So you agree with me on Reddish. Great. Makes you wonder why even dispute the point to start.
Duke is better this year because they have a true pg, their wings can get their shot whenever they want as opposed to being fed, and this team can guard and actually play m2m while switching everything like K likes.
Now does that mean they’ll win it all? Nah. But they have as good a shot as anyone.
Lol, what?
First off, when did I disagree with you or dispute the point?
Duval was about as true a point guard as it gets he just sucked as a shooter. Had great speed, court awareness and vision. Not to mention he looked to pass first and score second. Btw, Grayson Allen could play point any time needed. He did it several times over three years and generated some nice numbers doing it. Also, Allen and Trent Jr. Could create for themselves without much issue. Bagley and Carter needed some help being fed down low, but both were also comfortable handling the ball and driving the lane at times.
I'm not really sure where you think this team will be better from that aspect. Jones, while a true pg, looks to score first and pass second. That can be adjusted, but takes time. Barrett, as demonstrated in the first game, is not a solid setup man and is prone to turnovers at a high clip. He also plays 1 on 1 too much and takes a lot of ill-advised shots. Zion can handle the ball, but it remains to be seen how he does against real competition. I think longer players are going to bother him some. Reddish can handle the ball, setup for himself and others, but he likes to shoot a good deal too. Will be interesting to see how that shakes out. He also seems to lack a solid motor and gets passive.
In reality, you all need all 4 of your main guys (all freshman btw) to avg at least 15 pts a game and hope you can scrounge together 15 - 20 from the rest of the team per game. Even at that, you would only avg around 80 pts a game, which is quite a bit less than your team last year. Personally, I just don't see how this works out well for you all. Against crap teams you'll be fine, but any team with a good defense or depth should be able to have success against you all.
You'll face a lot of zone and teams are going to make you all beat them with long 2's and 3's. Again, you lack shooters to be able to do this consistently. Teams also know they can foul you more because you don't seem to have a lot of good ft shooters either.
