Probably because he should strike while the iron is hot. There is a very real chance that if he stinks it up for a 2nd year, he might go undrafted.

That's why all this is weird, and it's still worth noting that he hasn't fully returned. He teased Duke fans, and I'm inclined to think he DOES come back.. but that's not a forgone conclusion. I'd be very surprised if he doesn't at least try the combine and such.

Um, I know for a fact that Cal has said many times that he sits down with these kids and tells them where they are at and what he feels they should do. Some kids take to his advice and some don't.

I read something where K was going to change up his recruiting, but you know he isn't. He is stuck in the rinse and repeat until he retires and he isn't as good at it as Cal. You saw how they played without just 1 player in Zion. Can you imagine if we had Zion this year after going 30-7 without him? Rat boy is washed up.

He doesn’t do much coaching anymore. He’s at the end and thought he could get all the talent and just roll the ball out. Duke missed a chance to add a couple of more titles. He’s tired. They are done.

K will play a 2-3 zone almost exclusively so he can play Hurt at the 3, Carey at the 4, with Bolden at the 5. Lots of length to shoot over in that zone. Jones and Moore will be very active at the top of the zone. Very disruptive and will get some steals in the passing lanes.

If Bolden leaves (transfers/G-League) or gets relegated to the bench, then they go more traditional with Ellis at the 2 and everyone else playing their natural spots.

Another good team. Lots of experience off the bench. Looks more like a typical Duke team with an experienced PG leading the way.

But not even close to as talented as the last two teams.

If Cal doesn't develop players then why should they come back? You can't have it both ways.... either Cal sucks or he prepares kids for the NBA.

And BTW don't you think a year in the G League or whatever its called, where he kid plays and focuses on basketball only and has no time limits on how much practice and individual training might be better for their development that a 30 game college schedule?

F em! The end is close for the Dookies. How could you be a top talent and see what rat boy dd with all he had and have any confidence in him. ESPN said the might have had the best team ever in college BB and they should have gone out in the 2nd rd. Coach rat is about ready for little rat diapers. Gracie isn't walking through that door. The rat was wrong to chase after Cal because he can't put a young team together like Cal. Imagine if we had only one of their top 3 in Zion. I think we could have gone 40-0. The rat is washed up. I no longer worry about Dook or KU. Hell, I am more worried about the SEC. Even if they get Hurt which they better pray they get another top 20 guy they ain't doing nothing next year. From there I think recruiting will drop off for them and rat boy will retire in the next 2-3 years. Bring in Wojo to finish them off.

Not a huge shock in that he was a late 1st round pick at best. But, I was hoping he didn't want to be the one left out (like Teague/Orton) and would still go.

Probably eliminates them for Hampton unless K can pull nonsense out of his butt again.

Tre Jones will be exposed next year. He only looked as good as he did because of the players around him. He’s ok, good defense but actually fouls a lot. Next year he might not get the benefit.

Hampton won’t be at Duke now. He’s a ball in hands guy, no way it happens.

NBADraft.Net has Jones at #33, Sports Illustrated rated him as the #29 overall prospect, ESPN has him at #26 and the 3rd best PG in the draft.

And as far as value goes to both Duke and Kentucky if they both return next season, they are equal. Seems VERY comparable to me.

At this stage even with his shooting woes, Jones is a better all around PG than Hagans. Hagans has better upside due to his size and athleticism but Jones is a way better decision maker. I’ll be really interested to see what Hagans does now.
