And Sunday is the worst. I never drink then. I know some people can do the "one or two beers" thing, but not me. What's the point of drinking if you have no chance of getting drunk? (I NEED HELP.)

I've shared that view point for years and have been chided for it.

I will grab an OF or craftie on occasion on a Wednesday night or Friday night nowadays.

Saturday night went to Nick Ryan's. It was ok, big step down from Tony's the night before. Then hit up that Amy Schumer show at Rupp. It was pretty good, honestly thought the opener was better tho...

Lex GEL was a blast last night. 3 on 3 was way more fun. Was actually a pretty good matchup. JR and Mike were bombing the first few games, we jumped up 3-1 against Geese, Fields, and UK guy. Joshy was a bit upset we were tearing them up with some classic Dribble drive. But then our team starting getting cold. Geese started finding his shot, ended up losing the series 4-3. Little sore this morning, but much better after a nice morning coffee in the bubbly.

Does Louisville even exist?

In the NE, hardcore NFL fan is urban/suburban redneck/trash. Ugly SEC football fan has nothing on Giants/Eagles fan. Basically just horrible people, who certainly aren't concerned with how productive they are on Mondays.

Before marriage, I had both UK and Bengals season tix. I also tended bar on Friday nights.

So when they both had a home game, my weekends were ridiculous.

FRI - Work real job from 8:30-5:00.

Work at the bar from 6:00-2am. Usually later.

SAT - Drive down to the Purple Lot to do it up pre and post game at the Extravaganza. Hit up Lex for a while. Crash at Casa La Schem.

SUN - Get up and drive straight to parking spot in Lot A at Paul Brown Stadium. Big *** Tailgate.

After Bengals game, go to Head First.

It was rough, but I enjoyed the touch out of it.

Throw in those rare November UK basketball/football double headers and it was even crazier.

Marriage probably saved my life. Or at least my liver.

- Happy Derby Week, Kentucky.

You can sense the buzz building throughout the week as we get closer to Saturday.

Going Wednesday mng to the backside to watch the horses workout. 6:30 am. Haven't done this in a few years but it's really cool. Media tents, radio row, owners, jockeys, trainers, etc. Gonna grab a greasy breakfast in the Track Kitchen.

Have a box for Oaks with 2 other couples. .Need to pick up a pink tie I suppose.

May go to the backside on Saturday but thinking about hitting up a Derby party during the day instead. P Club party on Derby night with some 80's cover band, Radiotronic. Typically go the distance on this night. Band will quit playing around 1:00 and then the last two years we've somehow made it to Proof for a nightcap. Interesting mix in that joint on Derby night.

- Drink Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Only a few crafties on Thursday then depending on what's going on Friday and Sat affects the intake.

Do maybe 1-2 Sunday Fundays a year. Usually in the summer and around a pool.

2 years ago I hit up my first NFL game at Paul Brown for the Bengals vs Titans. Drank on the way up, tailgated, during the game and some on the way home.

Woke up that night over and over with cold/hot sweats. Couldn't sleep and felt like anxiety ridden death the next day. Don't see how NFL fan does this 8 times a fall.

Want to get some GET WELL thoughts to Cricket for dropping a 2-liter of Coke on his little toe, BTW. Hope to see you back out there soon, doggie.

And B-Rax was another no-show after talking a big game last week of getting back into cardio or some ****. What a weird, weird guy.

Some lurker chimed in to the GEL email thread I have never heard of inviting folks out to Andover for some golf. Show yourself.

Speaking of, WildcatAdam declared his GOLF >>>> BASKETBALL allegiance so he's out until it cools down. OK, guy.

San Diego is officially my new favorite city. Just perfect in about every way.

Last Friday-Sunday crushed SD, drove to LA Monday to stay with a friend for a few days. Whether I'm just in better shape, don't drink **** liquor anymore, or some other unknown reason, my hangovers have significantly improved over the years. Howeva, had my first legit 48 hour hangover Monday and Tuesday. Thank the good Lord that we scrapped our LA-SF drive in favor of just relaxing in LA.

LA was pretty underwhelming. I mean it was nice and all, but the traffic, weirdos made it tough to compare to SD. Manhattan Beach area was incredible though.

Cancun all-inclusive Wednesday til this morning. Wife was in wedding, made a bunch of new friends. Complete blast. Liver may not make it.

We recruited a 7'3" NBA player to play pool volleyball with us. Him at the next was hilarious. And he was an awesome sport. Hopefully video surfaces.

Travel day. Feel pretty close to death. Can't wait to start my chronic pain rotation tomorrow.

It's not just that golf >> basketball (which; for me, it is). It's that if I tell the wife I'm heading out at 6:30/7:00 on Sunday, *after* golfing and being busy with yard work, etc. (when she needs family or "us" time) it becomes more trouble than it's worth.

*Gambol: I've had two levels of friends and family that get into gambol. The 1st, which most of us fall in that put $20-$50 on the occasional football or basketball game, and enjoy a quarterly trip to a casino. These guys may play a bi-monthly poker game with friends. Usually everyone ends up on the losing end, but nobody gets hurt too bad.

The 2nd, started out like the first, but minor success prompted them to upping their bets and the frequency in which they operate. It would grow into lying to themselves and spouses about their wins and losses and ultimately chasing small losses that led to bigger losses. Its much more a self control and honesty thing than it is a gambling thing. It's tough to go back to making small bets once you hit a certain level.

It's not the norm but i've seen it cause divorce, a good buddy's dad cashed in his entire retirement to bail his son out of a tough hole he dug himself, and i've seen a friend battle depression and suicide attempts after the realization of a what kind of running tab he'd rang up.

Once I got married and took over both of our finances, I quit even making the occasional CFB Saturday bets.

*NFL games are weird to me since i'm not a die-hard. But i've had a blast at the few ive been too. A few Bengals games, a rand Lions game in Detroit (WTF?) and I went to a Titans game bc we got free tickets for test driving a Tahoe last year.

*Pearl Jam: Live on Two Legs playing right now. My tickets to their show at Fenway that my sister got me... happens to be the same day as my graduation commencement. I don't necessarily want to sit through it but my parents want to come down for it, and I missed my Masters commencement bc it was the Sunday after Derby and I had lost my car somewhere on Baxter Avenue and didnt find it in time to get back to Lexington.

*Helped my wifes grandmother move in to her little apartment over the weekend. Her husband passed away a year ago and she was struggling living in their house without him. They are both 90 and were married at 17. Got pretty disgusted at her children basically discussing which of her belongings they would be taking. I mean, this lady is still alive... what the hell? Is it normal to fight over a rocking chair or a quilt?

*Final interview (#5) tomorrow afternoon. From 90 applicants down to me and another dude... if this doesnt work out, maybe I will go into full-time gambol mode.

*Coffee shops in college towns during finals week :eyes:

If you want to say something to bbdk, just say it. Jeez . . .

c_b, if your hangovers are better than they were years ago, there's really only one explanation - you are drinking less. No Benjamin Button **** when it comes to hangovers. Well, there is one other - you are drinking much higher quality booze, that could lessen hangovers.

My drinking window is from 5:00 Friday until about midnight Saturday. I don't touch a drop the other 137 hours of the week.

I'm off Monday, I'm drinking Sunday, but I have to maintain this schedule as well.

I know some people can do the "one or two beers" thing, but not me. What's the point of drinking if you have no chance of getting drunk? (I NEED HELP.)

Never fails...those one or two will be the best ever, I'll get half bagged, and wind up wanting to kill everybody the next day.

Oh, and Black Mike's baby. [laughing]

-I chip and putt a few times per week in the summer at Sun Valley during lunch. Actually a pretty big/decent putting green. I've walked the front a few times, but never the back. Looks like a few cool holes back there from the road...but it's a Dixie Hwy public/park course, what do you expect?

Was our home course in HS at PRP, back nine crushes the front nine. Water comes into play on almost every hole and the design is much nicer and newer.

My dad asked us all what we wanted. Pretty sure I'm the only one who said, "Whatever you want me to have." He told me he wanted me to have his grandfather clock and a small table. My sister then broke the clock after he died before I could get it. :weary:

So get it fixed. I realize there aren't a lot of clock repair shops around but we are out there. Depending on what she did shouldn't cost more than say 200.00.

Paid $400 already to get it running. Worked for about a month. Guy said if it needed more work, that might run over $1,000 to replace the whole mechanism.

That logo is horrible, has been horrible, and will be horrible going forward. And it will look even worse with your POW looking arms sticking out of it. Your best bet is to go 2XL hoodie for extreme cover.

I usually go to 1-2 Bengals games a year and you definitely notice the folks, like me, who have to work the next day so keep it together during/after the game and go right home after the game. Then there's the people who don't look like they could afford it but manage to double fist stadium beers through all four quarters then pile into In Between, Holy Grail, etc. after the game. I couldn't do that. If you take it easy during the game you can still get home, have the late afternoon/night games on and wake up OK the next day.

The MNF and SNF games are different animals. Those are generally shitshows all around. I always wonder how many people roll up to Kroger, P&G, Great American, etc. after one of those games and find their parking spot still occupied with a car left over from the night before. I'll bet all of downtown smells like college morning after funk after those games.

Ideally though- on the couch or with some friends, have a few crafties and check in on CatsPaw to tell BBdK to get pumped. That's a good Sunday imo.

The design is awful. Multiple holes forcing the average golfer to hit three wood or an iron off the tee on par 4's & 5's.

I will say back in the day it was in great shape, however currently it looks and plays a step up from Farnsley.

I thought Cawood posting a picture of wack gear and then sarcastically saying he bought it was kind of his shtick, right?

- Went out to the U Club and started playing the Cat yesterday. Got stormed/rained out after the 7th hole. I'm about a 15 handicap, and I was only 3 over. I was pissed we had to leave, was gonna break 90 without a doubt. Post rain-out we went to Blue Stallion and got hammered. Went to Kroger and picked up some beer and cigarettes, and grilled out a little bit on the back porch after all the rain had passed. Pretty nice little Sunday.
