it was a topic on pti, with both Tony and Jay Williams saying he should do it.
I think theyre nuts… But that would be one hell of a coup! .

Pti is reading IU boards. Donovan will not go to Indiana.
Donovan was asked directly about the IU job and (as you might expect)he denied any interest in the job what so ever. Many pro coaches feel that a high profile college job is more demanding than a pro job because of all the demands in the college game besides merely coaching basketball. i.e. no recruiting, no college financial contributors, little smoozing required etc.. I have heard more than one coach with pro and college experiences indicate that they liked the pro coaching lifestyle better than college.

Donovan is making 6M a year and has a winning record. OKC may lose him but to a better franchise, not IU. Matching his pay would almost double what they paid CTC and is a couple M more than the highest paid coach in the B1G. There is no way that's happening.

To be honest it wouldn't surprise me if Donavon went to coach IU, with that being said no one really knows.

Yeah, and I'm sure his wife would love the Bloomington winters. Oklahoma City is bad enough but that part of Indiana is worse.

Alford is not happening. I assure you.

And as far as money goes we will easily give Donovan as much if not more than Cal makes.

He left Florida because of having to recruit against Cal as one reason.. At IU,, he'd have Cal and Rick within a couple so hours from him.. Dont see him doing it.. Cal would still steal any good Indiana recruits in the state..

Would be interesting if he did win the title at UCLA and leave for Indiana. I don't remember anyone ever doing that.

I just don't see any good reason that Donovan would go to IU or any college right now.

Not at all, he's irrelevant in the NBA. Russell Westbrook runs the Thunder, not Billy Donovan.

Donavon is one of the best coaches in the business, I really didn't blame him for leaving Florida, football school nothing more. If I was a basketball coach and one of the best in the business, I would want to coach somewhere I'm appreciated and followed by my fan base, also give me break, how in the hell can you say the guy is irrelevant in the league.

I think it's simple. If Donovan wants to do it, it's his for the taking. If he balks, it's Alford's, Marshall's or Miller's. You'll know if Donovan is thinking about it once UCLA loses. If he hasn't told them he's seriously interested, IU offers Alford to save face. He's the guy we wanted all along.

I wouldn't say football only, but basketball is definitely ho hum to the average Florida fan. Went to see the Gators play their first round game at a bar in Daytona, there wasn't a single UF fan there.

Donovan will go to an NBA contender before back to college

he'd be worth every penny, but i'm with you. they can't attract him to what is an infinitely worse position, even if they increased his pay to $8M a year.

Indiana now is like UK was in 2009. Cal realized we were a sleeping giant and took it "because it's Kentucky". Indiana eats, sleeps and poops basketball. The right guy has the potential to have Cal-like success for the next eight years.
