Am I missing something, because it seems as if Campbell, who only has been on the job since early December and took over a program that was in a bit of disarray, is doing a very credible job with recruting so far? Yet, you would think that PSU now is a MAC-level program based on the comments of some.
I agree. He’s already recruiting at Franklin’s level and he doesn’t even know the freaking region yet. I believe at worst case scenario there will be no drop off from the typical 9-4 longterm avg of Franklin with the potential to do better in big games. People don’t understand we are replacing 50 players (plus the graduating players) with the remnants of two different teams and players from outside the program. It is a very tall task and he’s handling it very well thus far.

Agreed. Weird how Franklin averaging the #15 class was apparently elite recruiting while Campbell getting us into the top 15 his first class, after starting from nothing when he got here, is a failure. James Gang saying James Gang things.

Marshal and Rigi are hoping and praying MC fails.. they hate PSU and love BGJ. They both will disappear when things are going well, with an occasional negative post. But they will be posting full force when the first negative happens.

Also, any rational person knows that it's going to take Campbell at least a few seasons to transform the program the way he wants it, and most likely the 2026 PSU team at best will be a borderline playoff team if almost everything goes right; he wasn't going to come in and attract a 1991 caliber recruiting class overnight. However, I'm very pleased with what he's done so far.

I just want to see a tough team both physically and mentally that plays great fundamental football and is tough to beat, and just hope that some things fall their way. If PSU shows this in 2026, then Campbell's succeeding classes should be even better as well as the portal players because he's going to have a lot to sell, especially with the renovated stadium.

This class, FWIW, is tracking to be lower part of the top 25 (current rankings reflect "volume", with PSU having significantly more of their class already "committed")
CJF's recruiting was the same way - a large portion of it committing early, and was usually and often "top 5", until the rest of the programs started to fill out their classes. Everyone ends up with +/- 25 kids - so what matters is the average per kid. CJF would usually have average quality in the 12-18 range, but top 5 early on before things filled out nationwide. Current class is in 25-30 ish range on average quality (actually, just checked after latest commit, and PSU is 24th in average quality), but top 15 due to more early commits - it will, of course, matriculate down as others fill out their classes (depending on how many of the 10 remaining spots attract "blue chip" recruits).

That all said, high school recruiting is much much less important than it used to be.

The ranking could go up considerably based on a qb recruit; recruting rankings often are determined by the addition of a highly touted qb recruit. Even if the rest of your class is loaded with high quality players, your ranking usually won't be high if you don't recruit an elite qb. Hopefully, PSU is about to get somne good news on that front.

There’s a crystal ball out as well for Wood from 247. It seems like it is happening if both services are all-in. The “insiders” (I know, haha) feel he is the better candidate for PSU. I just want one of the two.
I want both so that some can debate them for the next four years. Maybe one can play against lesser competition and one can play against better competition. 🤪

That is my dream as well. I look forward to the future debates. 😀

How did Michigan beat Ohio State in multiple years (2021-2024) with lesser recruiting classes and win three Big 10 championships (2021-2023) and a National Championship? How did Missouri beat Ohio State in 2023? How did Purdue beat them in 2018? How did Iowa beat them in 2017? How did Michigan State beat them in 2013 and 2015? How did Va Tech beat them in 2014? How did Washington beat Oregon in 2023 (twice) and 2022? How did Utah beat Oregon in 2021 (twice)? Nobody is thinking about beating them the majority of the time, just hoping for beating them more than once in 12 years.
If you’re referring to the bowl game with Missouri/Ohio State game Ohio State had numerous starters due to injury or opt out.
