Considering the quality of product we've seen over the years, we're lucky the place isn't being named Big Lots Field or Dollar General Field.

This new one at Rupp this year jumped out at me.
[sick][sick]

Figured it was some shack in Mt. Sterling, but looked it up and it's a large regional chain from PA (IIRC).

Thankful that we're not Ollie's Bargain Outlet Field, I guess.

Willy what's the future for the 4Runner? There were rumblings of it going away, which I can't imagine, but with Toyota overhauling their manufacturing, I'm worried they will update it to something not good. People are still pissed about the Tacomas. If they bring the 4Runner plants to US or something, hell, might as well buy a Highlander.

Tubby hasn't been to the Sweet 16 since 2005.

Take it to the house, Orlando. You've had a great career, but it's over.
Dude's making $3 million a year to be a pretty god human and an awful coach. Why the hell would he walk away from that?

Hold the door open for women and children, return someone's wallet, give the cashier back the extra fiver she gave you by mistake, get boatraced by Houston in March. Rinse, Repeat, add to fabulous wealth

This and Window World make me gag.

Its will always be CWS to me.. Not sure why it wasn't called CS but I'll forgive whoever game up with CWS and will continue to use it.

They are trying to charge me for sq footage as if it were a deck instead of a pergola.

I have a nice stone patio. I want the pergola to cover it.

Basically, 28x14' plus a 4x14' portion where the walkout is next to the house and a 6x14' rounded addition to match the patio. Will probably only need 4 posts. 6 at the most.

Cedar or redwood would be ideal.

Email me at [email protected], and I'll see if I can get someone on it a lot cheaper than that. Shouldn't be too hard.

I will tell you Cedar is ridiculously high right now.

--- I mentioned this thread on the air today and had 4 people ask me how they could find it. I told them to Google it

--- Interesting subplot to next year...UK has no games scheduled yet besides Harvard and the big ones. Calipari wants to wait and see what the roster looks like and it is causing the pickings to be thin. Be interesting to see who we end up with outside the two Classics and UL

--- Ask people around UK about what Diallo is going to do and you get wildly different answers. Some are certain he is coming back and some the exact opposite. I still think those in the know suggest the former, rather than the latter but it is a mystery. Combined with the unknown state of Bamba, Knox and Johnson, I don't think I have ever seen a time where the UK folks are less sure about what next season will look like.

--- Football coaches are crazy confident about next year...they really believe it can be special and their confidence is contagious. I am a UK Football pessimist by nature but I will probably be "All In" by season kickoff

--- JMI had to sell these naming rights...they are taking a bath on this deal from all I have heard. This will help but they overpaid by a lot

Finally, a question from a long-time lurker. Just an observation, but it seems like the randomness of debating silly topics occurs less and the general cynicism/anger here is greater. Is that true or am I reading it wrong? Does it come with kids, creeping towards 40 (which I am dreading) or what? Just curious

Absolutely the case. Was just talking to Clark about it. SAE has a great cynicism style but for some reason we've had a recent wave of people that try way too hard be him. True randoms almost never get posted anymore. IMO, that part sucks. A few of the old timers still try to drop actual randoms but the rest... not so much.

Also, hoards of creepy lurkers and everyone getting older and more serious about life.

That Calkins column absolutely nailed it. Good man, excellent coach, lazy recruiter. When your recruiters are Joe Esposito(who?), Pooh Williamson(who had a reputation as a recruiter 15 years ago but has done absolutely zero since then to back that up), and freaking Saul, you're bound for mediocrity.

The video at the end of that page was telling, too. Tubby sitting at a table, behind him a framed picture just sitting on the floor because he hasn't bothered to have someone hang pictures in his office a year later, fumbling over himself trying to sell his uninspiring incoming class and being a bit dismissive about the fact that his top 3 players all decided to pack up and leave town(yes, the Lawsons are headcases, but still).

And it's not like Tubby's coaching in the Big South, where his rep alone and 1-2 good players can turn it around quickly. Add Greg Marshall to the list of guys who will cut your throat in that league, both on the court and on the recruiting trail. Kelvin Sampson, Mick Cronin, those guys don't play when it comes to getting players, and they won't be outclassed with x's and o's, either. And SMU probably isn't going away anytime soon either, as long as Jankovic can get guys.

Meanwhile, Cal has it rolling, Pastner overachieved in his first year at GT, your league just got tougher, and the top prospects in the city are complaining that they barely hear from your head coach and his ace recruiting staff. We always assume that coaches get three years to get the job done, but I think it's probably 70/30 that he gets that chance. If he'd overhauled his staff, brought Penny into the fold, SOMETHING to get locals excited, that would've made all the difference in the world. But nope, he stuck with SaulJirsaFinneyFeltonHobbsEspositoPoohRigot, and things aren't getting any better.

As odd as it sounds, the thread got much more angry, when some of the older posters got nicer. At one time, a lot of the current posters who are absolutely awful, wouldve been tormented early on until they left. Guys like AGS, Tommy during his undergrad years, and coolcat as a newly minted attorney were ruthless but it kept some sort of order.

Now, this thread mirrors the rest of the world. Find something to get mad about and die on that hill.

Also, the randoms used to be hilarious real world accounts of a younger generation. People's lives just arent as exciting anymore. My weekends have gone from being assaulted with a bucket of chicken in Tuscaloosa, to DIY projects. Guys like Willy used have road trip stories, now he insists on talking about this stupid gazebo he's building next to his koi pond.

Life took a dark turn for all of us.

The only way the 4Runner would go away is if Trump places a huge tariff on goods made in Japan, since that is where the 4Runner is still built. There are not currently any plans to do away with it. With its heritage, even a tariff might just force them to build it in the USA. They used to be built off of Tacoma frames, anyway. They could do it again.

Who is pissed about Tacomas? There are absolutely crushing it right now. In fact, they just had to expand their production facility in San Antonio to keep up with demand.

All that makes sense. I wish I had a forum like this that I could utilize with my friends but to be fair, as they are all married and with kids, it might be fairly boring as well. I still have bizarre stuff happen to me and great stories that I cant share on radio. My life is actually more fun now that it was when I was younger, but the tradeoff will be when I die old and alone. So it all evens out

Meh, it's still fairly easy to combine 3-4 random musings about life and see which ones take off that day. 75% of the people in thread just don't ever do it.

I was trying to figure out how to spell it out, but I also think the success of UK basketball has had a negative impact to some degree, on fans mentality. After a few years in the gutter, once we got back to being a national power, the expectations became unrealistic. You hear more complaining from everyone now (maybe self included) than we probably did during the dark years.

That mentality spreads to other sports within the program, too. Reading this or almost any message board, you'd hardly know that as an entire athletic department- they are doing pretty damn good. I know its fun to mock Barnhart and he's fumbled some decisions, but he's been the AD during the biggest growth period of the department and the University. It took me hearing other AD's praise him before I think it really clicked with me how well he's done.

Willy a long time friend of mine said he would be interested but he Is slammed right now. Even though it sounds like someone priced it high because they don't want the job, he couldn't be for sure until he knows how much of that was for material.

I'll get you better pricing so that should help too.

-Enjoyed posting the occasional random but most of my stories involved my job and stupid northerner neighbors. It was much easier to ensure confidentiality when there was no way anyone reading this thread would know who/what I was talking about. There are way too many lurkers for me to post what I'd like to post.

-I recently downloaded the Nextdoor app. It's like having 100 Grandpa Simpsons at the touch of a button.

-"When are you having kids???" x10 every day. Assume that will continue to escalate forever. 'Til insemination!

-4Runner hit 230k miles last month. Other than foam spilling out of the driver's side seat, have never had a major problem with it. 96-98 models FTW.

That is true, been a revival of the Tacoma. Though, Taco purists are pissed about the more eco conscience powertrain and how it performs, or doesn't.

I feel like they'll give the 4Runner the same treatment, and they will likely sell more of those too with some more "modern" features. Though, the 5th gen has steadily increased sales over the years.

Thank god the 4Runner wasn't built on those POS Tacoma frames that cost toyota billions in recalls.

^thas what I'm afraid of. Well, not rusted out frames specifically, as I don't think Toyota will allow something like that to happen again, but if the 4Runner is no longer made in the single greatest manufacturing plant in the world, it's going to take a quality hit...but it could still sell more, I guess.

Actually, Toyota is expanding the Baja, MX plant to keep up w/ Tacoma demand. TX is maxed out and will make significantly less in the next couple years... my guess is that if gas stays low the Tundra will continue to be hot.

The new Tacoma is pretty GD sweet. Unfortunately, they are pushing $40K for the nicest ones these days. Double Cab 4x4 Short Bed TRD Sport or Off-Road package is still about $37K.

But the re-sale value is unreal. Better than Wranglers now.

Approx 534 sq ft.

My online research suggested 5-8k as well. I just can't find a builder who will do it for that yet.

I'm also going to probably install an Infinity Canopy system with it for another 1.5 - 2 grand.

When your wife has had about a dozen basil cells cut off of her due to sun exposure, you do what it takes to provide some shade for her and the kids.

I'm not sure I ever qualified as a regular, but the same issue stops me. There are (relatively) entertaining things that happen (on occasion), but it's also fairly easy to figure out where I work, and I'd rather not be the next "random person got mad about something I posted and tried to get me fired" story.

BUT ... Bill Murray did hang out in our office for awhile today. So there's that.

:::Cue 19 consecutive posts debating the finer points of constructing gazebos and the production of Japanese SUV's:::

By all means, please get back to reporting what writers are bitching about today. Or maybe posting something even more interesting, if that is possible. Nobody is stopping you.

OK real talk, I'm Bill Murray and I don't like you spreading my business all over the Kentucky sports themed internet. You're fired.
