. He's just being called out for being rude condescending and insulting but I for one do not hate him. Some people may not like his show but you Matt groupies go off on anyone that questions him.
Question for you... is Matt a Rafters hater because of what he said about what some of the members say about him?

You miss the point completely. It has nothing to do with someone simply "having a political opinion". It has to do with that opinion being injected into the website, therefore inflicted on the website viewers. Very much like mainstream media. No one minds that people in the media have political opinions or affiliations, people get upset about it being imposed on them.....see CNN or MSNBC.

Now you are correct in that Coach Cal's political beliefs are different than my own, however, he rarely, if ever, imposes those beliefs on the fans. He remains pretty neutral because he understands that fans have differing views. Bruce Springsteen, on the other hand, has no problem with making his political views known and he's not worried about how it impacts his job.

Let's get something straight here, since my post went over your head. It's not someone simply having an opinion different than my own that is bothersome. It's someone injecting that opinion into the website that I have a problem with. Why do that? What's the point? Just stay neutral and stick to sports. I don't have to watch CNN, I don't have to buy the Boss's albums, and I don't have to listen to your show. Have any political opinion you want, just don't force it on me. I don't like it, therefore I don't frequent site or listen to the show.

Linda Cohn recently discussed how the injection of "politics" at ESPN played a role in their recent troubles. It's real. People don't care that you have an opinion, they just don't want it rammed down their throats.

https://www.google.com/amp/www.medi...says-espns-politics-are-hurting-business/amp/

Thank God there is none of that here.

So you lied and assassinated a man's character? How does I was wrong work?

Jimmy Joe over there is a rapist.

*2 years later*

I was wrong, he is not a rapist. Everyone says incorrect things, I recognized it and corrected it so praise me.

I'd leave the message boards alone and get back to radio where you have stooges you can control that don't have principles.
Maybe one of the dumbest posts ever

Yes I guess that I am old. My first computer was a Commodore 64. But Matt has proven his point. 75% negative and 25% positive. Give or take a few. I choose positive in most all cases.

Just to touch on the part of your post about musician's political views, I really don't get that. The overwhelming majority of musicians, actors, and entertainers in general are liberal. I would have to cut probably 90% of my music collection if I did that. I get it if the person is overly in your face about politics. It can put you off them altogether, but I don't think too many of them do that.

You're right, and they don't. Bruce has been on late night talk shows bashing the other party's leaders. Hell he has a new song out bashing Trump. I love his music, but that's just too much.

You aren't being rude...but you are incorrect. Again that might not be why YOU tune in, but the numbers suggest otherwise. The day we did the movie bracket was our most listened day since the week after the NCAA Tournament....last summer our Restaurant bracket was the 2nd most listened to day of the Summer. Our two most streamed overall weeks last summer...the two political conventions.

Numbers don't lie. Our most listened to shows are during March (obviously basketball) and the Friday before a big football game....besides those, it is the goofy, random stuff. It is how you fill up the rest of the year and thats why we do it. I may be Progressive, but I ain't stupid. I go with what works...and it does
That may be Matt but those same folks in those ratings started listening in the first place because of their love of UK sports and their expectation that this will be the case each week. You pick up a few some outsiders that may nor listen regular times during the special shows but the core is still there because they know it will eventually get back to UK sports and that's the only thing during the day that does that period. You have done a good job making that unique but it's not a hard audience to start building when you center it around UK Athletics. Announce that the show will switch to part time UK sports and mostly other stuff and then take the ratings. There's room for other stuff mixed in and you do a good job of doing that and you can't just do UK all the time, that would get real stale, but let's not kid ourselves....the ratings are almost completely centered around the fact it's a fun UK sports centered show.

How has he proved his point Mike?? Yes he received a negative response to his initial insult to a broad group of people then tried to justify it with no remorse but what else would anyone expect? I actually haven't ever seen or listen to him and I'm one of the most positive posters on here in regards to the Cats and what Cal has accomplished but if you don't think Matt was being a jerk on his show about rafters then followed up with a slap in the face self- righteous thread then I don't know what to tell you.

Matt, if you are still reading this, what was that show you did several years ago? I think it aired late at night and may have been called The Freak. I think I remember Big EZ being on that too. My memory of it is pretty hazy, so maybe you weren't even on it. And then there was that show with Scott Padgett and Dave Ragone. Good times.

This entire statement is me key problem with most of the Matt Jones haters. Here's the deal, when you say "stick to sports", he gets it. Sure, there are people that don't like hearing about politics. (Although, it's moreso that people in this state don't like hearing anything they disagree with like democrats). But he hears you and I doubt he cares much that you say that. But then people take off and start saying he's an idiot, a "libtard" (which is incredibly stupid) or any other insults. They say he doesn't know what he's talking about, so on and so forth.

But here's the deal, YOU DONT PAY HIM TO DO A RADIO SHOW! You can't just tell people what to talk about because you don't like it, WHEN ITS FREE!!! That's not how the world works!!!! If you don't like it, DONT LISTEN!

If someone was giving away free strawberry cupcakes, and you don't like strawberry cupcakes, YOU DONT HAVE TO EAT ONE!!!!! It would be the same if you yelled at the free cupcake lady, told her she was an idiot and a cupcaketard because you don't like strawberrry!!!!!! It really is the same. The radio show is free. Stop torturing yourself if you're so upset over what he says and stop listening. And if you think his sources suck, don't listen to that either. If you think his site sucks, don't get on his site! Nobody owes any of you a *^ thing! Nobody forces you to listen!

It's really that simple. There are tv shows all over tv that I don't care for. You think I'm wasting my energy yelling at the producers, writers and actors because I don't like it? No!! I'd be an insane maniac if I did that and expected a result in my favor. It's so stupid.

Then people say something positive about ksr and idiots say the ol "why dontcha kiss his arse a little more". Grow up. You're basically saying "either insult him and hate him or you're stupid too" which had an effect when I was, I don't know, 8 years old?

Hate to tell you, but ksr is more than "a blog". It's a good show. It's a good website and frankly, Matt says things I'm sure he regrets, but who in the hell has taken Louisville to task like he has? Who? Who has called out forde, and any other idiot like he has? Thamel? Who? So yeah, it's more than a niche. He gets more out of what he does than any other publication and it's not close. He asks questions no one else has the nerve to ask because they're so afraid they'll lose a perk or favor for questioning authority. Yet he'll ask people things and say things regardless of what someone may think of him afterwards. That's respectable, regardless of if you agree with what he said or not.

So yeah, maybe if you think he's sooooo wrong for his post, check out the idiotic statements people have made up and down the page. He proved his point by some of your responses but some of you all are too ignorant to even notice.

OT: If you're not on Matt's payroll you ought to be OR Matt should state: "Thanks Dad"... jmusao...

If I am one of the "old idiots" then so be it. but its better than being a kiss ***. I am talking about the other segment of fans that kiss anyone's *** that they somehow view holier than thou just because they have some sort of tie or contact with the program...hell even mods on here get the *** kiss treatment. Relax, all are human and put their cloths on the same way as you.

The older vs. younger debate kills me. I mean come on, the older you are the wiser you are. You might not care as much anymore about "keeping up" with that latest phone or eating ice chips daily to try and survive 100 years, but the wisdom is unmatched. I'm 31, and the older guys blow my age group (and lower) out of the GD water so far it's unreal. Just look at the young progressive ideological landscape created by your average under 30ish person.....

I don't need to say anything else.

Exactly. Old and angry.

Look, all joking aside, the negativity in here is overwhelming. This is the best message board by far, but the negative people are the loudest and that's unfortunate because we have so much to be proud of.

Anyway, I'm done here. And by the way, thank you for your service. Twenty years is a long time and I have nothing but respect for your sacrifice.

Lol he posts and it's 8 pages. I'll add to it i guess. A. Your post is too long too read, so I have no idea what you said, not trying to read Moby Dick with special addition King James Bible added on rafters.. B. I'm sure there's plenty of posts with ppl fuming just bc you have a free radio show and that infuriates ppl for some reason. They could just not listen. C. I'll assume there's something about politics, Libertarians are the best anyway, so all of you are wrong anyway ;) (someone will probably get triggered from just that)

Matty Mouse is playing the Rafters like a fine piano.

Jones is luring you in, to talk about him in rafters.

Yes, I did that. (comment in his bait thread) What is wrong with me?

PS: I think momma was the inspiration for this thread for the OP. She told him old people are you in the future, if you are lucky.

After this debacle, I'm not sure Jones will post again. He claims to appreciate candid feedback about himself and his show. However, when he receives any commentary that he views as remotely negative his first reaction is to disparage the messenger ("old idiots"). As another poster remarked, Matt Jones is as thin skinned to criticism, even that which is constructive, as Donald Trump.

Hope this thread finds everyone in a chipper mood. I wanted to take a second and write after my comments today about this Board on my radio show. I have always had a terrific love/hate relationship with this message board forum, going back to when it was originally Kentucky Sports Report before the merger (what year was that?). There is zero doubt that without this board and my "Magloire52" days, I would still be a lawyer and having a miserable time with my existence. The message board communities, especially of the old days, were the centerpiece of my UK Fandom and were the original basis for everything UK sports related on the Internet. Those days, ranging from the big online recruitments (Darius Rice anyone?) to the message board feuds were some of my favorite times in the UK online world and I do miss them...which is probably why I still post here from time to time.

Today I said on the radio a few things that I do believe...some positive and some negative. I said this is undoubtedly the biggest UK message board community on the internet. There was a time when there were many such places but that time has passed and honestly this is the last relevant one that exists. I often say that there are really only three sources of relevant UK information...KSR, Cats Illustrated and Twitter. The mainstream media sources can all be found via Twitter and if you read those three places, you know all there is to know. With that said, I do think message boards such as this on average draw an older crowd. While there are some younger people here, an entire generation has grown up having their UK discussions on Twitter and other social media. Some still find their way here, but most of the posters on here (I bet) are 35-40 and over. There are undoubtedly lurkers of all ages, and those that get news from here, but posting on message boards is what most of us do when we are bored at work (as I am now). This is the largest message board community of UK and its not close. But as those of around in the old days can say, message boards as a whole aren't what they once were in terms of traffic. More options now exist, from blogs to social media, that didn't before. The fact that this place has as many people as it does (when message boards of ALL Schools have seen significant drops) is a testament to its success.

My complaint today about "old idiots" on this message board was aimed at a small, but loud segment of folks here...the ones that bash me every single time my name is mentioned. They of course have a right to their opinion but I am constantly amused by the "I DONT LISTEN TO HIM but he is an idiot, blah, blah blah" threads that follow ever time my Beetlejuice is said in the crowd. It is usually followed by how I am liberal (somewhat true, although less than you think), single (true but happily), gay (not true), arrogant (true of most people who believe anyone would care about their opinion about anything), a jerk (hopefully not true, but I do get riled up from time to time) or a dork (undoubtedly true). Those folks bash me all the time but then get royally offended if I say anything about them, usually becoming quite angry in response. I do think those folks are often (or always) "old idiots" who care less about debating a particular point, rather than blasting me personally. Their act amuses me greatly and I have no problem mocking them in return. I only wish that when, as happened today, they begin their outrage, they would at least quote me correctly and in context.

But the VAST majority of the folks on here seem like good people. I read this site almost every day and pick up something from it every time. People like to accuse me or KSR of "stealing information" but that is honestly silly. We all hear the same information and whether people say it or not, we all have sources even if we don't share them. What I do use this forum for is to get a pulse of the fan base....specifically the hardcore, long-time fans who are engaged significantly in the details of the programs and who lean towards the negative side. I think that is a fair description of most (but not all) of the posters here. I use Twitter for the 20-35 year old fan, Snapchat for the 25 and under, Facebook for the 40 and over, my radio show for the broad fan base, the TV show for the Lexington/Lou fan, etc. I have been a part of doing demographic studies of every form of UK media (it was a big investment a couple years back and the resulting numbers have helped fuel how I approach all of my work) and they follow patterns that are fascinating. Each represents a slice of the overall pie. This board is the best to figure out what the hardcore group intimately engaged in every story is thinking. And I use it as such.

Long story short, this is the best place to find out what a segment of the fan base is thinking. That is crucial for my job...I enjoy reading this site and think the folks that run it (Rowland, TJ, etc) do a really good job. The anger and hatred of a few (along with my schedule) make me post less than I used to, but it is part of my daily preparation routine. The fact that there exists a small group of "old idiots" who believe I am the epitome of all thats wrong with the world amuses me, but won't stop my visits.
Everyone has their own comments and opinions in this world Matt. Just be you and all is good...

that's what I've been doing as well - sometimes longer. After the Wisconsin loss in 2015 I stayed away for two weeks.

I self medicated pretty hard after the Wisconsin loss for about a month. I can't remember if I visited the board during that time or not. Haha

Matt Jones is a blow hard. I listened to their show for a time. When he though everyone (mistakenly) cared about his political views I got full of that real quick. I listened to the show for the UK content........not his political views.
I haven't listened for quite some time and have no plans on listening in the future....

I may have accidentally heard his show but I have never listened on purpose. I don't have a Cat in this fight other than if what others state is true he sure never posted what he did with the intent of apologizing for hurting feelings.

Matt Jones lives rent free in so many heads. This is sad.

LOL. Dude went off on a random, unprovoked rant about the 'old idiots' on the board. I'd say we have vacation homes in his head. Single, prematurely balding 40 year old man who snapchats calling posters here old is just too funny.

There are also no laws that say you have to read message board posts. So if they bother you why are you reading them?
