Eh if Fox and Briscoe ( either ) were on the floor the last 3 minutes we go in with a 8 pt lead or so . Also Bama is doing what we thought bama would do . We just started off lackadasical ( mostly Willis) and they got a lead but since WG was put in for Willis and the D increased we have out played them by a good amount. Bama is a decent team but we will pull away like we usually do just gotta keep briscoe and Fox on the floor ( at least one at all times) .

Just an embarrassingly horrible 1st half. This is exactly why so many UK fans, rival fans, and college basketball/sports fans in general are very skeptical of this team..if they play a half like that in the NCAA Tournament, it's a wrap for them. Monk has 13 but is still shooting like crap overall. Mulder doesn't even glance at the shot clock on the violation. Willis is either really good or really bad..today he has been really bad. Briscoe did nothing. Fox and Bam are the only reason we are still clinging to a lead.

What I wanted to see before the NCAA's was a game where the team just dominates on offense. Makes shots, moves the ball, gets out in transition. Would be nice to know the team is still capable of playing in the 90's and 100's like they showed early in the season.

Instead, every game is a grinder. And in a grinder game against a team with talent that is close, I don't like our chances.

We play anything remotely like this in the tournament and we are going home.
It's happened a lot lately, actually. I would like to believe the team is getting better, but then we have games like this. The D is better from a hustle standpoint, but we still can't guard the pick and roll. Willis and Bam get caught on guard and and their man waltzes wide open to the rim. They should not SWITCH. Hedge out and recover, but the guards have to fight over the top of those picks, and that's not happening today, for whatever reason. And on offense, we're still playing AAU style.

Awful awful half of basketball. Who was the idiot that suggested playing mulder and monk at the same time?? We lost a ten point lead because of it.
Um, if a fan on a message board from his couch said to play those two together, but Cal did it, how is it that couch guy's fault?

Bam 2-2...we don't look for him enough in this one. They front him we glance, not open then never look again or let him work to get open. too late wild shot coming from somewhere from us.

Not patient enough. Poor ball movement the first half.

-5 off rebounds, 10 TOs, 7 missed FTs, Willis/Briscoe 2 pts combined. Other than that a pretty good half. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

We've been a 2nd half team all year, I'm not concerned. But we can't do this against better teams, we will lose.

First thing I do is light in to Willis's *** some on the team are playing hard and some aren't. Mulder has got to know when the crowd gets loud you are running out of time, know where you are and how much time is on the clock at all time.

Alabama is dogshit. lol at us being a 1 seed

Kansas is supposedly a 1 seed and lost to an 18-14 team. Bama playing over their heads at times, but most issues are our own issues and not forced by Bama. We clean up the unforced turnovers and make free throws and we blow this game open.

The word is out on our pick and roll defense. Look to see it a lot from other teams that have the personnel to run it.

Bama is 157th in the country in offense. UK is a terrible match-up given how great UK looked offensively earlier in the season. Instead of come out and try to run them out of the gym, UK gets into a grinder game in the 50's and 60's against them. If the Cats just go and score 80 on them, they literally can't score that many.

Kansas lost.
UCLA lost.
UNC lost.
Villanova should've lost.

The rest of 1 and 2 seeds all pulled out small margin victories. UK shouldn't be held to a different standard. It's March, the majority of games will be dogfights.

I don't believe they can do that any longer.
This is how Cal wants them.

Duke struggled against Clemson or whoever, then beats UNC. It's the nature of this game and this year that there just aren't any dominant teams or sure things.

We haven't been putting up big scoring numbers for a while
