Paid $400 already to get it running. Worked for about a month. Guy said if it needed more work, that might run over $1,000 to replace the whole mechanism.

Deer lowered I'm not charging nearly enough. 400.00 to probably service the movement and I'm guessing replace the suspension spring is steep enough but a grand to replace the movement is insane (unless it's a tubular movement). Hell if I had charged you 400.00, and it only ran a month. I'm pretty sure I would have worked on again for free and made sure it was done right.

- Even as an elementary school kid, when I heard the "60 Minutes" time bomb, I felt the impending doom of undone homework and projects that I had put off all weekend. I still feel that same dread - especially after the Master's - as I put off grading papers and whatnot. Such is the life of a natural born procrastinator.

- The week leading up to Derby always slows to a crawl for me. I have plenty of college buddies who now live in Louisville and it makes me wish I was up there when they start talking about the fun they begin having on Thursday. I'd love to have what essentially is a 4 day weekend during this time of year. I have a blast on Derby Day though. The backyard party I attend in my rural, South Central town would rival anything you could find in Louisville (Barnstable and Brown excluded). One year they had a live band that once opened for Tom Petty play there. Beat that, Rivertown!

- I need a little time off for bad behavior.

Mags has a buddy that I assume wears cat tshirts exclusively. Cracks my **** up. One of the 4-5 dudes in the world that can make it funny.

Got stormed/rained out after the 7th hole. I'm about a 15 handicap, and I was only 3 over. I was pissed we had to leave, was gonna break 90 without a doubt..
Still plenty of time left for an OB or two, a couple doubles or worse, and some missed 4 footers. It's golf, after all.

I always wonder how many people tune in every Sunday during the NFL season and are surprised that there's football on TV until the announcers remind them 60 Minutes is in fact coming up.

-Hate missing Mondays. As much as they suck I typically get a majority of my repetitive work knocked out on Monday. So missing Monday just makes the rest of the week suck. I love having Friday off, though.

-He is a PHD, hopefully he wears them to lectures.

Firing a 55 for 9 holes is pretty awful, but I'd be willing to bet more GYERO golfers playing the ball down and holing putts would be circa 50, rather than their "39's", self included right now.
That's how I play it.

43 on the back. Found my driver and kept my ballz.....lol.

Clockmaker is a pretty cool trade. Always intrigued by true old school style tradesmen.

Family business. Great grandfather had a jewelry store in southern IL doing watch, clock, jewelry repair, my grandparents opened here in 1949 doing the same, and I took over in 2002 from them.

Basically apprenticed with my grandfather for a year and he said "have it." He was 82 years old at the time but came to the shop every day until he died at 93. He didn't do any work but he was the best tool I had plus it was cool just hanging out with him the last 11 years of his life. Old dude could tell some great stories about life on the farm, the war, etc

The backups are great odds but thats where it can get pretty expensive. To really maximize my odds I need to be on a $1 table. Even on a $5 table it can get pretty high.

But yeah, if you stick with straight bets on pass/come + 5&6 it doesn't get any easier. As simple as roulette as far as casino games go.

Great stuff. Nothing like working with the fam. You've been around here a long time, had no idea you were in that biz.

So you're in Illinois? That sucks.

Our business is in far western ky, Marshall Co. My grandparents were from So. IL but moved here after grandpa got back from the war. Great grandfather started in the late 1800's, my grand parents opened here in 1949. Been ìn the family over a 100 years I guess

Charger fan is arguably the worst. Seriously. Scary environment at Jack Murphy.

You don't really believe that, you just answer **** to show people where you have been.

Hey guys, what's the best Burger King you have ever been to?
73: hands down the Burger King on 5th and woobledinger in Tanzania. The anartica one is a close second.

Drop the act, we are on to you bub.

Isn't there a big Marine Corp base in and around San Diego? That could explain some of the rowdiness.

My old man grew up in Greenville, IL off I-70 and his dad passed down a Rockford Watch Co pocket watch all the way to me. It's in great looking shape but not currently running. Are you familiar with that company? Any idea on what repairs are worth?

Got fitted today for the new sticks. Pretty cool little process. Ended up going with the full set of Callaway XR's, xtra stiff shaft.

Tried out the Taylor Made M1 and M2, but hit the Callaway XR driver much better. Swing speed was between 115-123 mph.

Rockford pocket watches, while a good timepiece, are sort of a middle of the road watch. They didn't make many of them so you don't see them quite often. Most of them sell around 125-150 (on a good day) depending on the watch and it's characteristics, how many jewels, setting mechanism, dial & case condition etc.

As far as repairs go id wager it's just been sitting around many years and the oil has dried up so a good thorough cleaning of movement may be all it needs. I get 75.00 to service a movement but there could've other issues (bad balance, probably could use a mainspring, etc) so you could've looking at 150-175. Of course I'm in a podunk town so prices in a bigger city may be more.

Considering the only reason he plays is to swing as hard as he can and get that one CRUSHED drive to brag about, I don't doubt that at all.

Plus, once he knew they were measuring his swing speed, there is zero doubt he gave it all he had as if he was at a Carnival game. My 6i swing speed was 91-92, which is tour average -- and I was swinging normally as to get my true fit, of course.

There is more to distance than just swing speed though, which is why I'm not tour average when it comes to distance.

Pope was going for the Golf Exchange record, I'm sure. He's basically Dustin Johnson.

I was just swinging regular. As they say in racing, smooth is fast. This was about getting fitted for the right clubs, not trying to win some stuffed animal or sidebet.

Working on becoming a complete player this summer.

Was telling me this weekend that he's driving it 315-330 after his recent lessons. So he'd require tour level speeds.
