Zag is a big UK fan. Just know your audience.

Secondly, Hampton sounds like a daddy’s boy- we are not going to take a year and sit and learn, we want the ball in our hands, want to go to work.

I guess it is all about Hampton regardless of what is good for the team.

he is a Uconn fan

So, let me get this straight. If Krzhfhgvhfxggcki had Jones’s best interests at heart, he’d tell him to leave but if Cal had Herro’s best interests at heart, he’d tell him to stay.

That’s a bit of a disconnect.

I know this might be a hawt take, but what if both coaches actually care about these kids and try to give them good advice?

Herro should stay another year. So should Hagans. So should Tre Jones. Really, outside of about five guys, Zion, Barrett, Morant (and he’s questionable) and a handful of others, none of these guys are really ready. You think Coby and Nas are ready? Heel no. Cam Reddish looked like trash 95% of the year. He’s not ready for the G League.

But, the NBA recruits on potential. So, yet again we’ll lose all our guys, Cal will rebuild, we’ll get to another Elite 8. The silver lining is that Duke will do the same. Meanwhile, UNCheat will continue to institutionalize guys to stay three or four years. I don’t know how Roy does it.
Roy ain’t got much left after this season ! Bad and White to the NBA! Seven and Maye are seniors

If he is that good, it doesn’t matter how many players are BEHIND you. Hampton wants to play point.

Does he come here with Hagans, Quickly, and Maxey?
Sure it does. Freshman make lots of mistakes and the best motivator is a bench. Having multiple other experienced options on the roster indicates he could have to share more minutes than he prefers.

Not unless we lose Hagans. He is likely Memphis bound if Hagans comes back and neither us or Duke loses anyone to transfer or something.

We’ve had many second round picks, in which they should have returned to school for us but didn’t. What am I missing?
Are you upset because one of their players is returning and ours don’t? I think you have misplaced your displeasure.

Not true this year! UNC is losing White and Little!

Both those guys could still return. Probably not, but they’re not dead locks to leave until after the Combine or when they announce they’re definitely staying in.

^ Our minds have been warped due to the players who leave in the Cal era. Guys who were never projected as first round picks and some who were never expected to be drafted; Briscoe, Harrisons, Wenyen, Humphries, Diallo, Vanderbilt, Dakari, etc.
Wait now. Both twins, Diallo, Vanderbilt (which is a diffferent story, injuries) were first round picks coming out of high school.

Sure have, but Cal didn't push those players out the door. He tells them where they stand and they make their own decisions. Guys like Lamb, Teague and Orton made dumb decisions, but it's on them.

Neither coach should be critisized here. This is a dumb thread.

I'm not sure what you are getting at or what you are missing. It looks like you misunderstood my post .
You do not know with any certainty what is said and to whom.

How could he lose two last second games in back to back elite 8’s with two brand new starting 5’s!!? Gosh, Meanwhile, Cal is owning the Final 4 right now. (Wait didn’t he lose two last second elite 8 games twice in the last 3 years?-well we don’t count chapel hill because of the refs I’ve read it here so it must be true.) #scoreboard

Say the word senior to a Duke and Kentucky fan and they’d probably need a dictionary for clarification..

You can talk about Izzo’s 1-8 or Virginia’s luck and K losing in back to back E8’s but it doesn’t put Kentucky or Cal in the Final 4 since 2015. Constant threads bashing everyone else or trying to highlight everyone else’s “failures” (See multi page Izzo thread) does not put Kentucky or Calipari in the winners circle..

Once again teams full of good upperclassmen have somehow survived the meat grinder of March and are playing in April. Meanwhile, Duke and Kentucky fans are too busy studying the recruiting rankings for another recruiting banner...

Having juniors and seniors who can play is kinda still important in this sport as the Duke/Kentucky model has now peaked and gone into the dust bin...
Just be ready for someone to start putting stats together showing how Duke and UK have actually outperformed all the upperclassmen teams by wining 2 titles with OADs while all the other schools are not winning.

Someone will explain, rationalize this.

How are you a first round pick while still in high school? Who said they were first round picks? Some random guy doing rankings?

Lol Only Duke fans would get Grayson Allen for 4 years after being a 1st rounder as a freshman--and still claim to get a bad shake.

Especially when Duke didn't have an early NBA entrant until when... 2000? K coached for 20 years before he even had to deal with anyone leaving early. I would say that Duke has benefitted the most of any school when it comes to players not leaving school early.

What a moronic post but par for the course from you.

“The only improvement he will make is being a better shooter and decision maker”. Hmmm, seems exactly like the traits that could get him ramped up a notch or two in the craft dontcha think?

If he came back, at no time in his life will he be treated with a greater exposure to individual weight and skill training. He could gain 10 pounds of muscle and learn how to finish in the lane better- not just finesse his shots.

Please find another forum to dumb down.
No. He lacks speed, ability to create his own shot against NBA players, defense. He is not going to improve those skills.

Tre Jones coming back isn't that big of deal for them honestly. He's horrible offensivly and looked far better than he was because of RJ and Zion. His defense is good as long as he can grab and slap. Bolden, DeLaurier, O'Connell and Goldwire are all worthless. If White is hitting 3's and rebounding he can be serviceable. Aside from that they are going to have Carey, Baker, Ellis and Moore, and possibly adding Hurt. What's interesting is that it is more of an actual team than what they had this year, but it is no where near as talented or threatening. Duke will probably take a bit of a step back next year and be in that 10 - 15 rank most of the season. Offensivly they will be pretty good, but defense looks to be a problem.
Duke would have to play .500 ball to be ranked as low as 10-15 in the polls.

What's Jones doing?

Half of you on this board keep telling me about a lost year of earnings and how huge that is!

Doesn't he know he'll miss out on a year of earnings!?!?!?! Surely he doesn't know. Some of you need to go inform him before it's too late!!!!

I mean which NBA Mock Draft board is the most accurate. Herro On some mock draft boards goes at #20 to #40 in the second round on other Mock draft boards. Most of the NBA Scouts have been saying that Herro and Hagans both need another year to work on there game and become stronger before heading to the NBA. We all know before Herro committed to UK he thought he would be here 2 years. Everyone was discussing it that Herro would be a 2 year player at UK. I believe that PJ is headed to the NBA and hiring an agent. I believe the rest of the players test the waters and doesn't hire agents and see what there feedback was during NBA Combine. Then the players and Family sit down with Coach Cal and discuss and then make a decision. Cal last year with Knox and PJ has changed the last couple of years on telling the players how much year 2 at UK would help them in the draft and in the NBA.

When have I ever said UK isn’t/won’t be good?

I don't think I am alone is thinking that you are very negative, especially in game threads, that you take a negative outlook in recruiting, and play up other schools. You might not think you do, but when that is the perception a lot of people get, then there must be something to it. I used to be very negative myself, especially in game threads, but I made a concerted effort to stop. It's not good to be that way, IMO.

Kid could have been a high second round pick this year, risky decision when you factor in that the longer you stay at Dook, the bigger nosedive your draft stock takes ( Marques Bolden, Greg Paulus, Shavlik Randolph, Amile Jefferson ) .I wish Cal would convince Herro to stay but unlike K our coach has his players' best interests at heart.

SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD DECISION BY THE KID.

This is why Duke is the best and coach K is the greatest ever. It's all about College Basketball and these kids are seeing it and is why the best is going to Duke.

Mean while K will smack Cal around sayin fool you look out for the players I look out for MY program.
Some posts just really reveal the lack of intelligence of it's originator very plainly.

Tre never looked close to a first rounder to me. Great defender but small, average athlete and terrible shooter. If Ulis cant make it there's no way he can

The same random guys that decide who are 5 star recruits that we all dawn over. The same scouts that are looking at college players during the year and hs players at ASU events. The same recruiters that drool over every dribble a player makes.

Figures you'd come by and enlighten us all. Seems having all that talent would have at least gotten them to the FF since your coach is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Why did your coach change his philosophy if the other way works so much better?
We all know why. Same reason he does everything else he's been doing lately, he's desperate to keep up with Cal and UK.

Herro HAS to leave. The longer he stays the more the game will poke holes in him.

The only improvement he will make by staying is being a better shooter and decision maker.

He will not improve his speed, jumping, or ability to finish in the lane. Staying longer will not help him.
Kinda like how what happened to PJ...
Herro can improve his stamina, his range, his decision making, play making, lateral quivkness, work on his first step...
He is the type of player that you find a hole, he will fix it. Asinine to think returning will be a negative..that thinking is what destroyed college basketball

Soo.. It appears this is still not definite. Jones has not publicly, or even non-publicly, said he'd return. Very odd that he posts this saying "year 2" and not come out with it. I don't think he'd troll the fans.. But still weird.

Either way, not a definite he's coming back..

I think they changed the rules. You can hire an agent and come back as long as the agent doesn't give you some sort of stipend. I think agents can pay your costs for draft workouts too.

Thought they had to be seniors or domething
Edit..just read that only thing is agents have to be certified by ncaa, can only setup mtg and workouts for pro teams...still unsure bout autograph tours etc...

Tre Jones will be a below average nba point guard...why would he go pro? He would be going late second round at best and probably go straight to d league.
